FromSoft does it again (aka a thread about Bloodborne)

Post by Dr. Roivas »

Okay, so for those who don't know there was a leaked FromSoft game known as Project Beast, and given the fact that FromSoft has the ****** Midas Touch with games people were naturally excited. Common speculation was that we were getting a Demon's Souls 2, which you know that would be fine and dandy, but as revealed during E3 it's actually a game called Bloodborne.

There's not much to show as of current but I do have a couple of small articles and also this one large one.

Also here's the actual trailer for the game. This **** is pretty grim so if you don't like that kind of thing don't watch this.

But what's really exciting about this is that it marks the return of Hidetaka Miyazaki, the man who lead the development of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, and was absent for the creation of Dark Souls 2. There were complaints that Dark Souls 2 was lacking in various departments compared to its predecessors, and with Miyazaki at the wheel again it should make for an incredibly interesting ride.

so yeah if you couldnt guess my erection has literally pierced the roof and i am going to buy a ps4 as soon as i can

While that's all well and good, the developer has also confirmed what many of us suspected for some time: Bloodborne is indeed the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. In a section detailing the upcoming title's combat, it explains "One of the ways we are bringing that sense of danger to life is by keeping the deep strategic elements from Demon’s Souls, while also transitioning from the passive and block-and-attack style of Demon’s Souls to a quicker, more offensive and active combat style with close-range weapons and guns."

The phase of video game sadomasochism is over man, we're all doing cool things like stressing out over animatronics and going berserk at chuck e cheese during your cousins birthday party.

I've had this pre-ordered. At first hearing they've pushed back release bothered me but I realized waiting wouldn't be so bad, being that my backlog might have kept me from playing Bloodborne day one.

Looking forward to Bloodborne. It of course seems to be much faster paced than even the fastest of characters in DS, which is saddening as I usually went for Sword n Board. I'd like to play it on someone else's tab before buying it, though.

Well play it again because it's a great experience that would be a shame to miss because you gave up. Like Dark Souls, it's not difficult once you figure out the mechanics.

Fun times, but that one guy can go die in a hole.

Eh, it's better than Dark Souls but I can't be asked to trudge through about 20 minutes from the last checkpoint to the next boss, fighting I don't know how many people along the way just to die from some BS the boss pulls.

At least they fixed Stamina.

i played bloodborne a little while back with some friends, honestly a REALLY fun experience. made a little bit better even because we decided to make our character akihiko sanada for some reason.
loved the weapons honestly, favorite was probably the tonitrus, with the kirkhammer being a close second
the story was really cool as well tbh and it was structured well, they presented it nicely in contrast with, say, dark souls 2 which i wasnt a huge fan of
also spoilers for several final bosses
Spoiler:
1. why was gehrman so dang tough
2. is it just me or did anyone else think the moon presence look kinda like a lovecraftian shadow the hedgehog
one last thing

souls games become an easier experience when you realize you can sprint past just about every enemy. not always the best idea, but usually not too bad.
