Re: Chao mobile game?

If Sega were to make new Chao Gardens, I'd agree a stand-alone Chao Raising game for Android and iOS would make a lot of sense in the current market. As for fangames, technically, all fangames could be considered as infringing on copyright, but since it is up to the copyright holder to prosecute vio...

Re: Merry Christmas!

I don't expect much from the day itself, but the Christmas festivities at the Rehabilitation Center for the Blind have given me one of the most enjoyable lead ups to the holiday in several years, quite possibly the most enjoyable since my mother's death nearly a decade ago(she had always been the dr...

Re: Original anime intros vs. Dub anime intros.

Too lazy to look up clips on YouTube right now, so I'll just comment on some of what others have posted. I actually quite like Fire!! from Digimon Frontier, though it isn't my favorite of the tracks the late, great Kouji Wada has provided to the series. That said, I'll agree the English opening was ...

Someone please tell me these will be available for pre-order on Amazon and that they'll be posting Amazon links as soon as pre-orders go live.

Closest I've come to a proper arcade I was able to visit more than once was during my time at the school for the blind when places like Adventure Landing and Chuck E. Cheese's were among the places in the regular rotation for off-campus activities. That said, I do remember a Mario Pinball machine an...

Re: Should the forums be more child friendly?

I think it worth noting that child friendly can vary drastically depending on whose standards we're talking about. Since the ESRB ratings of the Sonic franchise was brought up, I'll mention that I know of at least one game series that has an All Ages rating from Japan's Computer Entertainment Rating...

Re: What is the purpose of fiction

Harry Potter is easily the most popular work of British Fantasy written in my Lifetime, and possibly the most popular work in any two of those three categories, so it isn't surprising that it would come up in a general discussion of fiction, in fact, it might have even been inevitable. Though, consi...

Re: What is the purpose of fiction

Probable spoilers ahead. And then Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, one of the greatest entries in the annals of Harry Potter fanfiction and a work I hope ascends to the ranks of the classics in time, completely turns the moral of the source material on its ear. That to truly master death...

Re: Are most of the people who come here in their 20s? *updated*

I'm 31, the old man of the forum by a sizeable margin with only Site Founder Mooncow anywhere near my age among other people who are still around. And while this site is focused on something with a target audience too young to join most social sites without parental approval or lying about their age...

Re: How much Sonic merch do you have?

Not counting old game discs and game cards, I believe my Sonic collection currently contains: Other Media: *Archie Comics: -The Beginning -Archives 1-~16 -Sonic Select 1-4 -13 Issues of the comicbook(I think like 130-142). *DVDs: -SatAM Box-set. Toys: Cream the Rabbit plush Cheese the Chao plush. An...

Is I Choose You the Ho-oh movie or am I even more out of the loop on Pokemon movies than I thought? Also, am I correct in thinking Otani didn't provide Pikachu's English speaking voice? Also, I knew there was a Hey Arnold movie in production, but I had no idea it was actually out. That's another in ...

Re: Net Neutrality

While I won't deny the importance of Net Neutrality, I have to question what the incentive for the average ISP to abuse it is. Perhaps I'm missing something, but it seems like a lot of work to throttle/block specific high-bandwidth activities when existing speed tiers and data caps mean only the fas...

Re: i forgot, is 2018 going to be ten years since this forum has existed like this?

For what its worth, the forum lists Mooncow's join date as being way back in 2005. Granted, there's no telling what form the forums took back then, and for all I know, its trivial for the admin to spoof their own join date.

Sadly, I'm not entirely sure how to calculate things like lifting and striking strength even working with SI measurements(which, naturally, my calculus-based physics class from a little over half-a-decade ago worked with exclusively), much less how to do it using pounds as our unit of force, so I co...

Holy ****, I knew Cream was quite the powerhouse behind that cute, innocent exterior, but I never even considered the ramifications of just how strong she must be to be able to fly with Big, the heaviest non-kaiju biological character in the series in tow. And if we assume Sonic X characters are ide...

Re: The Animation General

It's been a long time since I rewatched Samurai Jack since its tendency towards long stretches without dialogue or narration make it unsuitable for a blind audience, and I haven't given season 5 a listen, but from what I remember, the original seasons were easily some of the bloodiest, most violent ...

Re: "Sonic was never good"

In all fairness, the Sonic games having subpar writing is one of the few things most of the fragmented Sonic fanbase has been able to agree on since SA1 was originally released for Dreamcast and the only game I can recall being praised for having a story more complex than S3K's was Sonic Battle. As ...

I find the cultural associations others in this thread put on Mountain Dew funny as I've always associated the beverage with rednecks and especially rednecks who watch NASCAR.

I've actually resumed the soda habit in the wake of my father's death earlier this year, but I still think cola is a universally bad flavor. Re: Osama Bin Laden played Animal Crossing and Yoshi's Island

Assuming this is true, why would it be news worthy? As far as I know, he never said anything bad about Japan or their (pop) culture, and even if the games mentioned had been American made, my, admittedly limited, understanding was that his beef was primarily with the US government(and that said beef...
