Re: Is sexism in video games the real problem?

My experience with online multiplayer is limited to things like the GTS from Pokemon and online leader boards, but I agree that most of the problem is socially awkward assholes who have no clue where the line is when it comes to trash talking rather than bigots who genuinely mean the hurtful things ...

Re: Everything is Sonic the Hedgehog

Doing some double checking, there's also the animated version of Episode of Bardock(released late 2011) and Plan to Eradicate the Super Sayians(though I'll admit it might not count since its a remake and the original dates back to DBZ's original run in Japan). Still, for some reason, I was thinking ...

Re: CIHE: Not enough, we need even more scary

Can't say I've played any games I'd consider scary, but of the games I thoroughly enjoyed, the ones that come closest to being scary in a traditional sense are probably Luigi's Mansion and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Re: Everything is Sonic the Hedgehog

1. Fusion Reborn is the dub title for the 12th of the 13 DBZ movies. 2. Wrath of the Dragon is the dub name for movie 13. 3. There have been several animated specials produced in the ~15 years between GT's conclusion in Japan and the release of Battle of Gods. 4. Due to Japan's looser definition of ...

Re: CIHE: We need even MORE scary

Okay, its more sci-fi than horror, but I'll submit Causal Noose as my entry. Just reread it and even knowing how it ends, it gave me shivers. Don't want to give away the ending, but it presents some rather terrifying implications for time machines that yank objects from the future.

Re: The Animation General

Okay, I can't comment on the visual aspects, and I wasn't able to find any working YouTube videos of full episodes, but listening to the two Big Mouth teasers I found on YouTube was fairly disturbing. Easily the worst takes on masturbation guilt and teenage rebellion I've ever heard. As for the sorr...

Re: The Animation General

Recently binged the dub of Digimon Adventure 02. and last night I gave the first part of Digimon Tri a listen. Kari's new voice will take some getting use to and it was surreal to hear Brave Heart playing over a battle with English Dialogue. Also been going super oldschool and bingeing the dub of th...

Re: ESRB says lootboxes in video games are not gambling

Just out of curiosity, but how prone are games that lock content behind loot boxes that have to be bought with real money to being hacked to get free loot and the hackers releasing tools that allow almost anyone to do so? Anyways, while I'm okay with in-game loot being as close to truly random as co...

Re: Grape-Kun the Otaku Penguin has passed away

^The article I found when I googled Grape-kun for context on this thread gave both his age and the average lifespan for his species in captivity at 20 years. This thread is the first I've heard of Grape-kun, but being a Linux user and a fan of Disgaea, I'm quite fond of penguins, so his passing has ...

Re: ESRB says lootboxes in video games are not gambling

I've never played a game with loot boxes, but they play into the same mentality that has kids feeding their entire allowances one quarter at a time into vending machines that spit out cheap plastic trinkets in hopes of getting the cheap plastic trinket they really want or putting down a few bucks a ...

^That makes a lot of sense and lines up well with the prevalence of multilingualism in real life. While most Americans are monoglots(and a disturbing fraction is actually proud of such linguistic shortcomings), it is my understanding that monoglots are the minority globally speaking, and that it isn...

Re: How To Infuriate A Communist

According to Wikipedia, Marx was born in Prussia, the state that would become modern-day Germany, and died in London, England.

I also looked up Adam Smith, and Wikipedia gives Scotland and England as his places of birth and death respectively.

I like to think Ivo and me would be very good friends if we knew each other in meat space.

And yeah, don't even have alt-text to give me a vague idea of what people are trying to say with those images.

Re: why the holy trinity is bad

I had a feeling that was the kind of role they filled, but as I'm more familiar with turn-based games as far as party combat is concerned, and that term seems to only make sense in a real-time context, I hadn't heard it before. Though, now that I think about it, while most of the games I enjoyed bac...

Re: Commonly hated zones in Classic Sonic

Yeah, it feels like nearly every Sonic game has at least 1 Green Hill-type level, and even among the Genesis Trilogy, Green Hill hasn't aged as well as Emerald Hill, Angel Island, or Mushroom Hill in my opinion. Then again, I'd argue Sonic 1 hasn't aged as well as Sonic 2 or 3K in general, and even ...

Re: [SA2B] Ideas for Chao tests

Disassembling and documenting all of the Chao related code across all versions of all games featuring Chao raising(and even the A-life system from NiGHTs into Dreams for the sake of completion) would be the holy grail of Chao research, but sadly, that's the kind of thing that would drive even the mo...

Re: Sonic's arrest was a conspiracy

I like to think that, canonically, Sonic just did tricks off all the vehicles in City Escape and that the cars destroyed playing the level are the collateral damage of story and gameplay segregation. Also, assuming Sonic didn't lump GUN in with the likes of Eggman from the beginning, being arrested ...

Re: Commonly hated zones in Classic Sonic

Regarding the above posted list, I always thought Green Hill Zone was annoying because of all the spikes and one spot in Act 2 where you have to traverse multiple narrow columns over a spike pit. Granted, that might not be so bad in versions that fix the spike glitch. And yeah, Chemical Plant is way...

I think it worth noting that PC games don't get to monopolize system resources or target a single hardware configuration the way console games do. Since stat grades are discreet data rather than continuous data, I don't think terms like bell curve, normal distribution, and histogram are correct here. The discrete counterparts to the normal distribution and histogram are the binomial distribution and simple bar graph. That said, it's quite cool...

Hmm, I wonder... 30 * 98 = 2940 2940/10 = 294 294 + 2940 = 3234 3234/10 = 323 323 + 2940 = 3263 3263/10 = 326 326 + 2940 = 3266 So the loss of that +30 from a newborn All-S chao leveling up from level 0 to level 1 doesn't hurt its ultimate potential and even without doing that math, its fairly obvio...
