Re: Weekly Question(s) - Week 4.

Post by Jeffery Mewtamer »

I'm usually on the losing end whenever I get in a fight, so I try to avoid them. Fortunately, I've never been in anything worse than a schoolyard tussle.

I'm very much a pacifist, believing that violence should always be a last resort.

I've had beginner classes in Wing Chun Kung-fu, Tae Kwon Do, and Aikido, but about all I remember is their respective recommendations for throwing a punch(Wing Chun maximizes number of strikes by minimizing movement while maintaining a frontal guard, Tae kwon do maximizes force behind a punch while maintaining solid footing, and there are no punches(or strikes in general) in Aikido as that style is all about using grabs to redirect and opponent's momentum).

Ever been in a fight?
Sort of, but not an actual to the death fight.

What was the outcome?
I was pretty much on the losing side, but it was broken up by the teacher.

Your stance on violence? (Pacifist, War-monger etc.)
I don't really want to label myself with big terms like that, I just don't like the idea of war and it shouldn't happen, specially not for stupid reasons. It's like getting into a fight with someone, involving your entire friend group and they all end up getting beaten up because you had to be stupid. But instead "friend group" is "innocent people living in your country" and "beaten up" is "dying".

Do you know how to fight? (Kung Fu, Karate etc.)
I used to practice capoeira in the past, which I dropped for college, unfortunately. I don't really know what to do directly into battles anymore, but I think I got plenty of tricks up my sleeves to at least stand my ground probably.

In between the pacifist and warmongers. Fighting can be a good way to get the point out for certain things, however, it sometimes goes too far.

Yes. I have been in a fight. Many fights for a chance to play Team Fortress 2.

I have won all my fights.

I believe that violence is needed. The weak should die, while the strong should stay alive.

I am trained in the ancient Australian Martial Art of "Ozzy-Fu". Only a select few know about it, and I happen to be one of them.

Ever been in a fight?
Nope, I tend to stay away from participating. Although sometimes I do want to high five people is the face with my fist.

What was the outcome?
Usually, it ends up me rolling my eyes art people dumb enough to fight.

Your stance on violence? (Pacifist, War-monger etc.)
I find it's necessary for some situations. However, most of the time people take it too far and end up just being idiots.

Do you know how to fight? (Kung Fu, Karate etc.)
I know how to protect myself. Like I said, I stay away from situations like that.

A nice place in-between, which I think is pretty much what the human body likes either way?

I have an intolerance to the extreme heat, and the problem is that it is much more difficult to cool yourself than it is to keep yourself warm. I also don't like the prospect of getting sunburned or suffering a heat stroke.

Definitely warm.

Your favourite season?
Summer. If I were to be more specific, I'd say probably just before Summer's end, coming into fall.

Why is it your favourite?
Well, my favorite thing about Summer is the fact that I can swim all day, take long naps in the sun, there's no school (typical XD), my birthday's in summer and being hot is a lot better than being cold. About my specific favorite time of summer, I would say because it's not sweltering, it's not freezing, it's still warm, and there's no confounded allergies!!

Your least favourite season?
Winter.

Why is it your least favourite?
For one, it is flippin' freezing, and two, where I live, it never snows. Ever. Last snow we had was two years ago, and that was because Atlanta froze over entirely. With a storm that big, we had to get SOME snow.

Do you like being Cold, Hot, or a nice place in-between?
I am an absolute in-betweener, though, I'd prefer it to be more warm than cold.

Hyped for any movies this year?
I was for the new Avengers, also kind of hyped for pitch perfect 2, surprisingly. I don't really look forward to much else, I'm nto a movie guy.

What would you say is your favourite film and why?
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. It was great because it was game-related, a character I can relate to and a girl with cool colored hair.

What would you say is your most hated film and why?
The Grudge, but probably mostly because I expected it would be awesome. It was really boring and not that scary.

Do you like how many films are seeing reboots these days?
I don't really have much of an opinion about it. I don't watch them, so it doesn't bother me.

Do you believe there are films that are so bad, they're good?
I still need to watch Con Air and Wade's World to confirm this.

Hyped for any movies this year?
Not many, mostly the new Star Wars movie. Got a list of stuff I'm dieing to see in 2016 though.
What would you say is your favourite film and why?
Gojira 1954 is the greatest expression of film making genius ever produced by human hands. I might be looking at it with nostalgia filters on, but it really is a spectacularly well directed and well written work of art. It speaks to me powerfully.
What would you say is your most hated film and why?
Worst film I've ever seen half-way and refused to finish watching: Grease. I hated this film with an immediate, all-consuming disgust. It was definitely worse than anything else I've ever suffered to watch for more than thirty minutes.
Worst case of having massive expectations only to be very disappointed: Avatar. It wasn't a bad film by any means, but the hype around it was way misguided.
Do you like how many films are seeing reboots these days?
It's not so bad. Frankly there's nothing new at all about this sort of thing, other than the fact that these days a new reboot can come out like five years after the original. Never cared for how some folks blubber on about Hollywood not having any original ideas when there are plenty of good original movies out there.
Do you believe there are films that are so bad, they're good?
No, I don't.

Hyped for any movies this year?
YES!! Star Wars Episode VII! Also, I was pretty hyped for The Avengers: Age of Ultron, but it wasn't that great.

What would you say is your favourite film and why?
Oh, gosh . . . um, favorite movie. The LEGO Movie, because it's so right about everything.

What would you say is your most hated film and why?
Antz. It's . . . just . . . stupid. And pointless.
I was also disappointed in the Age of Ultron. And Avatar. The show was so good! The movie was horrid!

Do you like how many films are seeing reboots these days?
Sure, why not?

Do you believe there are films that are so bad, they're good?
Ah . . . no.

Can't say I was that big a movie goer even when I could see.

That said, some personal favorites:
The Aladdin Trilogy
The Rush Hour Trilogy
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon(The Manhua thereof is also great, through hard to find in English)
Jet Li's Hero
Mulan(Also gets special mention for most awesome training montage song of all time and best dubbed version of a song in animation)
Disney's Animated version of 101 Dalmations.
Kung Fu Panda and it's sequel.

As for so bad, its good, I'd say all of the following owe a good bit of their charm to how poorly they adapt the source material:
Super Mario Brothers
Mortal Kombat/Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Dragonball Evolution

I'm replaying Fallout and just recruited Dogmeat, a canine companion. In doing so I had to google how to and it make me think up this week's question. So let's talk about animals and pets.

Question 7 09/06/15 - 16/06/15

Cats or Dogs?
Do you have or did you have any pets?
Favourite animal/s?

Cats or Dogs?
Definitely dogs, as they just have so much more going for em than cats. Cats, at least from my past experience, creep into unreachable places to do their business, never cuddle, won't listen when I call them, always try and get out, and are just a pain to deal with. Dogs require a bit more care, but there's a lot more to do with them as a result.

Do you have or did you have any pets?
I've had a fair amount of cats and dogs in my time. Tons of fish too haha. For the most part though, that's been about it.

Favourite animal/s?
I really like turtles, they're super cute and easy to take care of. Expensive, yes, but very minimal in the effort you need to put into them to keep em alive.

Least favourite animal/s?
Hm... I can't really think of anything. I don't like spiders, I don't like owning a cat, and I don't like pet birds. That's about it though.

Definitely a cat person. I miss the large number of cats we use to have before we were forced to move, even if most of them were too feral to pet.

Presently, there are three dogs in the house: A pair of female chihuahua that don't get along and a mostly blind male pikpom whose borderline feral.

Hey, let's bring this dinosaur of a topic back.

Speaking of which, let's go with time. 17/05/17 - 24/05/17

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
How about 10?
If you could go back in time, what would you do differently with your life?
If you could go forward in time, where would you go and what would you do?
Do you think you've spent your time wisely?
Is it ELO's best album?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
What I want is to be moved out, successfully making a bit of money in commissions or freelance art stuffs and in an art studio sort of school and/or internship somewhere in California, but more realistically, the most I'd be is in an apartment still somewhere in Houston, or maybe still with my parents, afraid to have to take care of myself.
How about 10?
The only things I have in mind are a Galaga cabinet and a cat named after a major Bionicle character. Probably a tabby if I can help it.
If you could go back in time, what would you do differently with your life?
I think all my decisions and experiences made me who I am today, but that doesn't mean I don't curl up in a tight ball of bright red embarrassment at least once a day.
If you could go forward in time, where would you go and what would you do?
I don't get it. We are going forward. We'll get there. Eventually.
Do you think you've spent your time wisely?
Nah.

the hole of suffering known as "education" because i'm both relatively inteligent and completely awful at school, so i'm either going to suffer incomplete high school or the true horror known as college

How about 10?

the hole of suffering known as, "every job except entertainment is painful, but there's a legitimate chance of me not doing that or having to stop doing it"

If you could go back in time, what would you do differently with your life?

Fix multiple stnanks.

If you could go forward in time, where would you go and what would you do?

Nowhere at all, because if I was missing from where I'm currently standing or otherwise that would cause several problems and most likely multiple time anomalies.

Do you think you've spent your time wisely?

Like, overall? No. In this topic? It's alright.

Is it ELO's best album?

Why buy some album called "Time" from some band I've never heard of, when you can listen to "History" for Sonic Mega Collection on Youtube and start crying?
