Good methods for ring farming?
Good methods for ring farming?
I need good ring farming methods, I don't have many medals, and my best ring farming tactic currently is playing Route 101 repeatedly. The rarest items in my shop are the cardboard box and apple, and I don't have enough for either to perform the ring glitch. Any suggestions?

Playing whatever stage you're best at repeatedly and collecting as many rings as possible. For me, I run City Escape and get around 300 rings each run.

Sonic vs Shadow boss fight. Getting over 500 rings is a cinch.

Try getting a cheaper item to do the glitch with at first, then when you have enough switch to using something more expensive.

Then Shadow hits you. Or it takes too long to beat him. One of those two will happen.Ivogoji wrote:Sonic vs Shadow boss fight. Getting over 500 rings is a cinch.

Learn how to beat Mission 1 of City Escape with 290 to 400 rings every time.
Playing Mission 3 (Lost Chao) of City Escape and hitting the Back Goal Ring until you get 999 rings and then getting the Chao is also arguably faster and slower.
Either way, there's more rings in City Escape than Route 101.

Re: Good methods for ring farming?
^I've literally never been hit by Shadow in that boss fight. Not even once.
In fact its possible to beat Shadow in decent time simply by light dashing through every trail of rings on the track, without bothering to attack or dodge. Shadow will periodically chaos control directly on top of a trail of rings in the middle of the track, and when Sonic light dashes through them it damages Shadow. Not only that, but as long as Sonic is light dashing constantly Shadow can't actually land an attack. It's riskier in fact to try hitting him with a homing attack or spin dash, which are too slow compared to the light dash.
But yeah, I played the boss fight yesterday and got over 700 rings easy.

And then I played it. (with Shadow because you can't skip straight to the fight with Hero.)
I will say this, I got 500 rings in 2 minutes and 37 seconds.
But beating Sonic (Boss) takes too long. While light dashing, one of 5 things happened:
1: Sonic appeared on the other end of the ring trail, and by the time I got there Sonic was out of range.
2: Sonic appeared inbetween the rings, and took some before I got there, so my light dash
didn't work, and Sonic clearly didn't get hit.
3: Sonic's teleport glow appeared inbetween the rings, and I light dashed past him.
4: Sonic teleported in front of the rings again, and I lost all my rings.
5: Sonic appeared inbetween the rings, and I hit him.
Situations #1 through 3, happened really often, prolonging the fight past 999 rings.
And #4 just made me start over. None of this is counting random screw ups either.
And when you finally finish it, after whatever time it took, you have to
watch the unskippable credits, which makes it take longer than City Escape anyways.

I know what you mean. The only times I died in that fight were when the camera went all wonky and sent me in the opposite direction. Thrice.Ivogoji wrote:^I've literally never been hit by Shadow in that boss fight. Not even once.

What does the black market ring glitch entail? Please explain the process to me; this is the first time I've heard of it.

well since your interested here is what it is... The ring glitch:
Step 1: sell an Item in your chao garden
Step 2: go into settings and change vibration to on then off (the game should be saying saving... where it's saving the game file instead of the chao file your item is still there that is if you didnt exit and save the garden)
Step 3: push the Xbox guide/ps3 Menu button to exit out pc: push and hold the power button SteamOS (if in big picture) push shift+tab and hit Close Application gamecube: push the reset button
Step 4: go back into the chao garden
Step 5: Repeat until you feel you have enough rings. hope this helped!
