Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
We've all been here for quite some time, got to know great guys and gals had some laughs and some fights but do you think that Chao Island has changed you for better, or for worse?
If you compare how I acted back in 2008 to 2014, you can see a huge different in pretty much every way, sure I still make some stupid mistakes here and there I do like to think that Chao Island did help me change the way I acted.
Since I matured with a lot of the other users and the fact that as the people around you change and ridicule you for not changing you succumb and change yourself.
I'm not sure if you guys completely changed me throughout my life, a lot of the time I'd never go into drama filled topics and other times I'd be online about 5 weeks a year.
In general though, I do think that if I never went here I'd be a very different person on the internet and real life. Besides Youtube this was the first place that allowed me contact with others using the internet, and since there were two groups of people the nice mature people who'd help the younger users, and the young users who were around my age. It was a great place to start out and mature from.

Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
When I first joined CI, I was really depressed and honestly considering suicide...the friends I've made here, the time spent here, the memories gained..have really helped me. Sure, everyday (not literally, maybe every few days) I struggle with chronic depression, but I'm not at the point of considering death... At home and school, I had no one..no one cared about me and my mental state. It was only because of the friends I have online that I was still going. Now, I still don't have any friends irl since graduation, but things I've learned from my friends here have helped me stay sane and alive..
Also, spelling, grammar, culture awareness, ect..

Nope, not even a little bit. Feel free to read my old posts and see how I haven't changed at all.
Most of my formative years were spent of on other forums and places like FF.net, and it's out there where I've visibly matured the most. CI has had little-to-no impact on that development; too late, too minor.

I'd say so, at least a little bit. This is the first place I dropped my persona and started going by my real name online, so that's pretty cool. This place was where I talked to people when I was going through some tough times and didn't have anyone else to talk to. This place was actually where I first learned about asexuality and I'm very grateful for that. I was majorly confused and that helped a lot. There's also been bad changes because of some things that've happened between me and other members. Also I met my boyfriend on here so there's that. I think he had at least a part in me deciding to put a lot of effort into school, but I can't really tell.

I'll definently say that beinghere has certainly made me a better person online and offline, despite all the shortcomings of being here aswell.
Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
Well my current girlfriend is from CI, moved to New York because of her, and now I'm typing outside of my own home.
Hard to believe a site like this directed my life here, but I'm not complaining.

Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
I would say yes on my part.
This place was my first online forum I joined when starting off on the web. Yeah, back then I was a mess and yeah I still am I mess but I respect this site. I made friends with a ton of people, got to experience there is more than what's around me at home and learned a lot about others too. I also learned a lot of how others view the same things and could get an idea of how everyone else sees the world too. Not just what my offline friends and family said to influence my judgement.
Plus I would have to say thanks to everyone because even though I am not active on CI as much as I was, I still owe it to you guys that I am on different sites now. I would have never have gone to deviantart or tumblr or youtube, given the fact not many of my friends offline do the same things as me.
However it has given me a little more insight to how dumb worrying about stupid people online can really be. Like the drama that was going on here back in 2012ish was a disaster which ultimately lead to me leaving anyways. Essentially, I grew up and moved on.
So all in all, yes CI changed me. I can't say if it was for good or not though. However, I do still highly respect the site and what it has done for me. Including my friends here and those who I never meet.
....yup... off to work then :)

Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
This site turned me onto a bunch of stuff that I probably never would've found without it, whether or not that's for the best is yet to be determined.
Also it taught me to not type like a mongoloid and it taught me the difference between ` and ' because people kept calling me out on it

Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
I have very few friends in real life. In the real world, there are social rules to follow and judgment. Some people say all they want to do is stand out and be different. I was the opposite, all I wanted to do is blend in. I never felt like I could be myself in the real world, so I began searching for a place where I could.
I ended up joining here one day. I soon met some awesome people and took part in some very fun RPs. I still remember joining the Pokemon XD: Hurricane of Darkness RP (by Zelos). I didn't know it at the time, but that RP would lead me to meet some of my very best friends. My social skills have definitely improved in my time here as well.
So yes, Chao Island has without a doubt changed me.

Farewell, Chao Island...

Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
Ye I guess
Originally I only joined to learn about chao and then leave, but then I made the mistakevof going into the CB
That's where I met some of the best people I've met online, people such as (bear with me, nostalgia coming) b24e, Chromo, BLC, Renae, Evan, Linds, Wacky, Pastaa, and more. I've lost cpntact with some of them but I appreciate the time I had with them in the past
The rest is history. (sry 4 ny gramer mistekes, in mi fone lol)

Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
i would say it has, whether for better or worse.
on one hand it's made me a lot more jaded and cynical. i've become overly critical of people that i probably shouldn't be due to the endless, exorbitant amounts of ridiculous vile **** that gets posted here constantly. on the other hand i've met some of the best people in my life here and i would say me being on chao island led to a lot of things such as me becoming an amateur composer (eventually a full-on actual indie composer in the time i've been gone) which led to, among other things, meeting my girlfriend
so yeah, my long-term experience with this site have been a mixed bag basically

Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
honestly it wasn't that long ago i said that i regret ever coming here
i made some boyfriend/girlfriend mistakes that i felt horrible about, and friendship mistakes too
those mistakes also affected my friendships with people in school
and although i'm still extremely bitter over a particular subject and less bitter about something else, it was so worth coming to CI
i met my bestfriend, CasualCollision/Chaopolis, in person, i love him so much and all that happiness that i felt from meeting him, from hugging him as our first greeting to each other, made all of my mistakes concerning CI worth it, i've also never felt this happy before in my life and i know even better times are ahead
he's my soulmate, platonically at least, and we're going to be meeting up at least one more time before we move in together by 2016
and as another thing, if i wasn't forced off of ci, i don't think i ever would have been in the right place at the right time to have discovered vaporwave, and dear lord has that given my life quite a spark

Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
CI probably was one of the main things contributing to who I've become today, honestly. I could say no but it'd be a lie, because most of my friends originated from here and my life would be radically different without this place. I owe a lot to this place for most of the personal things that have happened in the past few years in my life, and even when it wasn't this place, I feel like this site helped me set up a base and become who I was. It helped me set up a sturdy base and then move onto where I wanted to go afterward.
I feel pretty damn grateful, honestly.
On the other hand, the rare few people in the entire world I actively hate/have hated (nowadays I only really hate one person, and the rest I just dislike) have all come from this site, and those people probably won't know who they are and I'm perfectly fine with that.
The vast majority of you are cool, though, and I like spending time here. Even if it's not as much as it used to be, it's still fun to spend a few minutes flicking through every so often in a day.

Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
Clearly I changed CI more than it changed me.
Nah, I dunno. Its been so long that I doubt I'd notice. Most things change us in some way.
But I totally did more to the site than it did to me.

I was destined to be this great before Chao Island became a thing B)
Though Chao Island has given me a few lessons and I feel like it did shape me into a better person by learning from mistakes I made here.

Re: Do you feel Chao Island has changed you?
the only thing chao island did to change me was introduce me to homestuck, which upon discovery i promptly left the forum for to blog about on tumblr
so. you guys indirectly introduced me to tumblr. which did a lot more to change me (positively in reference to this place, mind you) than this place did. ngl ci was really toxic for me lolol
but hey now im cool and genderless.
