I kind of want to do this with my GBA... Not sure how to do it and what material to use though ;o

Crash: I am a believer when it comes to model spraypaint. if you can find the brands Testors or Model Masters, those are great. that said, i have not yet tested how they feel and hold up on the outside of an object. I've only used them inside clear gameboys, and they work super well. Krylon is also a great brand, and it should be extremely easy to find. Surprisingly to a lot of people, sprayed game items don't feel gross at all, but it's really important to let your object sit untouched for 24 hours or more after painting. That way, the paint will have a chance to set up, and it won't feel tacky.
Tobi: is it a clear blue gba?? If so, painting it on the inside should be really fun. I have no experience with putting a light in one, though. Not sure if that was going to be part of your plan, but from what I've seen, you pretty much have to rip a light panel from a DS & stick it in there. Painting is much easier though. I also recommend model spraypaint or pretty much anything from the krylon brand.

Holla. Finally got some good pictures that accurately represent colors. The Backlights still seem pretty hard to see, but that's just how backlights photograph.
I'm planning to make three or four gameboys as presents for my friends, so expect lots more info soon. (Including a real-life functional BMO from Adventure Time WOW GUYS!)
have this sprite in the mean time. you can save him and give him fun colors in mspaint if you're afraid to mod real ones!!!!

^I doubt you'd get one for free for asking like that. Scratch that, you want one for free?
You know, you should open a shop for stuff like this. I'd certainly order one :)

Not to show off other people in your topic, but I found this guy a while ago.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/dreamcast/
This guy basically creates his own box art, disc art and manuals for the Dreamcast. Not only that but you can buy them from him in different cases, so if I wanted the PAL version of Shenmue. I could buy it off him, along with his own custom art, authentic looking working CD's along with a Manual and everything.
Sorry again for stealing the thunder, but it is pretty amazing.

Retro that is actually a super cool find!! Don't ever like hesitate to post anything cool you find in here! I always love to see this stuff.
Also, loudclaw, thanks for the compliment, but I'm not currently doing any commissions for controllers, mainly because I've ever only done two! Ha. I need a bit more experience with those, and I'd need some $$$ of course.

Re: Poseidon's Gameboy Factory. Image-heavy.
Would you consider selling a custom gameboy every once in a while? I'm gonna buy one at some point, and one like these are probably one I'd rather spend some extra money on.
Re: Poseidon's Gameboy Factory. Image-heavy.
Most definitely! I'd make custom ones to sell any time, tbh!

Re: Poseidon's Gameboy Factory. Image-heavy.
controller tyme.
this was an absolute b****.
i had to snip plastic off the white frame that sits inside the controller so it'd fit in the new case, and when i finally got it back together, only the PS button and thumbsticks were responsive, and i was like what. and then after a bit of tweaking, all the buttons worked, except the L2/R2 buttons didnt function quite right, so i opened it up again and tried to set them right, closed it up again, and NOTHING. NO DICE.
turns out that the wires that connect something important to the board on the right side had snapped out from the solder, so I stripped the wires a little and soldered them back into place.
now it works yay!!!!!!!!

Oooohhh! I know! Do a Wii remote. Make it blue, with neon green buttons/joystick, and make the Player Lights (The ones along the bottom) orange! And do the Nunchuk to match.
Re: Poseidon's Gameboy Factory. Image-heavy.
I started a youtube channel primarily for modding purposes.
my first video is just a little show and tell of my favorite gameboys.
