Finally getting into SADX's chao; have some questions

Post by sanicandchoa »

I'm seriously trying out SADX's chao after lots of time with SA2 and SA2B's chao over the years. Have some questions before I start.

1. What's the best way to grind animals? E-102 seems to be the easiest because of all the enemies in his stages. However, he doesn't have a good place to farm Run type animals easily. :/

2. Can animals you get in stages accessed via the menu instead of the adventure field be used for Chao raising? I don't think so, but I want to be sure.

3. Is Emerald Coast the best place to farm rings?

These are all for the 2004 PC version of the game.

1) Personally, I use Sonic in Emerald Coast for Swim and Run animals and Twinkle Park (the first section) for Fly and other Run animals, and then Red Mountain for Power.
The most important part for me is that it's the same character and two of his farming stages are near very close to a garden.

2) I don't thiiiiiiink so. I don't have the 2004 version, but the Steam version and the 2004 version are both ports of the GC version so they should be the same.
That and I don't play SADX much, so I don't really know. This seems to tedious to really work in practice anyways.

3) Yes. Just like City Escape it probably has the most rings (my experience has about 310), and if it doesn't it has the least enemies (overtly dangerous ones, if not overall) and traps.
Also probably the shortest.

E-102 also has access to Emerald Coast and Red Mountain, but with a lot more enemies. Thanks for the Twinkle Park tips, though if I'm doing that, I might as well stick with Sonic for Emerald Coast. :)

The best way to farm rings is dig up a magnet shield as Knuckles in the adventure fields, go to the Station Square Hotel, and stand on the ring generator button. Leave for an hour or two, play which ever Knuckles stage you think you can most easily beat without losing rings, and bam, many thousands of extra rings in the bank without much effort at all.

Alternatively, Stand in the hotel were the first Ring manifests as Gamma and tape down the fire button to shoot the ring generator button repeatedly. This might actually be faster than the Knuckles method and doesn't have the possibly lengthy set-up of finding a magnet shield, but I can't remember if a turbo controller is needed to automate it since Gamma has to be firing constantly for best results while Knuckles can just stand there.

Other characters can take advantage of the hotel's ring generator, but Knuckles and Gamma are the only ones that don't have to manually collect rings.

There's also Casinopolis as Sonic if you're good at the Pinball machines.

I'm in the same boat as you. I recently started playing too. The animal glitch is super easy once you get past that first animal. Haven't played SA2b in a while, but I remember having a hard time doing the glitch. I haven't really had to farm animals. I just play through levels to try and get emblems.

On a random note, have you noticed the Chao making a "mm-mmmmm!" noise. I can't figure out what that noise is supposed to mean. Never heard it on SA2

That's a bit harder for me since I'm getting the Action State emblems via level select. No way to transfer the animals I get in them to the Chao Garden.

I have almost all of Action State emblems now, so grinding and.or animal glitching it is.
