No problem, I'm sure this will be a really great editor once all bugs are ironed out ^^

I also notice the same problem. It happens some time and some times not??
If I edit a character that I am in the garden with it will change back some times but if I also edit another character at that same time, the other stays changed.

Examples:
I went to garden as tails. Edit chao fond to tails and to amy to high (dunno exact number, I just throw the slider high)
and I did something or other, I am not sure what. I just next time I notice, tails is back to before but amy is still high.
My chao photo are too big for signature. =[

I don't have the Steam version, so I can't say for sure. It probably would work, though.

You can get it from Amazon; it's pretty cheap there. If you give me some more information about the problem, though, then I might be able to update it to work with the Steam version. What do you mean when you say nothing happens? Does my editor detect the game running at all?

I'll look into the problems with the Steam version and get back to you, okay? It won't work with SA2B though, as that's an entirely different game. I might make an editor for SA2B in the future.

Edit: I've gone through every page in this thread and put together a list of all the reported problems and the suggested new features. I'll try to release a new version of my editor soon.

I just can't get this program to run while sonic.exe is running. The editor will work fine when the game is not running, but of course, I'm unable to really do anything. It crashes every single time I try to use it while the game itself is running.

I have no idea if this is of any help:

Thanks for trying out my chao editor. I'm sorry to hear it's not working for you.

Are you using Windows Vista or Windows 7, and running Sonic Adventure DX as administrator, by any chance? If you are, you will need to run my editor as administrator also, so that it can access the game. To do this, right-click my editor and choose "Run as administrator". Even if you aren't running the game as administrator, it's still worth a try.

I think this is the most likely cause, as I get the same problem. I will include a fix in the next version so that the editor displays an error message instead of crashing.

Failing that, can you give me some more details?
  • What operating system are you using?
  • Do you have the original PC release, or the more recent Steam version?
  • Where do you have the game installed?

Ah, thanks very much! It turned out that was the culprit. I didn't think to try running it as Admin, seeing as I've never had a program simply crash because of lack of access before.

Yeah, I run Windows 7. Thanks again.

Excellent. I'm glad to hear it's now working for you. It crashes because it encounters an unexpected situation when it gets denied access to the game. As I said, I'll include a fix for it in the next version. Thanks for letting me know about the problem!

Yes. I have a list of all the reported problems, which I've been working through and fixing. I'll probably release a new version soon. I haven't had many new feature requests, though.

I understand that, since this program can do nearly everything on that game!

Arite, well...

I've gotta hand it to ya, Fusion, I've been using this like hell. Love it to death.
Even if I'm with my legit chao, I can see their stats. Helpful. :D
Is there some way you could include the current value of the stat in the tooltip?
That would be great. The eggs off to the side reflecting the color
in their genes would be great, too.

Ah... I realize this is specifically for chao, but I liked how GerbilSoft's editor did other things,
specifically editing time and rings and crap in the action stages.
Would like to have that for features.

Overall, I do think this is a great tool, and better (no offense!) than Gerbil's for sure.
General editing and additional features would be great, but it does a good job at what it currently does.

Keep at it!

Well, now you just made me miserable. I wish I had the SADX for PC... I only have it for gamecube.

If you do ever happen to make one for SA2:B Then make sure to let the community know, as I would maybe be willing to buy it.

You can already see the values of the stat points and levels in the boxes. Are you asking for a tooltip on the slider that lets you select the progress towards the stat's next level, or did you mean something else?
Sora the Hedgehog wrote:The eggs off to the side reflecting the color in their genes would be great, too.
I'll consider it.

Thank You!!!!! Because of you I got a chaos chao for me and my friends and they loved it. Though something is wrong... when i make my tails chao like sonic I leave the chao garden and then the stats retun back to normal....
My tails chao still hates me...

Thanks for saying 'maybe' to all of those requests, Fusion. Makes me hopeful. :)
About the tooltip, it appeared that the value would only pop up if I clicked on the slider.
Vagueness, don't ya love it?

SA2:B editor? I've been hearing that... I didn't know (if it even does) a PC version exists,
or are we talking about something else?
