Shinies are a popular phenomenon in the Pokemon series, for they are very rare to find. I have been browsing the serebii forums lately, and have been reading/posting in the Shiny Discussion thread. It inspired me to do an MM (Masuda Method) for a Foongus. Still currently on it.

So this topic is just a general discussion thread on these Pokemon. It can be for help, what you are doing right now, and random encounters with shinies you've had.

I've never tried MMing, but isn't it still only like a 1 in 1000 chance?

The chances of finding a shiny are greater than before when you have a foreign Ditto. It still takes a while though. I have been doin m hunt for like 2 days, hatchin 200 eggs right now. Still none.

I think in B/W the chances of getting a shiny from the Masuda Methos is 1 in 1316 or something like that. Right now, I'm doing Snivy breeding, and have delayed Zorua breeding.

I bread a Scraggy (female) with a japanese panpour (male) trying for a shiny Scraggy.
Four and half boxes of Scraggy later, I gave up.
I may go back to it later.

In all my years of pokemon, I have found one shiny in the wild.
A shiny wurmple in sapphire, it was purple.
So I named him paul.
(Get it? Paul the purple wurmple....I was a weird nine year old...)

ANYWAY I evolved Paul, I wish I hadn't. Shiny Beauitfly are so hard to tell its crazy. D:
I'm disappointed.

Oh, I forgot, my friend gave me a hacked shiny mew.
It says "Apparently met at Lv.28" or something, and its level 1. XD

Got a shiny wild Litwick in Celestial Tower. Named her Earwax. :D Now she's just a haunted chandelier hanging at the top of my PC box.

Gladys and Oapie can spawn moar shiny Eevee when needed as well.

Shockingly, not once in my Pokemon game-related life have I seen a shiny.

Kind of sucks, though I'm hoping to get a Shiny to add to my team.

I started Emerald up again a while ago, and I go into the tall grass and find a Shiny Poochyena. This was a while ago.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot.
My friend and I awhile ago were discussing shiny pokemon, and he said he would start his Sapphire game over as many times as it took to get a shiny mudkip.
I laughed, it would take months I said.
Months...
Months......

It took him three times.

But I have a **** load of hacked. :D
But on GPX I have 3 shinies, Litwick, Relicanth, and Spritomb.

Spiritomb took me 4 eggs. ._.

I once stumbled across a shiny Geodude, and another time chained for a shiny Beldum (Now Metagross.) There was also a time that was probably my most embarrasing moment in Pokemon ever...

I'll never understand why people hunger for shinies so much. I mean, they're just regular pokemon. Before, back when they had slight stat modifications, a'ight, I feel your hunt. But now? Meh, I could careless. And that attitude is probably what's gonna get me another shiny pokemon. So far, I've gotten at least two in every game--minus my white, which is what I'm currently playing--I've played; no hunting, no breeding, no hacking, no nothin'. Anyway, I wish you guys the best of luck.

^ I can think of a few reasons people hunt so much.

1. Bragging rights.
2. After putting 300 hours into a game, you run out of things to do.
3. Their cute~

Once I was trying to get a ditto and i got a shiny drowsee. Another time i was trying to get a skarmory and i got a shiny zigzagoon. I never found a skarmory or a ditto ._. ....

The only reason I hunt for shinies is because of the joy you get in catching one, knowing that they're very rare. Plus, I also catch them to show off.

I too ran across a shiny Geodude, in Pearl, in the cave before Spear Pillar. I was at a restaurant. So every time my family and I go there, im like, "THATS WHERE I DFOUND MY SHINY!!! :D"

But, i'm still going hard ofr my Shiny Foongus. At about 250 of them. What's annoying their not spitting out eggs as fast, plus i have been busy, so it's harder to hatch.

My first shiny was a Ponyta~ When it first came up I was like "Wait, Ponyta aren't blu-OHMYGOD" I caught it and then proceeded to brag to my neighbor about it :D

At the moment I'm trying to get a shiny Buneary via MM....I've filled up three boxes so far...

Apparently my friend had never seen a zangoose in sapphire before.
So first one he come across is blue, and he kills it.
The next one, red.
He freaks out, catches it, and shows me at school.
He "finally got a shiny!" he says.

I wanted to slap him so hard...

You are gonna hate me for this but.

I was running around the Giant Chasm looking for Kyurem and stepped on a shaking patch. I immediatly targeted the run button knowing it was an Audino, and that's when I heard the shiny jingle. My hand redirected towards the poke ball pocket and threw a quick ball. And then I caught my second shiny. :D Named Lunesta.
