Casinopolis Pinball Machines

Post by Ivogoji »

Has anyone ever gotten all the Ideyas in the NiGHTS pinball machine? I've been trying for a while but it's surprisingly challenging.

I really like these pinball minigames. Both the machines for Sonic and NiGHTS have a lot stuff to them.

Wait, you can collect Ideya in there?

I pretty much gave up on both of them (especially NiGHTS) and just started deliberately dropping down to the trash.

I am wondering if the pinball is faster than the garbage if you do it right though.

Tch, I don't play Casinopolis to complete the stage, I play it because I like pinball!

My highest Ring count so far without the trash chute is 1499, but I'm sure I can go way higher than that.

I think I did once? Either that or I was very close (I remember getting White, Blue, Green, and Yellow. Red, I'm iffy on). After a few hours of trying/succeeding(?) I left with 9999 rings. Lol I love Pinball

I like pinball, but I never really got into the Pinball machines in Casinopolis. 16-bit Sonic Spinball and Pokemon Pinball are among my favorite spin-offs for their respective franchises though.

^I'm a fan of Sonic Spinball too, though I never could get passed the second stage so it's always bugged me a little. Sonic Pinball Party is easier to play while still being decently challenging, and the Sonic Advance inspired tables are charming, but I never quite liked it as much as the pinball subgame in SA.

Wow, that's hardcore. So the Ring count caps at 9999?

I remember the Ring Display in SADX capping at 999, but being able to collect far more rings than that. Or are you talking about the Vault counter? I remember something about having to deposit 10,000 Rings in order to complete the Sonic Statue.

As for Spinball, I think I made it to the third level like once, but yeah, it's pretty damn hard for a 16-bit game.

Okay, so with the help of the Levitate code and hacking Amy to play in the NiGHTS pinball, I have determined the exact amount of rings the cards and Ideyas give you and how it works.

One Pair = 10 Rings
Two Pairs = 20 Rings
Three of a Kind = 30 Rings
Full House = 50 Rings
Four of a Kind = 70 Rings
Five of a Kind = Nothing. I guess they never intended you to get this, as 5 can't ever spawn at the same time in one room, but in two rooms, yes.

To get an Ideya to appear, you need to collect three Blue Chips Cards, it doesn't matter that you have them in a pair or something, just collecting them at all, and an Ideya will appear in the Nightmare room. Collect the Ideya and drop it off, and repeat the progress. If you do this 4 times and thus have all 5 Ideyas, you will earn exactly 300 rings! Remember, you have to collect the blue chips AFTER you drop off the Ideya!

I will continue to work on the pinball machines to determine just exactly how everything works.
Always happy to see Number and his 12 daughters and 6 sons.

I was playing on the NiGHTS table last night and lost my last ball right before I could get the blue Ideya - it was visible right in front of the machine, too. If you hit Sonic right as he nears the end of the left flipper, it's easy to launch him into the speed booster at the table's spawn point and into the Twin Seeds room. I got the closest I'd ever been to finishing his third Casinopolis mission as well...and then promptly ran out of time because of the extensive cutscene that plays when you fall out of the Twin Seeds room because the mechanics force you up into it if you've opened the path and lose a ball.

Casinopolis is great for racking up rings and lives, but for some reason it hardly ever adds the rings I've amassed when I bust the capsule to my total ring count. I'm not sure if the Gamecube and Steam versions handle it any differently, though, and I haven't completed the level as Tails or Knuckles in a while. The geometry tends to act weird on the NiGHTS table in the 2004 version as well - I often have Sonic clip through the loop near the bumpers and lose a ball as a result.

edit: Just beat Tails' second and third Casinopolis missions and didn't keep the rings I got afterwards either, nor did I retain them in any subsequent playthroughs with him.

Re: Casinopolis Pinball Machines

I took further research, and I've finally discover everything there is to know about both Pinball Machines! This info was gathered from using the levitate code to get Amy into Casinopolis. Some of this info is repeated from my last post, but now it's more defined.

Sonic & Slots Pinball:

Round Bumpers: 1 Ring

Triangle Bumpers: 1 Ring

Right Route: 3 Rings per pass + 10 Rings every 5 passes.

Lights: 1 Ring per pass + 15 Rings when all 3 are lit.
You may pass these as much as you like. When all three are lit, they reset. Use the flippers to switch which are lit.

Pink Panels: 1 Ring per panel + 15 Rings when all 3 are hit.
Panels can only be hit once until resetted. When all three are hit, they reset.

Left Tube - Right Area Clear: 20 Rings + 1 "?" Ring Capsule and 1-UP, sets up a pink barrier on the right bunker.

Right Tube - Left Area Clear: 20 Rings + 2 "?" Ring Capsules and 1-UP, sets up a pink barrier on the left bunker.

Pink Barriers - 8 Rings but removes barrier.

Slots Entry: 5 Rings

When you match three icons in the slots, you get a reward based on what is matched. A timer will appear on the board, and you cannot receive any other slot prizes (other than Slots Entry) until the timer runs out.

3 Sonics: Speed Star - 50 Rings
99 Second Timer for both tubes. If you clear both, you will win an additional 150 Rings! Timers will then respawn. (Doesn't reset the actual timer)

3 Tails: T-Kickback - 15 Rings
45 Second Timer for the Lights and safety barrier on the bottom. If you pass through all 3 lights, you will earn a bonus of 30 rings!

3 Knuckles: Shining "K" - 30 Rings
80 Second Timer first appears on Left Tube Button. Touch it to earn 10 Rings and timer will relocate to Right Route. Pass it to earn 20 Rings and timer will relocate to Right Tube Button. Touch it to earn 40 Rings and timer will relocate to the left of the three lights. Pass that to earn 81+x Rings where x is # of times you passed through the light with the Timer Active. No real way to tell if there is a cap here, especially since you're not going to pass through there that many times within the timer.

3 Amys: Blue Rose - 50 Rings
60 Second Timer for Pink Panels. If you hit all three, you will earn a 30 Ring bonus! Do it again for 60 Rings, and again for 90, and so on! It caps at 150 Rings.

3 Rings: Ring-3K - 15 Rings
30 Second Timer for a trail of 16 Rings in the Right Route. Collect all 16 and earn a 20 Ring Bonus!

3 Robotniks: Final Eggman - -50 Rings
60 Second Timer for slots. If you match three Robotniks again, you will earn 100 rings!

Icons on all 3 reels on slots:
+--------+--------+--------+
|Knuckles|Robotnik| Ring |
| Ring | Ring |Knuckles|
| Sonic |Knuckles| Amy |
| Amy | Ring | Sonic |
| Tails |Robotnik| Ring |
|Knuckles| Tails | Tails |
| Tails |Robotnik|Robotnik|
| Sonic | Amy |Knuckles|
|Robotnik| Ring | Tails |
| Tails |Knuckles| Ring |
|Knuckles| Ring |Knuckles|
| Ring |Robotnik| Tails |
| Tails | Tails | Ring |
| Ring |Robotnik|Robotnik|
| Sonic | Sonic | Sonic |
|Robotnik| Tails | Tails |
+--------+--------+--------+
(meant to be viewed in Consolas or some other similar font)

NiGHTS & Cards Pinball:

Round Bumpers: 1 Ring

Triangle Bumpers: 1 Ring

Left Route: 3 Rings per pass + 10 Rings every 5 passes.

Lights: 1 Ring per pass + 15 Rings when all 3 are lit.
You may pass these as much as you like. When all three are lit, they reset. Use the flippers to switch which are lit. Activates Right Bunker Barrier.

Pink Panels: 1 Ring per panel + 15 Rings when all 3 are hit.
Panels can only be hit once until resetted. When all three are hit, they reset. Activates Left Bunker Barrier.

Pink Barriers: 8 Rings but removes barrier.

Nitemare Pinball Table Entry: 1 Ring, but only after the first visit.

One Pair: 10 Rings

Two Pairs: 20 Rings

Three of a Kind: 30 Rings
30 Second Timer for Left Route. Earn a 10 Ring Bonus for passing through! Do it again for a 15 Ring Bonus, and again for 20, and so on! No real cap here, but not that you can pass through that many times anyway.

Full House: 50 Rings
30 Second Timer for Middle Tube. Entering or Exiting the Tube earns you 10 Rings. Repeating either of these earns you 20 Rings, again earns you 30, then 40, and so on!

Four of a Kind: 70 Rings
45 Second Timer for Pink Panels. If you hit all three, you will earn a 30 Ring bonus! Do it again for 60 Rings, and again for 90, and so on! It caps at 150 Rings.

Straight: 100 Rings!
The only way to get this is to have all the unique "Good" cards, the cards with a green border. That means you must have NiGHTS, Elliot, Claris, Nitopian, and Blue Chips. You can't get this with the red cards since there's only 4 of them.
This spawns a 60 second timer for the three lights. But you don't get any additional rings.

Five of a Kind: Nothing. It's treated as getting junk cards. I guess they never expected this to be possible.

Any hand that earns you rings will open a door to the Nitemare Pinball Table. If a hand spawns a Timer, the door will not open until Timer is up.

NiGHTS will already have 1 Ideya in his shrine. To collect an Ideya, you must collect at least 3 Blue Chips Cards. An Ideya will spawn in the central generator in the Nitemare Pinball Table. Launch towards the generator to collect the Ideya. You can then drop it off when exiting the Nitemare Pinball Table. You must collect 3 Blue Chips Cards AFTER you drop off the Ideya otherwise another won't spawn. When all 5 Ideyas are in the Shrine, you will earn 300 Rings! You can then repeat the whole process.

Cards:
Green (Good)|Red (Bad)
NiGHTS|Reala
Elliot Edward|Puffy
Claris Sincliar|Gillering
Nitopian|Wiseman
Blue Chips|Nothing

Notes:

- Bunker Barriers in the Nitemare Pinball Table are linked to the NiGHTS Pinball Table. If the left barrier in the NiGHTS Table appears, the Right in the Nitemare Table appears also. And Vise Versa. Same if you remove them in either side, they're linked.
- 5 of a Kind CAN indeed appear in the Nitemare Pinball Table, so it is actually humanly possible, but you'll have to set it up somehow.
- The bonus values here add in addition to the regular value unless you already get a bonus from it without a timer.
- When any timer runs out, bonus restarts back to the first value.
- If you somehow receive so many bonuses too fast, you don't actually get the full reward.
- There's an unused Red card, Jackle. There's also unused Nitopian eggs in the Nitemare pinball table, which hatch when you touch them. However, their egg and eggshells are solid objects, blocking the bunkers.

I've also posted a video regarding all this info!

New info: You CAN spawn Bunker Barriers in the Nitemare Pinball Table, they're linked to the NiGHTS Pinball Table. But when the left is activated, the right is on the other. And vise versa.

Also, 5 of the same card CAN appear in the Nitemare Pinball Table as well. Before I thought that only a max of 4 and 3 can appear in both rooms. I'll update my past post with this new info!

:herocry: From what I saw in a youtube video, getting all the Ideyas can take as long as 40 minutes. Ya got that? 40 minutes in a stage! Just nearing the 5 minute mark makes me anxious...
... plus the initial struggle to not lose all the balls before 100 rings. That happened to me once. It wasn't very fun.
Under my rule, everyday is halloween! :darkhappy:

So is no one going to ask why some random casino has an overly-sized pinball machine with Sonic's likeness?

Dr. Eggman built it to profit from his own arch enemy's popularity?

Eggman does attack Sonic and Tails immediately after they leave Casinopolis for the first time, presumably he was watching them from the inside, which would be easy to do if he ran the casino. It would also explain why the stage is full of robots.

Incidentally I eventually did get all the Ideya.
