Sonic Generations console/handheld opinions

Post by Kausa »

So I rented and beat Sonic Generations on the xbox in a day, and I was wondering if it was worth buying for my 3DS.
I heard it had different stages, so if there was anyone here whose played the console version and the 3DS version, I'd love your input here.

I'd also like to know, as I am considering buying a 3DS, one of the main reasons being this game.

It's a relatively short game, only about three hours long, but it is very fun. I would recommend buying it, as long as you like replaying levels like I do. There's also a list of missions you can unlock by StreetPass and Play Coins, 5 to unlock a mission and 5 to unlock the bonus for the mission (assuming you don't feel like completing the mission.)

Overall, yes, I would buy it.

I've never played the 3DS version, but I've seen videos of it and it looks awkward to control (of course this may be because it's hard to use the 3DS while pointing a camera at it). The Modern Sonic stages seem rather redundant because there are no actual 3D sections, so the game plays more like Sonic Rush instead of Sonic Unleashed/Colors. Also, Classic Sonic learns the Homing attack rendering Modern Sonic even more redundant.
I suppose it's time to say  Ciao.

:/ Hmm. So its short, awkward, and kind of redundant?
Considering that its $40, maybe I'll wait till I can find a super deal on it.

I have both, and the cut scenes are stupid and weird. I don't know if its worth the money. I guess it just depends if you have a lot to spend.
I was super young when I used this forum and probably said weird or odd stuff. Dont hold me to it!

Is it possible to play as Super Sonic in the normal stages?
I haven't been able to find any info on it, so I'm assuming not.

Coming from a guy who knows the physics in and out:
No, the game does not feel awkward.

One major, and really bizarre, issue I have with the game is that once you beat the final boss, Classic Sonic gains a homing attack that you can't turn off. Why would they do that?

The level design is pretty weak compared to the console version. But you should watch some clips of the game--maybe you want something basic?

Thanks for the advice guys, I really appreciate it. X3
I did watch some videos of the 3DS version and based on what you all say and what I read, I don't think I'll get this game. Sure, if I can find it for 10 bucks somewhere, then yeah but I don't see that happening.
