How do you feel about this game finally being officially released outside of Japan?
I'm really looking forward to getting it!

I'm pretty happy about it. I'll have to pick it up some time.

Though, I'm still waiting for the day Mother 3 is released overseas.

I got the game today! It's very fun, but requires a LOT of level grinding. It feels so surreal to finally be able to play it!

I'm pretty bummed because I expected it to be a 3DS release. Why would they release a game like Mother and put it on the Wii U and not on the 3DS instead/as well?

Probably to boost Wii U sales. Other than that, it should totally be on 3ds, too.

^And the sad part is that there are probably Mother fans who already own a 3DS who will buy a WiiU just for the VC versions of the first 2 games. Then again, Nintendo's been mismanaging the VC on both WiiU and 3DS since the very beginning if not since the Wii days.

I doubt even hardcore mother fans would buy a Wii U simply for beginnings. They already have translation mods and such for that reason. Now that there's an official translation, those mods will be edited again.

More than likely it was just a fiat on Nintendo's part. Maybe they thought they could charge more if it were on a console, or maybe it was just simply easier to throw a port onto the Wii U.

1. Never under estimate the lengths to which the most fanatical will go.
2. I hear SNES carts of Earthbound are one of the most overinflated of retro games on eBay.
3. There are people who will buy a legitimate release just to say they own a legitimate copy even if they've been playing pirated copies for years.
4. Virtual Console releases are emulated, not ports.
5. The Earthbound Beginnings rom used for the US VC is virtually unchanged from the unreleased NES version that has been circulating online for years.

Earthbound Beginnings is cool. I'm definitely gonna play it when me and my brother are done with Earthbound.

Also, If Earthbound isn't on the 3DS what's the point of putting Beginnings on the 3DS?
