I have Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Adventure 2 battle on gamecube, although the platform is running its course, my controllers are broken, and I'm not sure if I'd be better off just replacing the controllers or buying the games again on steam.
On one hand I already have the games on the console, and around 100% on both games.
On the other, there's (potentially) mod support. (Not sure) and I won't have to maintain a disk.

I'd just get new controllers. How sentimental are you towards your Gamecube?

Well, if you're really into old console gaming and being authentic, just get a new controller. I think you can still find them in some stores and there are tons online.
Though, if you don't really mind that, then definitely go for the steam version. You can easily drop in a 100% save file and continue like normal. Only negative is that you'll be losing your Chao Garden data, but with mods (such as Fusion's Chao Editor) you can copy the stats and look of your chao onto your new game. Though, I have no idea how it works haha.
If you don't mind waiting, steam usually has a sale on SEGA stuff every once in a while and you can get the game for dirt cheap.

You can find new condition Gamecube controllers on Amazon or Ebay for around $20-30 depending on the colour (black and indigo are usually around $20, silver and orange are usually more). If you do buy a new controller, make certain that you're looking for official gamecube controllers, a lot of fakes look exactly like the regulars except without the "Gamecube" text on the front.

I'm still not sure what I wanna do. If I get it on steam it's 4 dollars or so, and GameCube controllers sound expensive.
I think I might do both now that I think about it, thanks guys. ^^
