Game Discussion: Sonic Rush
Sonic Rush was the first video game I remember playing, and it has a special place in my heart. The game was enjoyable and challenging (at least to 6-year-old me) and had an AMAZING soundtrack! I still replay it from time to time, and Blaze has became one of my favorite characters because I enjoyed this game so much!

The soundtrack was pretty boss, no question about that.
I really wanted to see a third Rush game that went back to the first installment's gameplay and made some improvements, but it looks like handheld Sonic games are in limbo now.

GOAT soundtrack, incredibly fun and fast-paced gameplay despite occasionally wonky physics, super fun special stages, and blaze has by far the best "sonic's rival" character arc in the series imo
def one of the best 2D sonics, shame rush adventure was so forgettable in comparison

It's not within my top 10 2D Platforming Sonic games, but my memory of the game says it's okay. I definitely liked Rush Adventure more though.
The soundtrack was indeed, the best, however. I definitely liked Rush Adventure's soundtrack more though.

Blaze was easily my favorite new playable character since Cream in Advance 2 and I really missed her when playing the handheld version of Colors(which as far as I'm concerned is basically Rush 3 plus wisps and minus Blaze), though I did dislike how this game marked an end to flagship handheld Sonic including Sonic's entire five man band as playable characters. I do remember enjoying Rush Adventure more though.

Re: Game Discussion: Sonic Rush
music was horrible; it's like if someone came across eclectic electronic body music and thought "i want the amateur preteen DJ aesthetic"
i like playing as blaze though; i do miss those handheld sonics, but it's such a waste, no, a joke to make them for nintendo, so i'm not surprised you don't really see anything on a handheld front especially this gen much. rush was fun, though

Re: Game Discussion: Sonic Rush
I personally prefer the rock-oriented soundtracks of the Dreamcast era, so I'm not too big of a fan of Rush's OST myself, but I will agree that if anything, it was a welcome and interesting change. I also appreciate how they kept the character roster small for Rush like the other handheld Sonic games instead of expanding more and more like the console games, though when I was little I did find it a bit disheartening that in multiplayer you could only play as Sonic or Blaze.
Also Blaze is by far my second favorite character design from the Sonic series, second only to Silver because I'm a dirty ol' Silver fanboy.

i liked sonic rush's aesthetic and i agree with sable about blaze having the best 'sonic's rival' arc. it's a shame sonic in general lacks continuity as a series and that blaze never really had an important plot point outside of the rush games (and maybe 06?? idk i didnt play). i liked the dual game modes and i thought blaze and cream's friendship was adorable (i'm still waiting for a revamped team rose which consists of amy, cream and blaze). also the music is amazing, i love the hip hop vibes
