The paint's chemical make-up is more important than the method of application. Porous materials like wood tend to soak up any liquid that comes in contact with them, so most paints are good on wood, unless the paint negatively reacts with the wood. With nonporous materials like metal and most plastics, most paints will just form a thin crust that flakes off easily once dry, or will just run off without sticking.Red wrote:Spray paint is good, right?
If the woodgrain is from the bat being made of wood, you are probably okay. If its a metal or plastic bat that has been textured to resemble woodgrain, you might have adhesion problems. As for the decal, depending on how its adhered, it might be easier to remove it than conceal it with paint.
As for specific paints:
I know Tempura is good for wood and bad for plastic.
I know most water-based paints are good for wood and bad for plastic.
I know Krylon Fusion is good on plastic, but have no idea about on other materials.
