Re: can we talk about how hostile this site is now
^yeah 90% of the time my posts are usually responded with some kind of joke or irrelevant statement so i'm not surprised.
i said what i said based off of what has happened in the past regarding cliques the last time i left the discord temporarily.
has it occurred to anyone that there's still something wrong if this is even being discussed? like why are we discussing it if there aren't any cliques? why is it being brought up if people think there isn't some kind of issue here?

I have the answer I wanted, now I'll just kinda exist.
Re: can we talk about how hostile this site is now
If that's truly denial, then exactly who... or what is standing in front of me?

Fun fact: nano isn't part of the discord and left it cause he too hated itchaoadventures wrote:Nano wrote:This reads like a conspiracy theory. "People are going to disagree with me, but they're just working for the government." Just replace government with clique.Pumpkinium wrote:something relevant

Hopefully unsurprisingly, its possible to dislike or disagree with something without there being a huge conspiracy on why you dont like it.

@Pumpkinium
I mean the majority of why the discord is still talked about is because Triert hasn't let up about his removal from the server and his paranoia about anything that happens behind closed doors. Like without him talking about it, it might have entered a state of obscurity again.
If you want a serious response to what you said, I'm not sure who specifically in Pumpkinium I'm speaking with, but your issue could genuinely just be a personal issue. No one of us is a spokes person for the server, but I genuinely believe it could be your own problem. You'll get into deep discussions, some members will disagree, and the pressure will get to you. I agree that they go too hard sometimes, but the most common discussion is over elements of personal identity, and that's not my place to speak. I wasn't happy to see you go, but I don't recall them demanding you leave or kicking you out. Most of us care, even if not everyone is blatant about it.
As for vagueness, stuff is vague when there isn't an actual solid issue. The issues on the server are primarily personal issues, and people don't want to be rude about those personal issues. It's kinda a weird concept like that, I guess. I'm actually glad people aren't coming in being up front, because then we wouldn't be having anything remotely civil: we'd have opinion pieces with colorful language.
--
I don't know how eblu's perspective may have changed during this, but on the server today a lot of people who regularly argue with him on sexuality made it clear that they don't hold his views against him. That's the genuine truth. People aren't looking for a fight, but if the discuss comes up, people make themselves clear. As long as you can separate yourself from your politics, and have nice conversations over the simple things, then you'll have a fine time anywhere.

Adding onto the back of Crazo's post, talking about video games is good. talking about anime is good. talking about someone being brainwashed or stupid someone is for having a political disagreement with you is bad.

Don't forget Todd
Talking about Todd is always good

I'm also thinking that nothing's going to change, too. In that way I kinda agree with Pumpkinium's posts. I'm sorry for the people who got their feelings hurt, but at this point, maybe it is pointless and it's just best to move on, that is, kinda ignore it all.
Also, it might be difficult but if you can't bring yourself to like this particular community, then there are others.

Re: can we talk about how hostile this site is now
Well this topic has changed substantially from eblu's initial points.
I think instead of arguing over how hostile the site is or is not, it may be best for everyone to take a moment and think about how what they have said may have been considered hostile/clique-ish/rude/dismissive. Even if you didn't think it was hostile, thinking of how others may interpret your statements is always good. Introspection.
My personal opinion, I would say I definitely feel less inclined to post around here, because most active topics made now have a tendency to snowball very fast about something controversial between a few users strongly opinionated about that topic. And then if I do post people generally ignore it to continue with each other. So I guess I am saying I don't think hostility is quite the problem. I do think being dismissive (which can easily lead to a sense of hostility) is a problem.
But in general I am less active now (and have been for a while.) Which I feel bad about.

see I told them they were on fire
You claimed people were hostile, and you expected anything less than this?

If it makes anyone feel better, this is the least hostile thing of the day.

Re: can we talk about how hostile this site is now
It would help if the older members had involved themselves with other groups on CI. For all the talk of "taking the first step" I don't see anyone else putting the same effort to get to know others like I did when it came to the chao community, roleplayers, and FG&C posters. This plays into why I didn't like the club analogy.

Re: can we talk about how hostile this site is now
The talk of "taking the first step" is on the part of the person who wants to be involved, not on everyone else to involve them.
Like, with me. I dipped a while ago to focus on my own discord server, which was building up, as well as school and stuff just keeping this out of my mind. When I came back, no one sent me a PM saying "oh ok well here's the discord server, here's this here's that, you're supposed to act like this, believe in that, bla bla bla." I had to take the first step and ask about the discord. Put myself into the flow of things. Learn what people like and don't like. Know which people believe in what. Life isn't a dating sim, where you're given predetermined options and outcome for every interaction and can google a person to figure out all of their interests.

Then stop acting like it's a problem my dude.

I think the point I wanted to make is lost here.

Insert Smug anime girl here
But for real if people wanted to join the discord they can just message me I've been letting in lots of new members who asked and they've been welcomed with open arms and we're all talking together. People who have an issue with the server are people who felt ignored 99% of the time or disagreed with other members for whatever reason and had to leave because they felt they couldn't talk to people who had different mindsets than them.
Honestly it sucks that they couldn't just realize people can disagree with them and still be friends but I find it immature of them to hop onto ci anytime they feel they gotta trash talk the discord cause "people were mean and cliquey there :(" I see no cliques in the group and call me biased or whatever I'm just tired of people being hostile towards the discord because they couldn't suck it up and realize people don't have to talk to them/don't have to agree with them on everything.
EDIT: inb4 denial pic

Don't call other people immature given what you started with our own.

If you're talking about the buster situation I owned up to that like way back when so I'd say I'm mature enough to do that?
Idk I'd say I'm mature enough not to continually start crap on a sonic forum

You and I both have a long way to go before any of us are in any position to tell people what to think and expect ourselves to be taken seriously. Specifically, within each others groups.
