No. For chao to age, they someone has to be in the garden, i think. Yea you have to be in the garden.

The chao can only age and change when you are in the Garden the chao is in. So the longer your in the garden the more your chao will age and change

Hmm

In the original SA1 (I do not know about SADX), chao in all gardens would age no matter what garden you were in... and I learned that the hard way when two of my chao in another garden died while I was dealing with the ones in station square, but only one reincarnated.

Of course, this does not happen in SA2 or SA2B.
