CIHI: Costume?

Post by Nano »

Here's the main post

What are you going to dress up as for Halloween? If not, what's your favorite costume you had as a child, be it Halloween or otherwise.

In the past I've been
a mummy
Zorro
an indian
Link
a shadowman
The Headless Horseman
Darth Vader
a scarecrow

Dressing as Link back when cosplay wasn't a thing got some funny reactions.

i don't think i'll be dressing up this year

halloween is my mother's birthday and i'm just gonna stay in especially because my professor decided to cancel class for that night

if she wants me to dress up that's fine lmao i just don't think i have anything though but i'll wear like a silly hat or something

otherwise, i really never had a favorite costume because i could never afford or fit into costumes i really really liked ? not that i wasn't grateful for the costumes i got to have but i never got to be decked out like i would have wanted

or well, i now that i'm thinking about it, i really liked my pokemon costume i had when i was 8, it was a charmeleon costume and yeah it had a mask and whatnot that wasn't homemade actually

party city was quite the thing, and i guess it still is but i can't remember the last time i've been in one (since i've never been in a proper living and financial situation to throw parties rip)

I usually lack the funds to put together a costume and generally think picking one up from Wal-Mart lazy to the point of insulting to those who put effort into their costumes.

Anyways, as a kid, I went two years each as Bart Simpson, a Pumpkin, and a Ghost.
During my teen years, I got quite a bit of mileage of a "phantom" costume that was basically a black robe with a red trimmed hood.
My Senior year of High school, I did a Shadow the Hedgehog cosplay consisting of tight, black sweat pants, a tight black hoodie, a triangle of faux fur safety pinned to the chest, some inkjet on card stock spines and ears safety pinned to the hood, white gloves, white sneakers with a red stripe, and a bit of black face paint on my nose.
My Freshman year of College, I dressed up as my Mewtamer persona(This was back in the days when it was little more than a recolor of Lance from FRLG) with a spikey hair piece made from purple sheet foam and a sword made from styrofoam and aluminium foil.
For Halloween 2011, I went as a Compy Cube(similar to a Rubik's cube, but corner turning) using corrogated plastic for structure, construction paper for stickers, and Gorilla Tape for cut lines.

Though I do find myself wondering at the of dying my hair and beard purple this year.

Imma dress up a stuffes animal using napkins as well. If you guys want a cheaper option could use paper to make a raccoon mask and tie an old sheet to use as a cape.
