Update 6
The war for Mannhattan was raging on as the remaining users struggled to hold back the onslaught of ModBots pushing their way through.
The REDs had set up makeshift barriers and sentries as fast as they could, but they could only hold for so long.
As User after User died, it was becoming noticeable that most of their force had dwindled down to almost nothing.
Medics had become scarce, and there were only three active on the battlefield at this point.
Bullets and rockets flew threw the air, screams of pain from RED sometimes ringing through the air. They were all in trouble, and many realized this was more than likely going to be the end for them.
"CHRIST!" Patrick shouted, a dead soldier flopping next to him, "My last Soldier is dead! I need backup!" Many of the units of Users had been wiped. Nearly all the Pyros, Scouts, and Demos were dead except for a select few vets who had enough experience and luck to survive this long.
"Yo yo roger, I see the target." Keaton looked towards Patrick and zeroed in.
Running up the ramp was a ModBot prepared to suicide himself in order to kill Patrick and Snowy who were hiding in cover.
"No you don't!" Keaton yelled, firing his gun at the ModBot, hoping luck would land his shot.
The shot smashed through the ModBot's helmet and exploded his circuits, causing him to fly to the floor in a metal heap.
"Thanks!" Patrick cheered, preparing himself to continue firing upon the enemy.
"Don't mention it!" Keaton smiled and continued on his way, dodging and weaving through rocket after rocket flying towards him.
Crash watched as the last Sniper was killed and sighed. "Agh, am I really the last one left here? Where the hell is our backup?!"
"Sorry string bean, but I think WE'RE the backup." Rovias desperately continued to fix his sentry, though his dispenser had exploded some time ago, and thus it was only a matter of time before he'd run out of metal.
Aidan continued healing Brianna, unsure of what to do next. "Bri, I'm sorry that we're probably going to die here."
Brianna shook her head and sighed. "It's fine. I think dying in battle is pretty cool. Then we're remembered as awesome war heroes and we'll probably get a statue or something."
Aidan chuckled and shook his head. "Well in that case, let's head out and kick some ass."
Brianna stood up and revved up her minigun, beginning to walk out towards the incoming ModBots.
"DIE!" Bri yelled, shooting in a wide arc at the ModBots.
The ModBots, not wanting to die, began to focus heavily on the left side, running towards it at full speed.
Rockets bombarded the barricade, hitting and destroying the sentry gun.
"OH NO!" one User screamed, noticing a crocket flying right towards them.
The explosion shook the ground, blocking back the Users guarding it and the boxes holding the Mods back.
"Boss, I got bad news for you," Linds said, approaching from behind.
"Our entire right side has been wiped out. It's only a matter of time before they charge in and begin to flank us."
"Without any backup, we stand little to no chance here. Lana... We gotta retreat. We've lost Mannhattan." Linds spoke softly, knowing that without Mannhattan, defeat was sure to fall upon the REDs.
"Dammit... No, I can't lose here. Not the first battle..." A single tear fell down her face. "I gotta avenge Sable Linds, you don't understand..."
Suddenly, a large amount of gunfire rang through the air and the advancing Mods fell where they stood.
It was the Menn in Blu! They had wiped the floor and ended the threat of the advancing mods.
Along with them were the Retro Menn, wearing 70s chapeaus and looking stylish.
"What the hell..." Patrick and Snowy whispered, staring in awe at them.
The Retros opened fire and blew many of the Mods to bits, easily pushing the Mods back. Thus, the Mods began a full on retreat, running back towards the "Index" as it was beginning to be called by some users.
"T-They're retreating?" Lana asked, stunned by the sudden turn of the tides. It appeared that, for now Mannhattan was safe.
However, a single ModBot came out of the shadows, aiming a shotgun at Lana.
"Lana watch out!" Linds cried, sprinting to get in front of her.
Suddenly, another figure stepped from the shadows, staring the Mod directly in the face.
"
Beep."
"..."
"
Boop."
"..."
"
Bop."
"..."
The Mod's head whirled for a few seconds before violently exploding by Tree's menacing glare, sending the robot toppling over on its side.
"Lana, long time no see." Triert said, calmly turning towards Lana.
"Tree dirt." Lana spat, making her disgust for him apparent.
Blasphemy approached from behind. "We're finished with clean up duty. Any Mods that aren't dead are wishing they were." She smiled and looked towards Lana and Linds. "You're welcome."
"We didn't need your help. We had it under control." Linds glared at Blasphemy.
"Sure you did, which is why all of your men are dead," Tree replied, his empty eyes staring directly into Linds. She shivered.
"Why didn't you just say you needed help anyhow? I would've been glad to lend a hand. Maybe more of your people would've survived then." Triert cracked his neck and turned his gaze towards Lana.
This time, she literally spat on the floor. "Because, we don't associate with the scum of the earth. We're proud REDs who'd rather die than be forced to work with some stuck up asshat like you."
Blasphemy glared at Lana. "Maybe we shouldn't have saved your sorry asses, then we wouldn't have to worry about who'd control Chao Island anymore because it would be us. However, we know this isn't just about you. This is about all of us. We know they're after all Users."
Triert nodded in agreement. "Thus, I have a suggestion to make, for the benefit of all of us."
Silence followed these words, creating a bit of tension in the air before he finally continued. "I propose a temporary truce between both BLU and RED armies until we destroy this Mod threat."
