Is petting a Chao bad?

I'm trying to get a hero fly fly but I'm afraid if I pet my Chao a lot, it would turn it into a hero normal chao.

No, it wont.
As long as you give it a lot of fly chaos drives (Purple) it will become a hero fly fly, and pet it with hero characters, such as Sonic. It will evolve in about 3-5 hours.

Wait, so your saying that you want a H/F/F, and your afraid of petting it because it might become a H/N?
If so, you are incorrect. As long as you give it fly drives/animals, and look after it so it's alignment is towards hero,
It'll still be a H/F/F, regardless of how much you pet it.
Now, before I finish, if you give your chao any other type of drive/animal, closer to it's evolution, it might become that.
Also, be sure that if you use the "hero and dark" (With a hero and a dark taking care of all the chao) raising method,
be sure it at least slightly looks a hero, or it might become a dark or a neutral.

Yeah, petting it isn't bad. Just give it chaos drives and animals and that should give you the type you want.

Although petting a chao too much is bad because it can get spoiled!

^ Well, the only issue with a Chao being spoiled is that it'll want you to feed it more, and if you don't notice, it will run up to you, hoping to be petted (and if you don't, its happiness goes down). So, you basically can't leave your system on all night when that happens.

To expand on what Amphithere said, Spoiled Chao start feeling negative feelings when they are ignored or not given attention, sometimes even suffering negative effects by being made increasingly happy. If you're going to leave the game on, make sure you're in the center of the water.

simple when i let my game turned on i go to bed when i wake up the chao is still there i pet it load and give him some fruits to eat then he reincarnates :)
works for me ewerytime ;)

nope, but if you pet him way too much it will be attracted by the character
