I just bred a shiny two tone purple chao! It's great. I wasn't too lucky with it though :( The parents were a shiny two tone normal and a shiny purple, and I got a shiny grey, two shiny whites, two shiny two tone greys, and two shiny two tone normals before I actually got what I wanted.

I'd say it's pretty useful in the minigames, but not aside from that.
