In case you don't want to read what's right after:
- Final Fantasy V
- Final Fantasy VIII
- Final Fantasy X
*POSSIBLE SPOILERS for a lot of games* (Just in case)
My favourites right now are FFVIII and FFX. Not X-2 because of the way Yuna and Rikku's personalities did a near 180º spin. Rikku was such a deep character in X if you take a very good look at her and then she's shouting "Monkeys!!!" in X-2. It's so depressing >.< Yuna sure "spread her wings", as Lulu put it. One of the things that frustrated me the most is that if you REALLY want to have fun with the game, you'll probably need to follow a walkthrough step-by-step for 100%...Not for the ending, no; that was pretty short...for the cool minigames! Of course, we know following walkthroughs drains a good part of the fun and surprise in the game. :/
Moving back to the topic of favourite games, I can't decide between those two because, while I find FFVIII's story a bit more enjoyable and the romance more, how to say...refined perhaps, (Tidus...I don't know, once I played FFVIII, my appreciation for his persona went DOWN), I don't find the gameplay itself to be as balanced as the one in FFX, really. :P
*Drawing...Please wait two hours to fill up all 100 charges*
I still need to play FFVII and FFIX (It's on my soon-to-do list), along with completing IV and VI someday...My expectations for FFVII aren't that high, considering some of the things I've heard. A good classic I guess, but I feel it's a bit overrated. I'll have to check it out for myself, though.
I tried playing II once, but I didn't really like it. Never touched III, unfortunately. Maybe I should grab the remake of it, sometime.
Oh, come to think of it, I also like FFV a fair lot as well, it's my favourite 2D FF game. However, in the same manner, I believe VI's gameplay is a bit more balanced. In V you can just switch everyone to Black Mages all of a sudden and go BOOM on the opponent...I love my 2H sword wielding Black Mage Bartz, though. :O
Hmmm, I think I'm trailing off a BIT too much, so I'll stop this here.
*END SPOILERS*
Just as a last note: For anyone that hasn't played FFXII yet...RENT IT FIRST. I'm serious! Not even a year has passed since I played that game and my memory's already foggy about many aspects of the story. It's just not memorable enough. There's character development, but the character INTERACTION is low.
Ahem. I'll stop ranting now.
