The History
Spoiler:
Human Settlers, from their old planet of Earth traveled the stars, planet from planet to find one suitable to call their new home. Finally, one that was well suited for the weary travelers was found. Here, the humans descended onto what they imagined was an uninhabited planet. They called it Arcadia, and the settlement they made for themselves was named Teuthis.

But first contact came quickly, as native Avens, known by the humans as "Elves" had retaliated to their arrival. War broke out, and humans proved they earned their place from the unwarranted incursions. Even after The Hell of Teuthis, where the near annihilation of their city brought them to the brink of extinction, they proved themselves to the rest of Arcadia that wouldn't be enough to get rid of them.

After the siege, a campaign against the Aven Capital of Theria led to not only their defeat, but the sinking of most of the island itself at the end of the campaign. Humans settled The Chromatic City on the eastern landmass that remained, and claimed The Riven Isles, the western remains of the Therian landmass.

They invaded The Icy Reach, and The Burning Enclave from the shadows, and turned the best of friends among the Avens into the most bitter rivals that fight one another even now. What would have been their last battle against Aristotle, the Avens chose to broker for a peace rather than fight anymore of the costly war they enveloped themselves in.

From there, life went on. The sun rose for humans again, but set for the avens.
Teuthis, The Human Capital of Arcadia, and within it is a bustling metropolis that has no time for people who cannot keep up with it's pace of development. An Elven Thaumaturgist, Farray Way, has convened with the local Thaumers to apprehend a Human Hybrid. No word has spread of their presence, and they hope to make the extraction quickly before Teuthian officials are aware of them. They met at a Teuthian Diner, ensuring that they would remain hidden among the early bird crowd.

"So, what do the rest of you have?" Farrah Way had asked the rest of the Thaumers.

"A hybrid has been reported in possession of a stolen Baal Corp motorcycle, he is suspected to have stolen from official Baal Corp stores in Teuthis." One said as he came forward with a newspaper regarding the recent robberies. Farrah took a look and could faintly see the sign of horns on the hybrids head, hidden under his white hair.

"So, look around for a young white haired human. How hard could it be?" Farrah told the rest of them as they noticed the fact that many youth around the area turned to dyeing their hair.

"Why are humans obsessed with individuality?" Farrah said as the Thaumers had begun questioning many of the white haired youth.

"Have you, within the date of this news article, stolen potatoes?" A Thaumer asked one of the white haired human youth, a stare of unimaginable confusion stuck on the persons face as they walked away.

"Everyone please, we're probably attracting enough attention with our outfits alone and-" Farrah said cautioning the other Thaumers, her warning was cut off by a woman with armed bodyguards next to her approaching the crowd. One of the guards fired a shot that sent the crowd of youth running as the Thaumers had their hands glowing in front of the woman.

"My name is Irene Baal, Farrah Way is it?" Irene told Farrah, circling around with her stare stuck on her.

"How could you have known my name?" Farrah, blue with shock said as she took her steps back away from Irene.

"You've been watched ever since you stepped foot into my city. Stepping in to apprehend the Hybrid in those logs that other Thaumaturgists were writing. It's my business to know everything that happens in my city, but look on the bright side here. With all of you apprehended, we can avoid a huge political **** storm now can't we?" Irene said as her guards shot runes to seal the magic of the Thaumers. They were brought to the ground as the runes began to lock the flow of magic in their bodies.

"Where did you get those runes?" Farrah said as she fired her Arcane Missile's to knock Irenes guards out of the way. Irene had maneuvered behind Farrah, pistol in hand at her face.

"You'd be surprised with what some elves are willing to part with for money." Irene said as the pistol she had was knocked out of her grip by a staff, which was spinning back towards a the nearby Teuthian Diner.

"I seem to be popular, here in Teuthis, and everywhere else. Maybe it's time I turn myself in." Uttered the Hybrid that had revealed himself. "My name is Triert, it's the Ramcoon word for Caretaker." He told the two as Farrah rolled back as she had her hand's ready for both Triert, and Irene. "Don't the elves want me alive?" Triert asked as Irene picked up two blades, one off of both guards respectively.

"I do too, but then you'll be gutted." Irene said making a lunge for Triert at the roof. He thrusted his staff forward to hit her neck, then gave a rising strike against her chin as Farrah fired bolts of lightning to paralyze him.

"Great to know you don't want me dead anymore." Triert said as he'd been hit by one. "But you should know better than anyone else, I'm a Capricyon Hybrid." Triert said as he jumped off the back of the diner and onto his stolen Baal Corp Motorcycle.

"All Ragnarok agents, ignore the Thaumers and get that god damn hybrid!" Irene shouted over her radio to the agents hidden within the city. Triert took off down the road, with Farrah in hot pursuit right next to him.

"You know magic won't work on me already don't you?" Triert, wondering why the elven woman continued to pursuit him as she followed behind by propelling herself with her magic.

"I need you alive, and they don't care. I'm keeping you safe, and then you get to settle down in Aristotle and live a happy, normal life at an Ethologists Sanctuary." Farrah told him as she noticed a smile on him.

"Depends, do you come with it?" Triert, giving off a sly smirk to her. Farrah was very visibly, and by all accounts, unimpressed. "Oh ****, split!" Triert said as he took off down a different road.

"Split? Why- WHAT IN THE AVEN WORLD IS THAT?" Farrah said as a shell had blown up from behind her. Irene had mobilized her tanks to catch up to the two of them, as she ordered another shell fired.

"You'd be surprised how fast this chunk of metal goes." Irene told Farrah as another shell was fired into the busy road of people. "This is Official Baal Corporation business, anyone caught interfering will get a nice vacation to The Rotting Reef itself!" Irene announced as Farrah fired an Arcane Blast back at her tank. "Hah, you think I wouldn't prepare this baby for a bit of magic? It has a nice plating of Adamantium just for your stupid Arcane spells." Irene told Farrah, Triert had returned to the road and reached the side of Irenes tank.

"Nice tank, but can it protect against the rush hour?" Triert said as he gave Farrah a hand signal for the two of them to turn at their next left.

"I'll just drive over the damn cars if I have to!" Irene said turning her tank at the corner and found her movement slowed because of just trying to accomplish that. "I can afford a tank that bounces magic off...BUT I CAN'T AFFORD TO CUT DOWN TRAFFIC IN THIS ****** CITY!" Irene yelled as car alarms blared out all around her.

Triert had Farrah give chase to him, Farrah picked up that he wasn't trying to get away from her, so much as simply lead her somewhere. They made one last turn at a corner as Triert started walking his motorcycle. "Can you tell me what we're doing here?" Farrah asked as she began hearing growls coming from the alley Triert was walking into.

"Easy everyone, she's not going to hurt us." Triert said as Farrah had taken a few steps back away.

"Mind telling me what's here?" Farrah asked him as a ramcoon cub approached her.

"Well you see, I found a gang of alley ramcoons and decided to feed them because they kept getting captured. They consider this alley to be their home, but plan to move soon because they can't grow potatoes here. I'm simply bringing them some food so that they can make their way to The Chromatic Haven safely and with full stomachs." Triert said as he unpacked his potatoes to them. The colony came out and began to peel and eat them in front of the two of them.

"I'm sure I can arrange for them to be picked up and out of here, but we need to get to Aristotle if that didn't cross your mind yet." Farrah told Triert.

"Ok then miss thaumy, cuff me and let's walk into an entire city looking specifically for a blue haired elf and white haired hybrid." Triert said as his Ramcoon ears poked through his hair.

"Right...I forgot this city wants the both of our heads." Farrah told him as a Ramcoon cub scurried over to her to offer her a potato.

"Take it, it likes you." Triert told Farrah as she accepted the cubs offering. It hopped around with joy after Farrah took the potato from it.

"Make sure you get them out of here, and I'll get the both of us out of Teuthis. Then, I'll decide if I want to get opened up by a couple of elves." Triert said as he had been digging through a box.

"I'm sorry, but you're pretty damn important to most of the scientific community at hand. From what I can pick off here, you can understand Ramcoons, and you can even speak their 'language' too. I promise they wont open you up if you just give them a moment of your time." Farrah told Triert, pleading that he go with her.

"Well, that's nicer than the 'Ethologist Sanctuary' home you planned on putting me in." Triert said as he pulled out a worn out piece of paper.

"You were trying to come onto me while we had a tank shelling us, I was just using up the snark I earned from it all." Farrah told him as he boarded his motorcycle. "Are we heading out already?" Farrah asked as he motioned for her to get on the back seat.

"This colony isn't exactly unknown, it's the first place they'll check after the mess we left behind. I have the address to an underground fighting ring here, we'll find a way out of the island, and try to find a way to Aristotle from there." Triert said as they took off, the night hiding their presence as armored Ragnarok vans patrolled down the streets. Their way was quiet, as Triert gave the secret knock.

"Open up the ****** door, I want to get drunk damn it!" Triert yelled as a sliding slot at the top of the door opened for the bouncer to see the two of them.

"One regular, one elf, what gives?" The bouncer asked.

"We like to watch fights and get drunk, is that a good enough reason?" Triert asked as the door opened to the both of them.

"You're in luck, we got a champion in the house tonight." The bouncer said as he returned to his knitting.

"Maybe we can get this champion to get us out of Teuthis." Farrah asked Triert. "Not if it's who I think it is." Triert said as the two of them payed for their tickets and gathered around the cage with others.

As the Hybrid and the Thaumaturgist took their seats, the announcer's voice came on over the loud speaker, "Ladies, gentlemen, and anyone in between, are you ready for a bloody fight?!"

The crowd cheered, some throwing their hands up in the air to show their excitement.

"I CAN'T HEEEEAR YOOOOU!"

The crowd cheered louder, almost screaming. Their screams were so loud that they made the Hybrid's and Thaumaturgist's chests thump.

"Yeah, that's what the combatants like to hear!" The announcer said, "Introducing our newest fighter of the night...I hope you don't have a 'beef' with meat, because he's made of 300 pounds of it! Give it up for SIIIIIRRRRR LOIN!"

A huge muscular Minotaur with large bull horns stepped, his hooves making clopping sounds as he stepped into the enclosed arena. People cheered while others booed the newcomer. Sir Loin roared while pounding his fists together.

"And for our next combatant...She's a long time fighter, a speedy tigress who thirsts for the kill! EVERYONE, GIVE IT UP FOR CHAMPION MEI XI XUUUUN!"

The audience roared to the point they strained their throats as a demon confidently strolled into the arena with a grin on her face. Her short, black hair was cut into a neat bob, her bangs completely covering her eyes, making her unreadable. She tall and lean, standing at 5' 8" with an athletic build and a large rack. Freckles dotted the right side of her face, starting from the tip of her nose, then making a path under her right eye and surrounding the side of it. Her sharp red horns grew out of the sides of her head, their longer length showing that she was a fully grown adult. She wore a black tank top with black exercise capris that had green vertical stripes running down the sides. She wore green sneakers on her feet and bandages on her hands. When she reached her spot in the arena, she quickly got into the Tiger Style stance, baring her sharp claws.

"I haven't had lunch today, and seeing you is making me want some steak right about now. I'm sure one of my friends wouldn't mind having a roast beef sandwich right about now either." Mei Xi told Sir Loin, "That said, I hope you realize that there's a good chance you won't come out of this fight alive."

"Oh no Ms. Xun, it is YOU that will not be walking away from this match. I will snap you in half like a twig!"

"Try me, Porkchop!"

With that, the bell rang to start the match. Sir Loin punched the ground, causing a shockwave. Mei Xi easily dodged the attack and countered by lunging forward and planting her fist in the Minotaur's face.

The Minotaur flew back from the force of Mei Xi's punch, then shook himself, "Hm, you're tougher than you look." The Minotaur bent forward and rushed at Mei Xi with his large horns.

Mei Xi countered again with an open-palmed strike to the area between the Minotaur's horns. The Minotaur seemed a bit dizzy from the direct blow to his head. While Sir Loin was trying to regain his composure, Mei Xi hurriedly took the initiative and picked up Sir Loin by his right ankle, then proceeded to slam him around on the ground multiple times. Once Sir Loin stood up again, Mei Xi used an uppercut, sending him airborne once again. This time, Mei Xi jumped up and used a dropkick on his head, using enough force to make him bleed. The two of them landed on the ground, with Sir Loin not waking up. A referee ran out and checked Sir Loin. After confirming that he was no longer in fighting condition, the referee made a gesture with his hand, signaling that Mei Xi was the victor.

"Champion Mei Xi is the victor with another bloody knockout! She still rules this ring with a bloody paw!" The announcer shouted excitedly.

The crowd cheered while others rose signs that had phrases such as, "Go Tiger!" and "Hunt them down!" written on them. Mei Xi waved her hands in the air with a big smile plastered on her face as she left the arena.

"Hey, Champ, doesn't it get boring here. Obviously you're title isn't going to be challenged anytime soon." Triert said approaching Mei Xi as she left the arena.

"What he means, is that if you take a good look outside you'll see tanks. Tanks looking for us specifically, the hybrid here brought me here hoping that we could find an escort off of Teuthis." Farrah had added.

"I'm going from top to bottom, and seeing your match makes me think I'm asking for a jet fighter to help us. So what do you say, take some time out of the ring and help us get off the island?" Triert had asked the brawler.

Mei Xi had put her payment for her victory in her pocket while listening to the Hybrid and the Thaumaturgist, "The least you two could do is introduce yourselves to me before asking for help. Has no one taught you manners?" Once her hands were free, she crossed her arms, "And if you're really the Hybrid and Thaumaturgist Irene is looking for, then I don't think you're that afraid of her, considering you are asking for help around a large amount of people who wouldn't mind turning you in right about now."

"My name is Triert, I don't have a last name, Ramcoon's don't believe in them." Triert told Mei Xi.

"Farrah Way, I hope you can excuse the abruptness of ours but we're trying to make every second count.." Farrah explained to Mei Xi.

"You look like you live for the fight, and not for the money. I want to trust you, and you're concerned enough to even point it all out. That, I think is either a half of a chance that you'll turn us in because of how deceptive something like that would be, or I'm too skeptical and maybe you are a good person at heart." Triert blurted out in the hopes of having Mei Xi help them.

Mei Xi slowly tapped her fingers against her arms, considering Triert and Farrah's proposal. After what was a minute but might have seemed like forever to the fugitives, she released her arms and rested a hand on her hip.

"Alright, I'll help you. However, I want to see if I can get my friends to help. One of them is even stronger than I am and her hits pack much more than a punch. She and I know the city the best, and would have the best chance of being able to maneuver a path that wouldn't attract too much attention. While I wouldn't mind taking you myself, said strong friend has lived in this city much longer than I have. My other friend is a powerful telekinetic and magician, she would be really good backup and her magic can probably help us out if things get really bad." She explained, "Is that okay with you two?"

"Three for the price of one? I thought deals like that only exist in stores." Triert had said laughing all the while.

"What he means, is that we're more than happy to accept. I just hope this kind of team is enough against the tank patrol out there." Farrah told Mei Xi.

Meanwhile, Irene had been at The Baal Towers suite. Farrah made a good job at ensuring any and all information she had was destroyed when she left, but had overlooked one fine detail. "Tell me, are you done searching in here?" Irene had asked her Ragnarok agents.

"Yes Miss Baal, but we're afraid the elf left nothing to salvage." The agent told her as she dismissed him.

"Let's hope this scope finds something then." Irene said to herself as she looked around the room, she uncovered a datapad hidden by magic behind the night table. "Crafty elf, hiding it and disguising it all at once." Irene said as she called for an agent to take the datapad away. "It's elven technology, get a specialist to crack every last detail on this thing as soon as possible. Do I make myself clear?" Irene told the agent as she gave a smirk upon leaving the suite.

"I will find you hybrid, and your elven friend too." She told herself looking out the window.

Mei Xi decided to ignore Triert's lame joke and nodded to Farrah, "In all honesty, I think those driving the tanks should be the ones that are afraid. That is, if we have to fight them. Let's hope we don't have to."

She gestured for them to follow her as she led them to her friends. She guided the two of them through the quiet and dimly lit park that was surrounded by a few businesses and an enormous amount of apartment complexes. From there, she continued through the now darkened sidewalks and through the area that was heavily populated with crime. Due to the tanks patrolling the streets, there was almost no one on the sidewalks and thankfully the few that were out had no interest in giving the group trouble.

Soon, they arrived at a tall, brown building that looked a bit rundown and dirty. Mei Xi took out her keys and let Triert and Farrah into the silent building. She went up to the elevators and hastily pressed the up button. She crossed her arms and tapped her fingers against her skin impatiently while waiting. Once they entered the elevators, she was just as eager as before, tapping her foot as the elevator quietly lifted them to the desired floor. After they had stepped out into a well-lit hallway, Mei Xi pointed towards their location, then quickly walked up to the door. Even though she had the keys to the apartment, she wasn't sure how happy one of her friends would be about her "guests", so she opted for the doorbell instead.

"Who is it?" A female's voice asked from within the apartment.

"It's Mei Xi!"

"Eh?! But you have a key! Why not just use that?"

"There's a good reason why!"

After a few moments of silence, they heard the clicking of locks then saw the door open to meet a dark skinned woman who appeared to just a little shorter than Mei Xi. She had short, black hair that was a mass of medium sized, bouncy curls. A few of the curls laid in front of her forehead, directing onlookers to her silver colored eyes. They were almond shaped and just a bit slanted, surrounded by long, dark eyelashes. Dark circles surrounded them, making it appear as if she had eye shadow on her eyelids and giving her the appearance of someone who is perpetually tired. Her eyebrows were black and a little thick. She wore a black, casual, formfitting dress that sat a little above her knees. The dress had one long sleeve, while the other side was sleeveless and exposed her shoulder, making the top expose a little cleavage. On the side with the sleeve, there was a half of a skeleton serving as a design that ran from the top to the bottom of the dress, a bony arm running down her sleeve. The dress showed that the woman had a pear-shaped figure, but with long legs and a small chest. She was pulling the bottom of her dress down to straighten it out. On her middle fingers rested long claw shaped rings that covered her entire finger and looked like the tip could poke an eye out. Around her neck she wore a black leather collar necklace that was adorned with long studs, some of them curving down like talons. On her wrists she had two black leather bracelets, both with studs. The bracelet on her left wrist had one row of studs while bracelet on her right wrists had twos rows. She had black, calf high leather boots on her feet, those also adorned with medium length metal spikes. With the slight height that they gave, one could guess that she was about 5' 7".

The woman opened her mouth to speak, then closed it again and frowned when she saw Triert and Farrah behind Mei Xi. She stared directly at the location of Mei Xi's eyes, despite not being able to see them.

"Why did you bring them here?" She asked.

"They requested my help in escorting them out of Teuthis so they can get away from Irene."

"Are you TRYING to get us killed?"

"Obviously not."

The woman scowled, "It's not so obvious anymore when you bring wanted people to our door. It doesn't help that they have a humongous cash bounty over their heads. The paper showing the amount of money Irene was offering for those two was so long that it covered the floor!"

"You mean like when a cat unwinds the toilet paper way too much?"

"Exactly like that!"

"Well that's a bit much for a hybrid and an elf. Then again, her wallet is so big that the planet can fit into it and leave room to spare."

"Oh, before I forget! Phemy, this is Triert and Farrah." She motion towards the two of them, "Triert, Farrah, this is Blasphemy, but you can call her Phemy or Phem for short."

"Hello." Phemy greeted, the tone of her voice expressing her displeasure with the current situation.

"Sorry to wrap you into this, but we need all the help we can get!" Triert said rubbing the back of his head.

"If worst comes to worse, I'll have your group attain asylum in Aristotle if we find the need to." Farrah told Phemy, in an attempt to reassure her.

"No offense, but I think the last thing she wants to hear right now is having to relocate because she decided to help a couple of fugitives." Triert told Farrah as she gave him a scoff.

"Sorry if I have to bring the reality of all this to light." Farrah had told Triert.

"You must be fun at parties." Triert responded as Farrah was face turn a deep blue.

"I don't expect you to understand Triert, people like me have to understand and consider all possible scenarios." Farrah spoke with fire in her eyes at Triert.

"This is the first time you didn't call me 'Hybrid' so its great to know that we're getting a bit closer." Triert told Farrah as he looked away from her and focused his attention on the inside of the apartment.

Phemy sighed lightly while pinching the bridge of her nose and closing her eyes, unsure how to respond to their request.

From behind Phemy, Triert could see another darker skinned woman approach the door from withing the apartment. She seemed to only be a few shades lighter than Phemy and a couple of inches shorter. Similar to Mei Xi, she also had a large chest, complimented by her hourglass figure. Her hair was blonde and short, reaching past her chin but not touching her shoulders. While most of her hair was straight, the ends were a bit messy because they curled, making little spirals. Her eyes were a little slanted like Phemy's, but larger and a light green color. A green, teardrop shaped bindi rested between her thick eyebrows. She sported a long, red sari that had intricate gold patterns on it. She had a gold necklace around her neck, gold bracelets adorned with rubies on her wrists, and gold rings on her fingers. Lastly, she wore brown, flat strap sandals on her feet.

"Phemy, who is at the door?" the woman asked before setting her eyes on Mei Xi, "Hello Mei Xi!" She greeted with a smile, happy to see her friend home safely. Her expression seemed to light up further when she saw Triert and Farrah, "Oh, are these new friends of yours, Mei Xi?" She asked.

"Erm...No. They are people that came to me for help."

"I see..." She muttered, appearing to be in thought for a moment before returning her gaze to the strangers. She extended a hand to the two of them with a warm and friendly smile on her face, "Hello, I am Sumati! And what might your names be?"

"Triert, a Guile Infiltrator." Triert said shaking Sumati's hand.

"Farrah, an Aven Magus." Farrah spoke as she shook her hand as well.

"Your smile is warmer than a potato straight out of a boiler." Triert said as he was shaking Sumati's hand.

"What he means is-"

"I'm pretty sure she can understand the correlation!" Triert cutting Farrah off as he resumed shaking Sumati's hand.

Guile...Infiltrator...? What is that? Sumati pondered.

"Yes, I understand what Triert is trying to say Farrah, there is no need to explain." She told Farrah while laughing, amused by the exchange.

"Now back to the situation at hand..." Phemy started.

"Aren't they the people that were on the news earlier?" Sumati asked Phemy.

"Yes, the very same."

"I think we should help them!"

"Sumati...!"

"I know you're not too keen on the idea, Phemy, but these two don't deserve to be hunted down like this."

"I like my mostly peaceful life and would like to stay with it. Also, didn't Irene mention that he was the one stealing potatoes from all over the city lately?" She gestured towards Triert, "I don't see how that doesn't warrant an arrest."

"There was a starving colony of Ramcoon's, now if I stole them for myself, to peel and grate over a fryer for myself and no one else. Then sure, arrest me, but I had others to think about stealing all that food. Am I really the villain here?" Triert had asked.

"Gee, I guess you do understand to some degree what it means to take care of others." Farrah mentioned as Triert gave her a small shove on her shoulder.

"Considering the circumstances...I suppose you aren't the real villain." Phemy muttered.

"Oh my, those poor dears...I hope they'll be all right, Irene's tanks could easily crush them!" Sumati said out of concern.

"So long as no one sees them, they should be fine." Mei Xi told her.

While the rest of them were talking, Phemy left further into the apartment to think in silence.

As Mei Xi watched her leave, her stomach growled, "Oh, I almost forgot the fact that I was starving!"

"I could cook something for you all! Triert, Farrah, would you two like to come in for a small meal?" Sumati asked.

Phemy closed the door to her bedroom and started to pace. I know helping them is the right thing to do, but...I don't want to leave my life here, either. I have a feeling that once I leave, I won't be returning here for a long time, if ever, especially if Irene finds out. Then again, I have heard that Aristotle is nice, but the Aven Elves aren't especially nice to humans. However, they have Rapalcas, and they're so CUTE~! Hmmm...

"Great, I have some potatoes for you to cook." Triert said taking a bag out as a lone Ramcoon fell out of it and scurried off back to Trierts hideout. "Make sure the Thaumers extract them." Triert reminded Farrah.

"So, no potatoes tonight for you then." Farrah said with a sly smile.

Irene had been looking over the data Farrah had on her datapad.

"What's so special about the hybrid, plenty of people sign up for the program and have little hybrid babies." An agent had asked Irene as she turned around.

"Because, hybrids born outside of the facility are known as natural ones. When they're born, it signals a time of great change according to the Brantan Elves." Irene told her agent as she turned on a monitor to show ancient art depicting natural hybrids. "We humans can't write things off as myth anymore, and if this hybrid continues to run amuck, who knows what kind of 'great change' he might bring!" Irene said as her fist came crashing like a gavel against her keyboard.

"Don't you realize you're playing into the great change itself?" A large, imposing figure towering over Irene said.

"Daddy!" Irene said, running over to give her father a hug. "What do you mean that I'm playing into it?" Irene had asked her father.

"The Great Change happens, no matter what people do to stop it. You can't stop it, and neither can they hybrid. But we can play into it, and hope to turn it to our favor and to the favor of everyone at Baal Corporation's. Go Irene, play a direct role in the change itself. Bring to us, the spoils of change." Her father ordered her as she gave him one final hug. "Take these, they will protect you." Her father told her as a servant brought her a display case carrying two blades.

Mei Xi shook her head, "You REALLY didn't bother to check the bag, did you?"

Sumati searched through the cabinets until she found the pot and frying pan she wanted to use. While she had been searching for the cooking utensils, she used her telekinesis to turn on the stove and grab the required ingredients out of the refrigerator.

"I'm making chicken over rice with tzatziki sauce tonight! I hope you two like it!" Sumati told them as she put the chicken in the frying pan.

"I hope this doesn't take too long..." Mei Xi muttered, her stomach growling.

"Good things come to those who wait! Plus, you can't rush food preparation, especially if you want it to be good!"

"If you haven't noticed, I'm not the waiting type."

The hungry demon crossed her arms and plopped onto the couch.

"Instead of pouting on the couch, you should be looking at the news to make sure the situation hasn't changed yet." Phemy said, emerging from her room.

"True."

Phemy sat down on the couch next to Mei Xi and turned on the TV. Thankfully, everything was still the same...for now.

"We'll need to eat quickly, because it won't be long before Irene's agents start storming apartment complexes." Phemy told the group, "She likes getting results quickly."

Triert noticed Farrah accessing a hidden tablet she kept on her person.

"Operation a failure, attempting to exit along a small group of capable humans and demons. The Hybrid is safe, his name is Triert." Farrah muttered as she put hid her tablet with magic once again. "Can I help you?" Farrah asked as he flipped backwards.

"Call it an instinct, but I don't feel like I really know what you have in store for me. A nice floating island for me, complete with a spring? Oh but wait, there's a catch isn't there. You'll have a couple of your elven floating eyes constantly watching, reminding me I'm in nothing but an open prison for you all!" Triert said rather angrily. "I've been the mouse for two cats here, but I can tell neither wants to eat me. So what do the elves really want me for?" Triert scorned as he pulled a chair to sit on.

"Aven, it's Aven damn it! Just so you know, you're worth more to us than what the Ethologists would have us believe. Think of the things you could help us with, someone to communicate with the Haven Ramcoons, and it's only a few pieces of DNA we would need from you in order to let others enter the artificial hybrid state." Farrah told Triert as his face continued to show scorn.

"Then what would that pasty assed woman want to do with a potato thief like me? Is the crime for stealing from her stores death from a firing squad of ****** tanks!?" Triert told Farrah as his hands slammed onto the table in front of her. Farrah gave a sign as she pulled her tablet out once more. She entered the Thaumers database and opened multiple papers, some from not too long ago, others that were old and tattered.

"You're a Natural Hybrid Triert, Brantan scripts write of them bringing change into the worlds they are born into. The mana flowing through the life of every living being in this world can change them, and through massive coincidence that the Avens saw a myth that was created by our ancestors that natural born hybrids appear when the world undergoes the end of an era. The Discovery of Mana, led by a Hybrid, ended the Obscure Era where Avens had nothing more than sticks and rocks to fling at each other. The Discovery of Mana Era ended when the Falco Avens rose to the sky as Theria launched its campaign against it's rivals. A Hybrid ensured that Aristotle would escape the campaign, and from there our Magical Enlightenment began as the Unified Theria would have its campaign stopped by the next Hybrid born." Farrah said as she pulled out one last Hybrid.

"Finally, during the First Contact Era. When humans arrived..."

"A Hybrid was born? Sorry to cut you off, but I saw that last one coming." Triert said as his breathing began to hasten after learning more of the myth revolving him.

"You're correct, and rude!" Farrah said as she searched deeper into her records. "The last Hybrid born...was the last Aven Emperor of Theria. Before the humans broke it apart, but reports on what cracked Theria remain contested. Humans blame avens, Avens blame humans, and a few people even say the emperor blew the place apart." Farrah said as she put her tablet away and turned back to Triert. "You're the first human hybrid born to bring a great change. I told you what you wanted, and even if you choose to run, change will follow you no matter what you do." Farrah told Triert as he hanged his head down.

"Raised by Ramcoons, someone finds me and brings me inside of the Chromatic City, they taught me how to speak, and even teach me the customs for aves, humans, and demons too. Then, they gave me a ticket one day to Teuthis and told me to make sure The Queen never finds me. I settled myself in a comfy alley where I found a stray pack of Ramcoons. Then my life as a potato thief began, and I'm thrown into this." Triert told Farrah as he stood up and stepped around the apartment. "There's my life story, a confused young hybrid boy, finding himself more and more confused as time goes on. Only finally, getting answers to learn that the rest of this world takes its myth's too god damned seriously." He said sitting on a chair, his head weighed down from the frustration of it all.

"We want to protect you Triert, it's not safe here in Teuthis or the rest of Arcadia too." Farrah said reaching a hand out on his shoulder. His head perked up when she did as the two could finally manage to put their trust in the other with a simple, kind, shared expression.

"Y'know, this whole soap opera would have been better with a plate of food." Mei Xi said casually, a joking tone mixed in with her casual one.

Phemy nudged Mei Xi, "Be nice."

"On a more serious note, that's a lot of information to take in such a short amount of time."

"Well, then you can piece it together over dinner!" Sumati said cheerfully as she used her telekinesis to set the table.

Sumati put a plate, fork, and spoon around the edge of the table, making sure to evenly space them out. In the middle, she put a large pan full of rice, chicken, and tzatziki sauce with another plate of naan bread right next to it. Ah...it's my favorite...! Phemy thought while staring at the food in the middle of the table, her eyes shining with glee. The smell was heavenly, almost making Mei Xi and Phemy drool. Sumati, Mei Xi, and Phemy quickly took seats on the floor in front of the plates. Mei Xi was the first to start serving herself, far too hungry to wait for their guests to sit with them. Phemy patiently waited for Mei Xi to finished while Sumati gestured to Triert and Farrah to sit in the remaining vacant seats.

Farrah had taken a seat and began to eat the chicken over rice. "Farrah, you're Aven. Doesn't that mean you're related to these birds?" Triert asked as Farrah took another bite.

"You mean like almost all of you are closer to the native hominids but sell them at Baal Markets? I don't see a problem here, my compliments to the cook as well." Farrah told them as a smile stretched across her face. Triert had shrugged as he began to eat his as well.

"Thank you, I am glad that you like my cooking!" Sumati said with a smile.

Mei Xi and Phemy were unfazed by Farrah and Trierts' comments, continuing their meal.

"This shouldn't be a shock, considering there are many animals that will eat anything, even each other. Humans, demons, and elves are not above cannibalism, either." Phemy commented calmly.

After they were all done with their meals, Phemy moved to go back to her room.

"Hey, shouldn't you at least say goodbye to your guests first?" Mei Xi asked.

"I'm going with you."

"Oh? That's great to hear, since you know the city much better than I do!"

"Yeah... Anyway, I need to go pack."

And with that, Phemy quickly left to pack her things, wanting to be prepared in case anything happened. Mei Xi watched as Phemy left, a bit surprised that she decided to come after all. Sumati put the dishes in the sink, then sat down on the couch to wait for their friend to return.

"...Phemy will probably have a plan once she gets back." Mei Xi assured Farrah and Triert.

"Is something wrong?" Sumati asked Mei Xi.

"It's nothing, I'm just a little surprised is all."

Triert followed Phemy to her room, wanting to give her a few last words before they went out. "Look...I just wanted to thank you personally for the help. With me showing up here, I realized that you might not find some peace and quiet for a while." Triert told her outside the door. "I know it probably won't mean much but, I promise I'll get you out of this alive, sane, and with a nice home too. I'm sure it's pretty easy to steal a deed." Triert told her as he stood outside her door.

While Phemy liked being thanked, she was distrustful of him, not believing that he would find her a nice home or get her out of this situation alive. She quickly pushed the thought of dying out of her head before it scared her into changing her mind.

She swung her purse on her right shoulder and opened the door and looked up at Triert's face, "You're welcome."

She closed her door and moved around him, making her way to the living room where everyone waited.

"I hope you two are ready for a lot of rooftop hopping because that is the best and safest route right now." She told them as she put her giant morning star on her back.

"We Avens are known primarily for our acrobatics, they're important when it comes to using magic as well." Farrah said as she had been stretching in the mean time. Triert had walked out as he nodded at the plan at hand.

"Well, good to know this won't be too unfamiliar." Triert said as he prepared his supplies.

"Daughter, you were reckless in how you went about attempting to apprehend the Hybrid. I'll take over from here on out." Irene's father told her as she nodded and got ready to leave. "However, there is a spot you can hold while I control the security division." He told her as a smile grew on her face.

"Then let's go." Phemy said while opening the door just enough to let her head poke through.

She looked to make sure that no one was in the hallway. When she felt that it was safe, she opened the door and gestured for everyone to leave. She locked the door and started leading everyone to the roof.

------

Phemy shoved open the heavy metal door and was greeted by a pleasant breeze. Again she held the door open, closing it once everyone was outside. The deep purple sky was littered with few stars due to the city's light pollution. All was silent with the exception of the dull hum coming from the large tanks on the streets below. Phemy took a quick look around at her surroundings, determining which way the harbor was. Sumati smiled and closed her eyes, enjoying the refreshing nighttime breeze. Mei Xi rolled her shoulders and stretched her legs a little, remaining alert. Once she figured out which way their destination would be, Phemy asked the others to clear the way for her. She took a few steps back then started running. She jumped and landed on the other roof effortlessly, but did not stop because she wanted to keep up her momentum. Mei Xi and Sumati quickly followed suit, Sumati flying through the air using her telekinesis.
