Grass Knot is nice, but an Infernape with max Speed and Earthquake will do a 1 hit KO, unless Pika is holding a Shuca Berry. Nice to see Red's Team though. Just might need that Defense, since Earthquake is a very very common move.Pikachao wrote:Pika:

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Yeah. But most of the time, if people are going to use EQ in a double battle, they want to take out both, not just settle for 1. So if they see a Togekiss, they might not go for it.
Pssst. Thanks SonicRainboom for the avatar!
Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
EQ would flatten Pika even with the defense. There's no real way to avoid that. Same with the Shuca Berry. Plus, with Volt Tackle draining HP, it'll be too weak to stand up to EQ with any hope of surviving. Honestly, I'd swap Thunder Bolt for Agility. Get that in when your foe is setting something up(yeah, you need prediction) and you can outrun most threats.EliOceans wrote:Yeah. Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Well why shouldn't I do that with Bastiodon?
Pssst. Thanks SonicRainboom for the avatar!
Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Because, we're talking about a double battle team with bastiodon. Pika needs one agility to outrun almost everything, aside from the elite speed pokemon. Bastiodon needs at least two Rock Polishes, and maybe three curses. Even after that, that leaves Bastiodon with just one extra stage of speed, not enough for a proper sweep. That gives the opponent at least 5 turns to attack. Togekiss may be fairly defensive, but if it get's hit by two strong attacks on the first turn, it has a really good chance of being stomped. And without Togekiss, Bastiodon falls apart at the seams.
EDIT: Steelix, among most other steel pokemon, walls Bastiodon completely. Most of them are armed with Earthquake, making them one of it's worst enemies. The ones with Earth Power being twice as bad.

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Well, when facing an Earthquake-style death for Pika, I'd swap into Lax or Gyara. Speaking of which...
Lax:
Adamant
Eartquake
Body Slam
Crunch
Rest
(Smogon strategy, just missing selfdestruct. How do that?)
Aero:
Adamant
Iron Head
Stone Edge
Rock Polish
Fly
Gyara:
Careful
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Waterfall
Bounce (Yes, learned as a Magikarp)

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Selfdestruct requires Pokemon XD to obtain. So, yeah. You probably can't do that.
Anyways, I have my own strategy to be rated. This is for a 6-on-6 double battle, so even if this technique fails, I still have my other pokrmon to fall back on.
Rapidash@Focus Sash
Nature: Timid
Ability: Flash Fire
Moves:
Hypnosis
Horn Drill
Agility
Overheat
Machamp@Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
Ability: No Guard
Moves:
Protect
Bullet Punch
Dynamic Punch
Endure
Yeah, pretty predictable strategy. No Guard lets Horn Drill and Hypnosis hit all the time, and agility lets Rapidash outrun everything that's faster than it. Machamp has Endure and Protect to make sure it survives a long time, and Bullet Punch for that odd pokemon that may have a Focus Sash, or just needs a good punch to bring down. For ghosts or Sturdy pokemon, Overheat and DynamicPunch deal with them respectively. Still, a bit risky, but with the rest of my team, this could be used as a major weapon.

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Very nice. But since most Machamps have No Guard, instead of Guts most of the time, you never know when someone's gonna pull out a Fissure on you.
But it's still an inescapable plan. I give it a 9.

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Only one pokemon is faster than Rapidash and can use a OHKO move, and that's Dugtrio. And with an agility under it's belt, it outspeeds even that. Plus, Focus Sash prevents a OHKO.
Ack, just found out the hard way that No Guard doesn't work on OHKO moves.

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Ok, I thought of a gimmicky, 3-poke strategy for a double battle.
First two pokemon out are Bronzong and Medicham with these sets.
Bronzong
Nature: Sassy
Ability: Levitate
Item: Light Clay
Moves:
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Skill Swap
- Explosion
Medicham
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Pure Power
Item: Salac Berry
Moves:
- Endure
- Reversal
- Bullet Punch
- Protect
First turn, Medicham uses Endure, Bronzong uses Skill Swap on Medicham. Simple as that. Medicham's moveset is made to be recycled later, if this strategy fails.
Second turn, switch out Medicham for this;
Slaking
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Truant
Item: Focus Sash
Moves:
- Return
- Earthquake
- Protect
- Shadow Claw
And, for Bronzong's attack, you select Skill Swap on Medicham again, so Slaking ends up getting it.
Why the jolly nature? Well, with over 800 attack, the Adamant nature won't add much, and it's Speed will come in handy. Focus Sash keeps it from fainting i the opponent chooses to hit Medicham, assuming they don't team up on it.
Both Bronzong and Medicham are disposable in this strategy, so, get Slaking to use Protect and Bronzong Explosion. Get rid of the two pokemon out already and pull out someone else.
Now, I'm not sure if Bronzong would loaf after the second Skill Swap, but if it does, then make Slaking attack that turn. THEN use Protect/Explosion.
To further aid this, get something like Togekiss to use Follow Me to draw away Increased Priority moves and let Slaking continue it's rampage. Sure, this strategy is risky and gimmicky, but it's fun.

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
To avoid earthquake and other ground attacks, I've taught my Pika Magnet Rise. It works the same Levitate, right??? Right???
Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
It works the same as Levitate, yes, but in the turn that it tries to use it, the opponent can just slaughter it with something else(assuming it doesn't have a Focus Sash). Regardless, Magnet Rise has little use on a frail pokemon like Pikachu.

First of all, Evolve Totodile. Secondly, dun bother with a bunch of normal types. Ypu'll just waste EXP on them, since they won't be of much help. Choose one or two of them and keep and raise. Otherwise, you'll have a bunch of low levels against high levelled pokemon.

Umbreon is pretty much useless. I mean....tackle? Really? Come on, you must have some TM's or something! Regardless, it seems pretty much useless. Umbreon's attacking stats are awful, and it has three normal attacks to boot. Just putting that out there.

I guess for in-game it's not TOO TOO awful, but still, Tackle and Quick Attack? Certainly Umbreon tried to learn SOMETHING better? At least buy it Dark Pulse.
Anyway, for an in-game team, this is a meh team. If it was in any form of competetive battle, you'd be screwed.
