Defeatist.

Yeah when I battle and my Archen/Archeops is on the verge of defeat I totally want to have its Attack and Special Attack halved.

Slow Start. I guess it's there to even out Regigas's stats but still.

Truant.
I've personally never used Slakoth/Slaking or a [DW] Durant in my teams before, but I never liked the ability since by itself it has no pros for the con of not being able to move every other turn.

levitate on flygon
just
why
trapinch gets cool ****, like arena trap (very useful competitvely) and hyper cutter (p okay)
but flygon/vibrava
it is ground and dragon
it obviously suffers so much damage from ground type moves, it needs levitate

Defeatist and Justified
all the Pkmn with Justified [save for Growlithe/Arcanine, via hidden ability] are resistant to and can even tear Dark-types to shreds

Aura Break is lame, unless you're playing in a setting where Xerneas/Yveltal are allowed. :/ At least it isn't a detrimental ability like Defeatist/Slow Start/Truant.
Also, Truant actually has some nice use on Durant in the Battle Maison/Subway/whatevs.

Magma Armor.

Aside from the general silliness of protection against being frozen- which hardly ever happens to begin with, much less to a Fire type- it's only other use is to cut down the number of Egg cycles it takes for an Egg to hatch. Which would be very, very helpful indeed.... if I didn't do 99.9% of all my breeding in FireRed, where Magma Armor has no secondary effect at all!

Cluts. What's the point of it?My Golurk in Y has it I believe. From what I'm aware of there are no benefits to not beign able to use held items.

^Or defending against such stretegies. Still, a lot of abilities seem like examples of crippling overspecialization.

^Agreed. Still, a lot of the new ones are highly usefull, such as gale-wings and protean.

I think no damage is better than a little damage so I can't say that I'm complaining. Plus, your opponent ends up wasting a turn if you're up against an NPC since NPCs aren't all that bright (most of the time). It's also good for using Earthquake in a double battle where you don't want to damage your partner (again, this would probably only happen in a NPC battle). Considering I don't battle competitively, this is a plus for me.
Jeffery Mewtamer wrote:Maybe its because I have only been on the recieving end, but Mummy is pretty annoying.
Well, when it's being used on you then hell yes is it annoying. Use it on an opponent that has a very useful ability (for example, Goomy and Hydration or Torchic and Speed Boost), you end up making the opponent unable to use their ability, effectively crippling them a bit (or a lot if their strategy heavily depends on the ability).

Arena Trap, Shadow Tag and Magnet Pull irritates me. It was really bad on Route 13 in X and Y where I was trying to find an item with my dowsing machine. And I ended up running into a Wobuffet on my Y playthrough that used Shadow Tag on me. Needles to say, it managed to stress me out much more than a game ever should. I think Slow Start is absolutely ridiculous. They really couldn't find another way to balance it out (not that I see why they bother since it's a legendary that's meant to be strong than three others)? Truant has been around since 3rd gen, just not as an ability, but considering you could use Protect to keep Slaking from attacking at all, I find it just as bad as Slow Start. Defeatist is pretty terrible too.

Dry Skin is horrible, especially since the Paras line can inherit the ability. As if the quadruple damage they take from Fire wasn't bad enough. Run Away is almost entirely useless, especially since pokemon with the ability cannot run away while Mean Look, Block, Arena Trap, Magnet Pull, or Shadow Tag are in effect (which is when you would expect the ability to come in handy). Lastly, Sturdy has gotten on my nerves more than once during battles against wild pokemon and NPC battles that should take no more than a minute.

Some abbilities can be used to your advantage if you know how to do so. I love trolling people with my Truant Durant and Entrainment :3c

Well, I hate going against Pokemon with the Moody ability..it's too random and frustrating to deal with. I know the Moody Clause bans it from competitive play, but in-game it's sometimes a *****.

...Cute Charm. I use a primarily Male team (No sexism there, it's just first catch first serve) and when it's used against me when I use something like Crunch with my Luxray (Male) I can't do **** for it.

Defeatist, Filter, Gluttony, Illuminate, Klutz, Mummy, Normalize, Simple, Slow Start, Stall, and Traunt can all die as far as I'm concerned.

Speaking of crappy abilities, how well does Confagrious(or any other mon with Mummy) do in double/triple battles as a limiter remover for the likes of Slaking, Regigas, or any other mon with tremendous strength hampered by a crappy ability?

I don't like defeatist because it weakens you when your dying, the starter abilities kind of suck too because its just a stronger stab when your in red, shadow tag because only wobbufett and mega gengar have it , and wobbufett is annoying. Poison point is annoying too unless you chose bulbasaur, then theres pressure, whose only good use is to make your moves last for a shorter time, my least favorite ability though has to be run away, outside wild battles, it has no f**king use, even though it now has a 10% chance of finding your teammates item, but its only for double battles and you have to give up your item slot for something you might not need.
