Sonic doesn't celebrate the 4th of July anymore because past events and parties have been especially traumatic for him.

Just look at the terror on his face while watching the fireworks.

Meh, the Pound is still worth more than the Euro or US Dollar, and it's not like the USD isn't at or near historic lows itself. I can remember a time when a quarter could buy anything in a Coke or Pepsi vending machine and gasoline could be found for less than a dollar a gallon, and when they were alive, my parents told stories of a time when those vending machines cost a nickel and gas was a quarter a gallon.

Common woes over how inflation is making all money less valueable aside, when was the last time the US Government did anything worth being proud of? The Apollo program comes to mind, but that was before I was even born, NASA is a shell of its former glory, and we've been reduced to relying on other space faring nations just to get our satellites into low Earth orbit and our people and supplies to the International Space Station.

Let me reiterate: The nation that, nearly half a century ago, put a man on the moon, has not only failed to top that accomplishment, but can't even launch a satalite unassisted.

And at the risk of pissing off people on both sides of the pond, despite being the first nation to build a working nuclear weapon, the United States still has a power grid that is mostly coal fired while the French have converted almost the entirety of their non-renewable power to nuclear, and before anyone starts exaggerating the dangers of nuclear power, I'd like to note that coal power plants have more on the job deaths annually than nuclear power plants have had ever.
