Things you believed in as a Kid
When I was around seven, I thought that you could call Heaven. I used to confuse my aunt for my grandmother, who had died several months ago, and when my mother would call my aunt, I thought she was calling heaven to talk to her mother.
I also used to think that sleep was just closing your eyes for about five seconds, and then opening them again and it'd be day time. Obviously this was crushed after attempting it once, but I did think that when I didn't really understand sleep being a long period of your eyes being closed that we perceive as a small period of time.
I also thought that age stopped at around 10 or so, it was weird but I thought that I was 4 (which I was), my brother was 5 and other was 6, my mother was 7 and my father was 9. To this day I'm not entirely sure what the hell I was thinking.
But yeah, you get the picture. What stupid stuff did you believe in as a kid?

Re: Things you believed in as a Kid
One of the stupidest things I thought was possible was that if you swallowed DS games you could play them in your head. Good thing I never attempted it.
Another really stupid thing I thought was that if I built a Pikmin out of snow and left it for a few days it would just come to life. I was obviously very upset when I was proven otherwise by my own experimentation.
I also thought video games were real, mainly because of this Sinnoh Pokemon Handbook and Sinnoh LCD Pokedex I owned at the time giving me tips on how to catch Pokemon (e.g. If you have allergies, only look for a Budew to catch in the winter.).

Things I believed as a kid? Let's see:
-That I was good at math. Granted, I'm better than most at math, but except for Calculus I/III, I've needed at least two attempts at every math class required by my chosen major and the additional maths I'd need for a BS in mathematics are scary.
-That I was a genius. Now I blame at least part of this on the popular notion that a high IQ is the only requirement for being a genius and frequently getting high scores on fake Internet IQ tests.
-Probably other aspects of an overinflated ego that I've lost to learning humility. Eleven years of undergrad instruction at three different schools does a very good job at taking a guy used to being the smartest or second smartest student in his highschool and felt he was smarter than most of his instructors down a notch or twelve.
I'd say god, but I'm not sure I ever really believed the things my parents told me about religion as a kid.
Oh yeah, as a Kid, I believed the United States was the only civilized place on Earth and pretty much bought all of the pro-American propaganda that was fed to the youth of my generation. Bush Jr's presidency did a thorough job of dispelling those misconceptions.

I didn't understand the concept of using child actors to play a younger version of a character. So I thought to film a scene where a character is a child, they had to start filming when the actor was a kid and then wait 20 years for that kid to grow up so they could finish the movie.

I thought that Pokemon were real, just..extremely rare to find in the wild, or in another universe. I still kinda believe the alternate universe thing, lol.

I used to believe that if I stared at a TV or computer screen for too long, the screen would suck my eyeballs right out of their sockets.

you ruined this for meretrolinkx wrote:inb4God
well in the late 90s they liked to say you could be whatever you wanted to be so i'm like "well i want to be a queen" so i was PRETTY SURE a prince would find me
also i used to believe in all that silly demonology/paranormal pseudoscience and read everything i could, even visiting supposedly occult dolls and paintings (touched aunt pratt) and places, blah blah blah. just little mini goth girl phase
and i thought based on the american dollar the whitehouse and capitol building were literally two sides of one building until a dc trip
i also believed nintendo would actually stay relevant and be worth my money when i turned into an adult
"Oh baby won't you stop it/you and I haven't got it
Television romance "

That other countries were as important as America.
Crazy, I know.
On a more serious note though, I used to think I could change my name whenever I wanted to. So one day I changed my middle name to Scooby-Doo.

This is mine tho. Not that I think that believing in God is childish or anything, but when I was young I desperately searched for deities.retrolinkx wrote:inb4God
Also I was convinced you could unlock Raichu in SSBM after my cousin told me you could.
