[SA2B] Races and Karate walkthrough (updated 3/feb/12)

Post by Mayo »

I had some of this info here for at least two years, might as well put it here if you want to make the Chao Races/Karate descriptions a little more detailed like a guide.

Anything with a * means it has yet to be tested or may need further confirmation, anyone can volunteer to confirm the information provided

Beginner races:
The very first and easiest race mode that you need to complete, this race is divided up by 4 sections which specialise in a different ability (run, swim, fly and power). Completing all 3 difficulties for every race will grant you an emblem, along with a medal for your Chao and other race modes will be unlocked.

If you want a chao to beat all these races, here are the general stats that you will need:

Swim: 200-300
Fly: 300
Run: 350-500
Power: 300-400

Aiming around 400 for each stat should do fine

Crab Pool- Swimming course
This race is just a big pool your chao must swim across, but if you have a chao with a good amount of running it'll give your chao a head-start at the beginning.

Prize Toy: Shovel
The Shovel allows your chao to plant trees.

Stump Valley- Flying course
The course may require every single ability that your chao has, even though this race requires a good flying ability.
Good run stat is essential here. Even if your chao doesn't have a good fly stat, you can make that up by having a good power and swim ability. But if your chao does have an excellent fly stat, all you need is some decent power to easily beat this race.

Prize Toy: Watering Can
The Watering Can allows your chao to water trees, this will speed up the growth of the tree. If the tree is already fully grown, it may speed up the growth process of the fruits.

Mushroom Forest- Running course
This course needs running and running only, keep lots of stamina handy if your chao trips over or is being outrun by other chao. 500 run points should do the trick.

Prize Toy: Rattle

Block Canyon- Power course
You’ll need decent running and really good power (400 stat points for power) for this one, you may need to keep lots of stamina handy if your Chao’s power is relatively low.

Prize Toy: Car

Jewel races:

Here’s where things get harder. There are lots of races to complete, as each race now has 5 different difficulty levels instead of 3. Beating the final difficulty of one of the races will earn you a medal. Racing at least the first difficulty in Aquamarine, Topaz, Peridot, Garnet and Onyx will unlock the 6th race course, Diamond.
Completing all 6 different race courses will earn you another emblem.

If you want to clear every race on the hardest difficulty with one Chao, here are the stats that you may need:

Swim: 1800-2100
Fly: 1600-1800
Run: 1800-2100
Power: 1700-1900

Aiming for 1700 or more for most stats should be fine.
*

<separate race descriptions comming soon>

Beginner Karate:
200-300 points for every stat do do the trick

Intermediate Karate:
The bare minimum required to complete this difficulty is 500-600 points in each stat.

Expert Karate:
The minimum points required are 1000-1200 in each stat

Super Karate:
1700-1800 points in every stat is recommended

Mini helpful reference thing list which I cannot think of a decent name for:*
RUN: crawl 0-49, walk 50-667, larger steps 668-1337, run 1338+
SWIM: drowning 0-99, swim 100-667, improved swimming 668+
POWER: [Karate only] simple punch/kick 0-399, spin punch/kick 400+
FLY: [Garden only] fall 0-99, fly 100+ (if they are capable, Chao will choose to fly randomly when jumping off ledges)
