Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice
Announcement trailer here.
Well, I'm pretty sure even SEGA want Sonic dead at this point. Evidence speaks for itself.
In all seriousness, it'll be to support the cartoon, I guess. Thoughts?

Dear SEGA
Please make a new Sonic Storybook game and/or Sonic Rush 3. Or another Sonic RPG. Or a sequel to Lost World that is better than the first game.
After that, you can make as many Sonic Boom games as you want (for another two or three years anyway).
Your Affectionate Uncle,
Dr. Eggman.

Or just rerelease Sonic Generations for PS4. I'd buy it again because of how perfect it was.

Lots of people liked Sonic and the Black Knight and Sonic Chronnicles, Nova.

Re: Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice
I guess to be fair, the 3DS version was better than the Wii U version from what I've heard. I don't like that they're trying to keep this franchise going though. The show is ok, nothing I'd binge watch or anything, but it's starting to feel like they're making video game adaptations for the TV show now, rather than TV adaptations for the video games. That's not a good thing, it's like making video games based off TAoSTH or Sonic X. You're seriously limited to how you can go about doing things and the environment set in place. Sure you can set Sonic on fire or something stupid, but you can't change up his design or where he lives or anything because that would deviate from the show too much.
I'm thinkin it's gonna be a solid game, but that's it. Just a solid 6-7/10 game with nothing really noteworthy to talk about. I hope they get their heads out of their asses and release another Sonic Generations type game soon. Game was pure liquid gold and they tossed it for dumb games that didn't do anything to help the franchise.

They were also some of the most critically panned games in the Sonic era. And weren't that great.Ivogoji wrote:Lots of people liked Sonic and the Black Knight and Sonic Chronnicles, Nova.
Lots of people liked Sonic '06 too, just ask people on this forum.
ANYWAYS, I have no idea why they're making another game. They can't "strike a fire" or "reignite a flame" with a sequel to the game that was panned more than Sonic '06, and even if the show is doing well, that doesn't make it any more likely that the game will succeed. It's going to be **** on, whether it's good or not, and the fact that the new universe wasn't/isn't just canned after they finish(ed) production of the show is nothing short of a miracle.

I haven't played a Sonic game since Generations because they've all been garrbge, give or take varied opinions on Lost World. SEGA have driven the franchise into the ground, and for what? Are they seriously that dumb?

If SEGA's targeting young kids as an audience to appeal, they missed by lightyears. They missed any kind of audience by lightyears.

Re: Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice
A quick Google search would indicate Sega lost their ass on the first Sonicboom. In that context, this seems like a bad business move.
On the other hand, the show might be doing well enough that this iteration of the Franchise is actually profitable overall. Also, because game sequels cost less to make than completely new games, they might be banking on the sequel's development costs being low enough that even if it sells no better than the first one, it'll be profitable enough to overcome the lost they made on the first one. Also, it's entirely within the realm of possibility that the Sonicboom sequel will be leaps and bounds ahead of it's predecessor. I mean, Sonic 2 was lightyears ahead of Sonic 1, SA2 improved on just about everything compared to SA1(I thought SA1 had the better story, but I think SA2 did a better job presenting it's narrative), I thought Rush Adventure was a solid improvement over the original Rush, and I might be in the minority, but I thought Advance 2 was leaps and bounds better than Advance 1. I haven't played anything newer than Heroes on the console side of things, but my understanding is most prefer Black Knight to Secret Rings, and while it might be a stretch to call Generations the de facto Unleashed 2(they do have nearly the same engine, and most of the day stages from Unleashed PS360 have been ported to Generations PC), most consider Generations a vast improvement over Unleashed.
Still, I'd say the safe option for Sonic Team would be to port the PC version of Generation's code base to PS4 and make a new game using said code base, or if the WiiU can handle it port the PS360 version of the Generations Code base to WiiU. In either case, you get the savings of using old work while building off something that has a solid track record.

Another cash in due to the popularity of its associated cartoon? Damn, this series is a lost cause. Pass the eye bleach.

Re: Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice
I saw the trailer and thought the use of fire and ice was neat. Nothing groundbreaking, but neat.
Anyway, I just hope they (whoever is working on this, I forget) learned from their mistake. I wouldn't be surprised if more sonic boom games are planned after this, because Sega obviously can't learn anything, and if they could, they would have expanded on sonic 3 more, or adventure 2, or unleashed/generations, or lost world, I'm sure you get the point I'm making, right?
Maybe sonic needs a kickstarter successor of sorts like mighty no. 9 or yooka laylee.

Sanzaru games. They made the first Sonic Boom 3DS game, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and the Sly Cooper Collection (HD ports of the original Sly games). They also made other stuff but none of it was anything good other than the Sly stuff.
