I reported 2 spambots the other day. how about we make fun of 'em? want to make 'em cry anyone?
Sounds fun.

Say, they should make a spambot hunting season!

There is also another way of reconizing them. If every single word is a random link to some advert site.

I saw a new user post in a topic. They seemed suspicious (it was kind of off-topic and on-topic at the same time. ._.), but I couldn't tell if it was a spambot or not. They haven't made any other posts so far. Let's keep an eye on users like that until we find out.

Posting in this because spambots have changed... and people are having trouble identifying the new breeds. Here's a few things to look for:
  • These "breeds" of spambots have seemingly ordinary names. Most of the time, the username includes a first and last name.
  • Still, they will almost always post in the wrong forum.
  • They advertise one of their products, though more camouflaged than before.
  • If you are unsure if something is a spambot, check their post count and their recent posts.
    • A spambot's first or second post will include spam.
    • If a spambot does not spam in all of its posts, its non-spamming posts will be: a. in the wrong forum (usually pretty confusing topics, too), or if it's a reply: b. very vague and could apply to many topics. Example of B would be: "I like the replies of this topic..." or "I see many good points being made..."
Example of a modern spambot: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=38343

OK, I encountered one like that. I didn't know it was a spambot at first due to being a new breed, so thanks for bringing that up.
