Pokemon Nicknaming
For me, it largely depends on the game. For my most recent play throughs I've been nicknaming every single Pokemon I get my hands on, but in past games (particularly LeafGreen and Colosseum) I've only named a handful, and usually long after I caught them. Sometimes it's just to distinguish the significant Pokemon from the insignificant, but other times I just make up names for whatever random critter I see. What about you?

Re: Pokemon Nicknaming
I always like to give my Pokemon nicknames. :)
The only Pokemon I haven't nicknamed is my event Celebi, and that's because you CAN'T nickname it since it apparently counts as a traded Pokemon.

Never been a fan of nicknames(and find it annoying as hell that in-game trades always have nicknames).

I sometimes do. It really depends though :u

Re: Pokemon Nicknaming
If it's a new Pokemon game, then no. I don't do it because I haven't acknowledged all of the Pokemon's names yet. Although if it's an old game, than yes.

If I come up with a cute fitting name I'll nickname. That's not often though.

Re: Pokemon Nicknaming
Personally, I like nicknames! When I first played I never nicknamed my Pokemon, but over the past year or two I've started to. I swear naming my Lucario Jelly, Cyndaquil Licorice, and Ampharos Oxiclean gives them a ton of character. It's also fun to see people nickname their Pokemon for things like Nuzlocke runs, especially if they're not into the nicknaming thing. It gives me a warm, happy feeling~

Re: Pokemon Nicknaming
When I used to play Pokemon, I wanted my Pokemon to feel somewhat unique, and not be cursed to have the same name as 4 billion other of its kind. It also made me have more of a fun time playing, and it almost made me feel like I had more of a connection to them. Doesn't make much since to you guys most likely, but when I was young it did.

Re: Pokemon Nicknaming
^I understand. I used to do this all the time when I was 6-ish. It made it harder when I decided to restart my games because I made a wrong choice in leveling up.Gary2346 wrote:When I used to play Pokemon, I wanted my Pokemon to feel somewhat unique, and not be cursed to have the same name as 4 billion other of its kind. Re: Pokemon Nicknaming
I have never given a nickname to one of my pokemon. I lack the creativity.
