i really ****** hope it's a rumour, it's bad enough Spyro was made into a Skylanders, but if they're making Crash into a Skylander too, it's going to be a short time before they're officially dead with Skylanders.

If true, then it's his final resting place. That toy line is a graveyard.

Re: Crash Bandicoot is coming back
what do you guys think about the last 2 main games in the series anyways?? the titan and mutant games?? if crash were to come back otherwise would you like a reboot treatment like Ratchet and Clank or do you think they should pick up from mind over mutant?? personally i think the aesthetic they were going for with the titan duology was atrocious, even as an edgy child i couldn't bring myself to enjoy it, so even if the bandicoot were to come back as a skylander i would prefer if they went with the original design and tone.
that said i do still hope that's but a rumor because in goji's words skylanders is indisputably a graveyard (bowser and dk aside)

Keep it away don't do this to me
Re: Crash Bandicoot is coming back
I liked the humour in the 2 spin-off games, and the gameplay wasn't bad as a 9 year old babby, the direction with the artstyle and junk was eh. There wasn't really a need to re-do any character's design, they all looked distinctive, and Crash is the only one that didn't really lose all of his charm. They also swapped out the majority of the voice actors (off the top of my head, only Aku Aku retained his original voice), which is pretty sucky since a lot of the characters' voices were much more unique than they became after the redesign.
There's really no reason why Sony can't just get a good platforming company to design a reboot of the series that stays true to its roots. The original 3 games still hold up incredibly well, and even the two party games that came after, Crash Team Racing and Crash Bash, hold up much better than most current games. I could play that **** for months straight.

Can you not? If you want to post a video, post a video that's related to the actual possible revival, not "lol u got troled xd is axtualy vido from 1st cras bandikewt gaim lmaooo" video. It's a waste of time and insulting.

Re: Crash Bandicoot is coming back
honestly i'm not mega level interested, going on 24 this year and i played the series nearly 20 years ago and definitely have no desire to replay warped definitely, mediocre game, though i'll buy it anyway because i don't wanna be left out of this midlife crisis gamers have chronically and i sorta am nostalgic for crash 2... but why can't i have a prettier CTR too
though i'll need crash's skylander that's adorable
overall weakest point to sony's p great conference, what i do hope though is this convinces them to move crash forward because new games i do care about, not the 90s

Re: Crash Bandicoot is coming back
Skylanders was p weak, but the remaster was great news. It's not like the Crash games were even awful to begin with, they were beloved classics on the PS1 that spawned an epic franchise that sorta disappeared after early to mid PS2.
Dunno why you're being so critical Batty, the first game wasn't exactly a masterpiece but the rest proved to be amazing improvements on the formula given. Hardly mediocre. A lot of games start with a remaster so companies can gauge interest in an older franchise. A great example would be the Sly Trilogy, which remastered the old games for PS3. Two years later, they released Thieves in Time which did phenomenal from a ratings point of view. Unsure how well it sold though.
So yeah, hope they bring out a new game a few years from now, but in the meantime it's great that Crash is getting a well deserved remaster for his great games that a lot of people still love and enjoy.

Re: Crash Bandicoot is coming back
why am i being critical? because 3 is full of minigame padding and uninspired level design in the same way spyro 3 was, and that contractual obligation definitely gave both companies a better mantra in sequels of future ips. mediocre doesn't mean some broken unplayable awful garbage, it simply means it's a moderate quality that isn't that great. but i thought mentioning that i'm fond of 2 and ctr would be an obvious context clue that i didn't think the entire series was mediocre, so, sorry sweetheart. sometimes i forget just because i know what i mean doesn't mean it comes acrossFox Boy wrote:

also i understand the sales dynamics of remasters, i buy them, and i'll buy this, and while i'm not super interested, i said that i'll be excited if and when this moves the franchise forward. it's possible to look back on something, accept what it did for it's time, and like it, while also objectively looking beyond the prestige time has given it and actually evaluate the game. so yeah i appreciate they're trying to revive interest in crash, but i don't believe things are timeless classics because everything has new nuances as it ages. i'm not claiming 'crash 3 is bad you're all plebeians for not seeing it' but i have no desire to suffer warped again, personally

Say what you will about Crash, but insulting the last and greatest Spyro game in the original franchise means the gloves are off.
You are not critical, you throw the word uninspired but your opinions remain as any Kotaku or Polygon writer. As far as the rest of us we realize that we get what we pay for when it comes to this era. Some things don't hold up really well, and some things proved to show why companies were able to compete with each other. Spyro 3 didn't just have minigames, you took control of new characters at times during each new world and each one genuinely played very differently. To the point where you even play as Sparx himself!
Now, consider I myself realize that the standards and bars to be excited for this game are about the same as any game from this period. Around the turn of the century is when people wound up being more demanding and expecting more given the rising cost and the rising production value in games continued to increase. But instead these days we're left with what winds up generating the most profit. Much like it was in the past, but given that the new tools of profit are generally incredibly unappealing to traditional gamers the amount people come to expect has fallen back to 90's levels except now you can expect **** and bile from people like Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, and a lot of the times Bethesda. Sony and Nintendo are the only ones producing anything close to traditional gaming and even then they still double dip with other revenue enhancing practices that even I admit I've fallen to for Nintendo.
It's not fair to judge a game based on how we see it today, if it was bad yesterday, it'll still be bad today and if it was good yesterday, it deserves to be judged based on the same standards we judged it yesterday.

Re: Crash Bandicoot is coming back
oh honey, i can't take you seriously when you use reaction images and
also i don't know what your complex is with kotaku and polygon since i don't read either but there is probably a safe place to talk about your feelings in the ign comments
but seriously, stuffing a game with different playstyles doesn't flesh a game out or make it remotely revolutionary, with that many characters it's more a straight up admission the devs have no idea what to do with the franchise. they weren't well implemented and feel like padding for a rehash of a game effort went into, spyro 2. but like i said before, i don't make fans feel comfortable about their arbitrary attachments to dated ip's because that doesn't mean anything to me, if age has subtracted from the quality of something, i idk i call it like i see it i see no reason to delude my bank account otherwise
also i'm a little older than you i think, so you may have forgotten, but around then, collectathons and 3D platformers commonly threw as many "deep and different" sideshows to pad the game at you as possible, even for it's time i don't think you can say with a straight face crash bandicoot in janky air combat and scuba gear was anything mindblowing, i'm guessing you remember the few stages you actually played. even a low budget game like chameleon twist took more meaningful gameplay risks
i was disappointed by both sequels back as a little girl as a huge spyro and crash fan, and time hasn't made me any more fond :/ also i am just not that concerned with "traditional gamers" if their function is to like rant at me with bizarre metaphors like bile, i dunno what to tell you about that because i see gaming as a far better industry now than the days i had to sift through garbage to find something good at a rental store

but yeah tl;dr i'm still gonna support the remasters but it's 3 i can't deal with anymore
