If a Chao game were introduced to the 3DS...
Well, then, this is actually a pretty good topic, if I do say so myself. What if Nintendo and Sega agreed to make a follow-up game to the Chao Garden? What if we could have a whole new way to raise chao in 3D? What features would you like to be added?
Furthermore, to get this started, I will suggest things that I would like while fantasizing this game:
-New and updated gardens, as well as introducing Chaos Chao gardens.
-New chao mini games, such as dressing up your chao, and playing sports. But, you actually get to play as your chao, control it, not just blow out the stamina gauge and break your thumbs.
-New items, and different breeds and types introduced.
What do you guys think would be cool in a game like this?

Re: If a Chao game were introduced to the 3DS...
If Chao raising returned and was released as a stand-alone platform exclusive, the 3DS would be the best choice of platform, but I will go a step further than Crash32's suggestion and say that Chao would be perfect as a download title accross ALL major platforms. Would also be cool if one could sync their data accross platforms, or at least to the extent the Big 3 and Apple will allow.
As for content, some things I would like to see:
+Gardens:
=All Six Gardens from SA1/2
=Option to Switch each Garden between its DC and GC Layout or to customize its layout.
=Ideas for new Gardens:
-Altar of the Master Emerald(as seen in Past Scenes in SA1)
-A Garden based on the Boss Arena for the Biolizard fight.
-Gardens based on the City, Jungle, Desert, and Ark level themes from SA2.
-A Ice-themed garden
-A Volcano-themed Garden.
-A garden that consist only have a single platform surrounded by an invisible wall with a random light show playing in a black sky(My Idea for a "Chaos Chao" Garden).
-The ability to build completely custom gardens using set pieces from unlocked gardens.
+Races:
=SA1 Circuit with updated SA2 mechanics and perhaps with Hero, Dark, and Challenge options added.
=SA2 Circuit with minimal changes.
=A new circuit with more courses than the SA1 and SA2 circuits combined.
=Ability to go for a walk with one's Chao through the environments used for the races.
=Races have monetary rewards for setting a course record and the first time a particular Chao wins a particular race with the prize money being greater the harder the race.
+Items
=A proper inventory that can hold up to 99 each of every fruit, drive, and animal, up to 10 of every hat, and upto a dozen eggs.
=Jewel and Two-tone Eggs can be found in the black market, but are rare, maybe only 1 appearing in a dozen cycles of inventory.
=Moon(and other unobtainable Jewel breeds) are available, but are the rarest of the rare.
+Misc:
=Chao Transporter allow you to arrange Chao Accross Gardens.
=A Chao Arcade including all the TCG minigames, the Casinopolis Pinball Machines, and several other mini-games for earning rings.
=SA2 Doctor's medical charts available from pause menu when holding a Chao or from Chao Transporter when selecting a Chao.
=Karate is expanded with a Masters league featuring four more levels of competition alone with Endurance modes and double/triple battles.
=Game tracks Breeder Statistics such as breeds raised, evolutions raised, number of Prize winning Chao raised, best rank/value raise for each stat, etc.

Re: If a Chao game were introduced to the 3DS...
The fact that we haven't seen a Chao game on any of the DS consoles yet suggests that we aren't really going to see such a future come to us. I'll just join the club of turning this into a game of "Let's see what ideas people like."
The first thought I had was that the 3DS is a great console for Chao, primarily because of things like streetpass and the pedometer. Assuming there aren't really ideas for earning rings or whatever currency would be used, those are both two great ways to reward players and earn credits or functions in general. That is the first and most important thing that only the 3DS could bring.
As for main functioning, I'd imagine one garden with six to eight Chao, and a moving 3D screen comparable to say My Pokemon Ranch. The bottom screen would be for interacting with Chao, and the top screen for displaying status of a selected Chao or the garden in general. As much as I would love a 3D environment to interact with my Chao in, I don't see that working out very well.
Features previously offered in the Chao Kindergarten would be reached via an openable menu, and offer the same, if not similar services. Maybe new services would be opened for connectivity, such as interacting over the internet. Races and karate, and maybe other competitions, would also have options for interacting online.
The biggest change I would prefer to see is more dynamic means of raising Chao. Even though there were many variables before, more variables both for competition and appearance would be good to see, so the most powerful Chao don't necessarily need to look the same or similar. Maybe even Chaos Chao equivalents for the different stats. There is a lot of play room to expand Chao beyond what they were.
Though obviously this is merely a dream. We're better off hoping that someone will recreate Chao Gardens on the android OS, if not create something that behaves comparable to Chao. The likelihood is low, but we can't entirely give up hope.

Re: If a Chao game were introduced to the 3DS...
I agree with all of that exceot dressing up your chao and having sports as games. There are already too many sport video games, which I think are really stupid since you can just go outside and play baseball. In my opinion, they should keep the races and karate, and put in some other mini games. Original ideas for games. Not sports.livig. wrote:Well, then, this is actually a pretty good topic, if I do say so myself. What if Nintendo and Sega agreed to make a follow-up game to the Chao Garden? Re: If a Chao game were introduced to the 3DbeS...
Im sorry to say this, but the series is in a unending loop of becoming focused on speed, then focusing on other elements. And chao are just part of the loop. Anything thats part of the loop will become abandoned. Sega may introduce a new species that will have the mechanics of chao, but will never be quite the same. The loop started with the very first sonic game, which focused on speed, then more mechanics were introduced, then abandoned, then it focused on speed AGAIN. However, this may not be true. In everyway there is, chao arent coming back, and that makes me mad. But if chao were brought back, would there be new things introduced? It would be cool if more people think of new things for chao. I wouldnt even care if they never got used in fan-made stuff. We will have to sit and think about what chao could have been.

they abandoned chao a while back

I think that a chaos game could be made by a small group of people on the unity engine or something. I would like to see a customizable garden feature where you could choose the ground or walls etc. Also a feature in karate where your chaos gets special attacks depending on the animal you give it.
for example : giving a chao a gorilla will either give it a super punch, or a mmove where the chao beats it's chest and gains a power boost

One thing I would do would be to have a new breeding recipe for Bright Chao, or maybe have Bright Chao Eggs, but have the original formula for shiny two-tones.

Re: If a Chao game were introduced to the 3DS...
The Steam port of SA2(B)'s controls are kind'a poopy though. They were altered to be fit for a keyboard when the game itself just wasn't meant to be played with a keyboard; not practically, anyway. Using joy2key and a USB controller doesn't help.
Oh well, on the upside, it's now easier to take pictures of the Chao.

dear casual (part 2.75)
the controls actually worked really well on a keyboard in the port, and simply plugging in my ps1 controller (i think) worked fine too

Re: If a Chao game were introduced to the 3DS...
The real problem with the Steam versions(in regards to Chao) is the fact that Shiny Two-tones have screwed-up brightness, SA1 steam uses a engine closer to that found in SA1DC than SADXGC or SADXPC, there is no transfers possible with official means, and Jewel Chao are only possible via hacking.
Still, probably the best we are going to get unless Sega decides to do proper remakes of the Adventure Duology.

Is there perhaps a mod that could fix the brightness glitch? I don't know how hard that would be to program, or if it's even possible (as I don't know what causes it), but I'm curious.
