What's the Blue Box of Death?

I've read in quite a few places that a Chao can only live 3 lifetimes, but also other sources contradicting that theory. Can anyone tell me the truth?

Um, there's more than one pillar...and I know there's a glitch where if a Chao gets right next to it, like CLOSE, than it'll get wedged and stuck. Anywho, I tried this, the dang fruit keeps just bouncing off

I know this'll really make me sound dumb, but either City Escape - Mission 1 or Radical Highway - Mission 1. I aced the 100 ring missions the first time I attempted them, so I was happy to see double A's on there.
