How to obtain a normal two toned bright chao?

Post by TheMaskedKatz »

My first bright chao was a bright blue chao, and was breed from a shiny blue chao and a normal two toned chao. How do you obtain a normal two toned bright chao?

Long, kinda complicated version:
Spoiler:
To do that, you're going to need two Chao with Normal genes, and at least one of them has to be shiny (At least genetically).

Just remember that when you breed two pure Chao of different breeds, their genes basically fuse.

So if you mate a Red Mono-Tone Chao with a Blue Two-Tone the outcomes are:

- Red Mono-Tone

- Blue Mono-Tone

- Red Two-Tone

- Blue Two-Tone

(The actual colors can't fuse under normal conditions unfortunately.)

And even though you can't see the it, all of those Chao are actually the same genetically.
The only difference is dominance, basically what your Chao can look like given the situation. There's a 1/4 chance of getting any of those in the example, despite being the same.
Shiny Chao also follow those rules, so if you breed a Shiny Red Mono-Tone Chao with a Regular Blue Two-Tone, all of the previous outcomes are still there, and the additions are:

- Shiny Red Mono-Tone

- Shiny Blue Mono-Tone

- Shiny Red Two-Tone

- Shiny Blue Two-Tone

So, (in general) you can use any Chao bred from a Shiny Chao or a Normal Chao for this.
As long as you have those genes floating around, with both mating Chao having Normal genes, and one of them having a shiny gene, you can make a Bright Normal/Shiny Two-Tone Chao.

But personally, I feel like the "Dominance" section of the Genetics page and the "The Child" section of the Mating page could do better at explaining than me.
Short version: Just breed your current Bright Chao with Normal Chao and hope for a Normal Bright Chao. The outcome is just isn't guaranteed though, so keep trying, since you can get several different outcomes from those chao breeding.

Just to clarify some points made by chaoadventures.

Not all children are genetically identical, for impure breeds. What you said was true for a pure monotone red and pure monotone blue cross, or for other pure crosses. But when you have two genetically impure chao mating, you can get chao that are not the same genetically. This is especially important for obtaining normal colored chao, since their color genes must be Normal/Normal, with any Normal/X getting you color X, instead.

The simplest cross was correct, with pure parents: Normal + Shiny X (not white, for ease of telling colors)
and then Child + Pure Normal.
If I did math correctly, and am not rusty on chao mechanics, it will be a 3/32 chance of being shiny normal two-tone, and 1/32 chance of being shiny normal monotone.
