So, you know the little icon sprites in the Super Smash Bros. game series? They look like so:
(the little heads below the pictures of Mario or Bowser)
yeah, I've always liked them for some odd reason. Never could really put my finger on why. But I digress.
In the original Super Smash Bros for the N64, because of the hardware, the icons were incredibly small - not even 20x20 pixels. For example, Mario's icon sprite can be found in the first picture.
Anyways, I was inspired by those sprites, because they had very weird restrictions on sizes. I think the sprite size was something like 8x12, though I can't remember exactly, so I went "what if I re-did them, included modern characters and their alts, and gave them sensible restrictions, like 10x10?"
And thus, I set to work.
So, here are some examples of the stock icons I've done so far. As an aside, I haven't updated any of these sprites since my first year of college started back last september, and I switched to a different system entirely, so the R.O.B., Luigi, Mario, Lucas, and Roy sheets are out of date (due to Project M patches and Sm4sh DLC respectively). I also am not currently able to work on them, as much as I want to, because I have yet to find a program that works as well as Paint XP did for me. If anybody has any good programs that can be used as a substitute for pixel-level work on Paint XP, please let me know!
Fun fact: I've always taken palettes directly from artwork of the specific character or alt. palette, as I don't actually have any experience with official colour palettes for situations like this. A

And now every other sheet I've done so far -

So yeah, Comments, criticisms, requests, and the like are all welcome! Like I said, I can't work on any right now, I do have full intentions to finish the stocks off!
