CI Halloween Carnival: Minigame: Test Your Might

Post by Nano »

Check and post here if you haven't already.

Step right up! Play a once and a lifetime game of test your might!

Welcome to the minigame, a game completely separate from the main attractions. This will be your best chance to earn small amounts of CP for no effort on your part.

Rules:
Spoiler:
-The aim of this game is to write me a fight scene involving two characters of your choice.
-The scene must be either 300 words, or consist of two paragraphs with 5-6 sentences each in order to count.
-Entry fee? There is none! This is free money!
-Prize for simply writing the scene: 3CP
-Does your story have to be good? No, but it can't be absolute trash. If you wanna be silly, go ahead! Just make sure to put in some amount of effort.
-Retro can participate.
-Post your scenes on this thread.
-The game ends in 24 hours
-Have fun!
So those are the rules of this minigame. 3CP may not seem like a lot, but it can gain you entry into games to get even more CP.

If writing just isn't your thing, don't sweat it. We have plenty of minigames coming up later for you to net some extra points.

This ended going a little long(wc gives the length as 375 words), but I hope it meets your standards.

The two combatants stood in a barren field that had once been a lush
forest clearing, both of them panting, barely able to stay upright using
their swords for support, Their armor having long since been reduced to
scrap and the clothing worn underneath badly tattered to expose skin
covered in many cuts, bruises, and abrasions.

These two warriors had been chosen as the champions of their respective
tribes, both masters of the martial and arcane arts the likes of which
are seen only once in many generations, and though they resemble walking
corpses at this point, their battle to this point had been truly epic as
they clashed swords and launched spells at each other that could level
entire towns, and it is a testament to their control as much as their
power that the collateral damage from the many earthquakes, firestorms,
hurricanes, and thunderblizzards they've kicked up have not extended
beyond their agreed upon battle ground.

But it has been days since the fight started, and even these demigods
have exhausted their impressive mana reserves and even driven each other
to physical exhaustion, but the contest is not over until one of them
falls unconscious or forfeits, and neither's pride will allow the latter
outcome.

As they both catch their breath, they resume their fighting stances,
gripping their swords in both hands, both knowing that this will be
their final charge. In a blink of an eye, the two warriors close the
distance of roughly a chain separating them. Neither having the energy
to parry or dodge their opponents incoming strike, they both sink the
point of their weapon into their opponents gut.

Lacking sufficient mana to heal from the wounds that would be lethal to
a normal man that they have inflicted upon each other, both warriors
start to instinctually draw on their own lifeforce, trading years of
longevity to heal the damage, all the while willing their opponent to
fall.

After what seems like an eternity, one of the combatants slumps against
his opponent, his sword shattering into bits of light as the will that
forged it from mana fades into unconsciousness, and the victor steps
back and lets his own weapon fade away as he stands over his defeated
foe.

Hardly even a fight scene. But I was very inspired by my current reading of Paradise Lost. It carries much the same themes. And notice, if you will, the 10 syllable un-rhymed lines characteristic of epic poetry. There was also some accidental alliteration, which I am quite happy with.

And so I will relate the fight between Goat and Fox Boy.

In this epic prose, I invoke the spir't
of the muse of battle to relate the
prolong battle of the indignant Goat,
and the grand protector of the island,
given the pow'r of the legions of mods,
by the progenitor, dive Mooncow.
The grand Marshall, fair Fox Boy, lead armies
to confront the strong rhetoric of Goat,
once called Triert, now taken name anew.
So inspired he was by the obst'nate
stance of the ram, to fight social justice,
and the denizens of the Island dubbed
colonials of Tumblr. So Fox Boy,
issuing decree passed from word on high,
did strike down with word of brutal banish.
The divine decree of banishment struck
through the island like thunder, deafening
to all who heard its roar. Goat lashed outward,
with hard horns on head to pierce the armor
of his enemy. But his strike was vain,
and could hold no weight against the Fox' word.
And so Goat did topple down, from Island
once in peace and still, left in peace again.

It's not technically following the rules...

But it's poetic so I think I'll allow it. Just be on your toes for next time B)
