Why is Sonic OVA/Sonic the Movie not in the poll?

Anyways, with Sonic X and Sonic OVa being the only ones I have seen in their completion(I really need to play through my SatAM box-set and get the DVDs of AoStH and Underground), so I cannot really give a proper comparative review.

That said, I must say I perfer the artstyles to the Japanese takes on Sonic, but from what I have seen, SatAM has some of the best writing, and Sonic Underground gets bonus points for being the one animated series that is truly unique(Archie Sonic was originally essentially SatAM in comic form, AoStH came close to SOA SegaSonic, Sonic OVA was heavily influenced by Classic SOJ SegaSonic, and Sonic X is very close to Modern SegaSonic).

Sonic SatAM.

Sonic X has the blessing of being a more 'modern' cartoon, but it doesn't come anywhere close. The fact SatAM is based on the Archie Comics universe (which is the superior sonic universe story-wise) makes it the much much better series in my opinion. Likeable, diverse characters. I adore the sonic cast about as much as any sonic fan, maybe more at times because they kind of introduced me to Atomic Bat, but I'd be lying if I said I could sit through an episode of Sonic X without getting annoyed at someone in the show. Not just Chris. Despite my childhood jealousies, I'm pretty much a huge fan of Sally Acorn now. I remember watching one episode of the show in the past on youtube and I really enjoyed it. I'm gonna prod Atomic and try to find a way to watch all the episodes together sometime.

My list of the sonic cartoons: Best on top, worst on bottom:

The only thing Sonic X really has going for it is artwork and the Metarex Saga. everything else about it it is fairly forgetable.

Though I have to wonder, considering how Archie and SatAM started out as essentially the same thing in different mediums(though Archie would go on to vastly expand on everything and do a decent job of integrating most things from SegaSonic) , I have to wonder: which was based on the other, or were they originally developed in coordination with neither truly being the original or the adaptation?

As for AoStH, the only thing I can remember off hand is the Chaos Emerald Saga, which was uncharactistically serious for that series.

Note to self: find a way to listen to the entirety of the Western Sonic animated series. SatAM might be as easy as popping the DVDs I own into my computer, but the rest I need to track down again since I long ago lost my .avis of AoStH, Sonic Underground the the .ogm of Sonic OVA.

^Archie Comics began running a few months before SatAM, so it is safe to say SatAM is loosely based on Archie Sonic Comics being that the same characters and premise are included; however, the comics did not contain as dark of material as SatAM at first. It wasn't until SatAM took off that Archie decided to take the comics in a more serious direction. The comics are based off SatAM in terms of subtext even though the characters and freedom fight originated from the first fifteen or so issues of Archie that were more comedy based.

SatAM. I would wake up at 5am to catch it on the USA network as a kid and watch it through mostly static because we didn't technically get the channel so the feed was horrendous, so I mostly listened to it lol. Love that series and always will.
