i think he literally saw this on breitbart, the daily caller, or some other paranoid libertarian manchild site because when i typed in ego hippo i got those results
and they're petrified of academic people to begin with; a trans one makes them scream godzilla
at least the abstract itself is actually enlightening, at least in the way vapor puts it, because as a transitioned MtF i don't really know what it's like trying to identity yourself like people like the student have to

You know we do have right wing academics that have their own take on gender theory right?

Is that science denialism I hear? I thought that was a thing only people on the right were stereotyped with.

Re: LGBT+ Thread
as a change of topic; how did you find out you were lgbt+? did you always feel it and just not have a name for it? or was it a person you saw or knew that made you go "oh ****, i'm not straight"?

Re: LGBT+ Thread
uhh like i knew i kinda liked guys since I dated them but I deal with a lot bc of my androphobia so dating is really hard and i just realized girls are super cute too so I'm not really sure what to call my sexuality since I'm still figuring it out lol
Re: LGBT+ Thread
I'm not gonna say what it was but it was this one band and I got stuck with the album on my way to school with nothing else to read to look at and over time I realized the guy on the cover had kissable lips.
Then I kinda just accepted I was probably bisexual instead of think it was really that complicated. I'm very picky however.

well we liked guys for a while too, we didn't think much of girls. then we started kind of being a guy. then we realized how fun girls are when you're a guy. and then it kind of mashed up and now we like everything.

Re: LGBT+ Thread
I'm a predominantly heterosexual cis-male who is fairly feminine by US standards of masculinity/femininity.
I think it was crushing on girls from anime and video games during my preteen years and seeking out screencaps and fanart of them in swimsuits or featuring pantyshots online(and then accidentally discovering the NC-17 rating on FF.net(back when it had such a rating) and what a large part of the Internet now calls R34) that confirmed I had a strong preference for the ladies.
It was a certain yaoi anime I won't name that made me realize sufficiently cute boys could get my moter running without girls being involved. Still, for every fictional male I'm attracted to, there's a few dozen females, so I'm fairly comfortable listing myself as predominantly heterosexual rather than bisexual with a heterosexual preference.
The only body issues I've ever had have been a life long struggle with weight management and annoyance at how much body hair I have.
I've never been particularly masculine, and even before I learned what set anime apart from cartoons, I was in to as many shojo series as I was shounen series, but I'm not entirely sure when I first realized I had feminine tendencies beyond ignoring those of my age group who criticised me for watching "girls' shows"(though granted, I never went through that teenage phase of rejecting childish things or enjoying them as a guilty pleasure, so I got more flack in highschool for openly enjoying childish things than I did for enjoying girly things), but much of my twenties featured me slowly embracing my feminine side(though, even at 30, there are still things I haven't gotten the nerve to do, such as wearing skirts or dresses in public outside of occasions where I've elected to don scholarly attire).
I'd count myself as a straight ally among the various extended versions of the GLBT acronym, and really my reasoning comes down to the Internet desensitizing me to most taboos related to sex and sexuality long before prudish society deemed fit to try and indoctrinate me against them. I'm pretty sure I was a yuri fanboy long before I even knew people had issues with homosexuals.

Re: LGBT+ Thread
Can confirm was a somewhat enjoyable experience, completely different from last year's Pride in that the only sexual thing around was the condoms they provided in the restrooms, and also to a point in the bathroom thread: there was a "gender neutral" restroom and mostly just what went on in there was toilet using and people of all genders complimenting one another on their appearances. (I also posted a photo of myself after I got back in the photos thread :y) Can't trust teenagers you say? The only thing they did (that I was there to witness anyway) was blow some of the condoms up like balloons, and that's nothing more than immature and a waste.Tsui wrote:They're also advertising an LGBT+ youth prom at the bar my mom used to work at a long time ago. Sounds like fun.
It was kind of heartwarming to see everyone have a good time with their partners and friends and acting like themselves where they might have to hide all of that in public. Though, it was a bit lonely not going with any friends of my own, but that's what I get for being a shy introvert who doesn't make friends easily.
They also played Ievan Polkka.
A girl in late elementary school who was the only person who seemed genuinely friendly toward me or at least tolerated me. At the time I was young and called myself a girl so I thought I was gay for liking her. Unfortunately, that only made the teasing a bit worse.mintdrop wrote:as a change of topic; how did you find out you were lgbt+? did you always feel it and just not have a name for it? or was it a person you saw or knew that made you go "oh ****, i'm not straight"?
Thankfully I have parents who don't care about my gender and orientation. Though my brother gets pretty mad about it sometimes.

Re: LGBT+ Thread
hello uh. sup. i'm lgbt or whatever. i'm not labeling for my sexuality and im nonbinary and use they/their pronouns and gender neutral terms. i'm out on fb and other social media but no one irl is really educated about it so they still use the wrong pronouns for me and use my birth name. but i'm too timid to say anything about it. oh well. idk. i tried to educate my mom about it and she does understand but she just.. has difficulty adjusting to my pronoun use and my "new name" and..yeah. it's whatever, i'll deal.
edit: i also realized i was nonbinary or at least like, not a girl about 2 years ago. i've always felt off about myself but could never pinpoint what it was until then. and i realized i liked girls in 7th grade, and then as i got older i realized it didn't matter and i just like anyone regardless of gender

Re: LGBT+ Thread
Somewhat ironic(or at least what people mistake for ironic), but despite living in a small town where most people know each other, race dominates local politics, and in a bible belt state, the biggest criticism I've recieved for my more feminine behaviors has come, not from the strangers I pass in the grocery store(most of whom mind their own business, and if they interact with me, it's usually because they know me from school or they know my father), but from my own niece(who swears I'm a gay in denial). If said niece was a straight girly girl, I'd just pass it off as the typical ignorance that feeds stereotypes(in this case, the "all effeminate men are gay" stereotype), but not only is she the biggest tomboy I know, but she's an uncloseted lesbian with a live-in girlfriend and doesn't comprehend the hypocrisy of a woman who wears mens' clothing criticizing a man for wearing womens' clothing.

I had interpreted it as a ****post with no depth and didn't read as far into it as I should have before responding. I'm leaving this post otherwise intact for context and because wiping it might seem something like lying]
