Sonic Adventure 2 released on Steam

Post by Mooncow »

Sonic Adventure 2 gets it's first outing onto the PC platform! This opens up brand new doors, especially if Fusion decides to make Chao Editor for it... who knows!

Available on Steam.

Seeing as I already have it on the Gamecube and can emulate in widescreen and more.

I came home yesterday, and my dad showed me he already downloaded Sonic Adventure 2 for the PC (he runs/helps out on a dutch torrent site) and I looked weird at it. I haven't heard about it yet, but did Notice it's the dreamcast version, since it doesn't say Battle.

Actually, if you look into Steam there is a DLC, which will add the Battle information to the game and so turn it into Sonic adventure Battle 2

:: Edit Oh err, torrent Um; I don't know about that one.. Its super cheap on Steam to get both game and the DLC, I suggest you go and buy it because.. Well it might just help the Sonic team possibly get it through their thick skulls we are willing to pay for more chao stuff and they need to bring back the original Sonic! Also it makes sure you get updates for bugs and things like that should they ever appear.

(I don't post here much)

Hmm, this makes me wish I had Steam. Or a computer that supported it.
Hey, if this is able to have DLC, then it probably has a different data-system then the 'cubes way of storing data (3D meshes, textures, level data, sounds, etc.), meaning one friendlier to modders and hackers, so it may even be possible to add more colors of chao eggs on our own...

:surprise: How does SA2 / SAB2 PC store the Chao 3D Models? I mean, since they are mutable, it's obvious that not all the models are stored in the data. But surely at least one is, and possibly one for each type... We could make new models and introduce new variants. Sure, this would take a superb modder, and plenty of trial and error...

We could at least find out if there's Jewel eggs in the new PC version and mod them in...

I downloaded it and it's basically Battle as far as I've seen. I played for maybe 5 hours, got to the pyramid level with Sonic and finished the dark story already. I also dd. Bit with chao because that's really the reason why I play it :D

It uses mainly prs files, which surprised me.

prs files = mostly Gamecube file stuff.

I'm pretty sure anyway.

.Pak and .prs files; as well as .dds Save data doesn't seem to have a file type on my computer.. Windows 7 for all of those.

Another neat note, you can switch the language on the Steam version, to the original Japanese voices. It does have English subtitles and text during game play; but the voices even during a scene are in Japaneses. ^^

Does anyone know if the chaos we raise on Steam, capable of being used against other online chaos,as well as doing this on the PS3 version?

I'm disappointed that the gardens are just the battle ones, not the DC :(

Please like my "Bring Back the Chao Gardens" page on Facebook! Also, please be sure to sign the petition linked on the page :D. I'm attempting to influence Sonic Team to create a stand-alone chao game for consoles, or at least add a chao garden to the next sonic game.

Fusion's working on it as we speak. If I remember correctly he said he was already pretty far into it, so it shouldn't be too long.

I noticed that to. I have spotted him in a number of places now.. Odd bugger; but no he was not in the original game cube version. I popped mine in and searched for him.

Big the cat is actually an easter egg (or an internal joke from the creator) that appeared in SA2 on dreamcast, but disappeared in the battle version on the GC.

I actually laugh everytime i see it (particularly when he climb a pipe in the first eggman visit to the ARK colony).
