Spoiler:
Beam walked down Emerald Coast. She stared at the setting sun, her walk slowing to a stop. Her face was troubled. She didn't know what do to.
She had no friends who really understood that as really going on. In fact, she didn't know herself. Was she the enemy, or the hero?
Amberstone wasn't with her now. She told him she needed to be alone; and she did, foe that matter. Of course, the young chao left her alone. So she came to the beach, where her problem began.

Beam trudged along the Emerald Coast. Her loyal friend, Cyber, followed. It had been a tiring day of annoying Rouge, destroying Bots, and avoiding Shadow. They laughed when Amberstone made a funny face.
"Silly chao," purred Beam.
Suddenly, a round-bodied silhouette appeared near the horizon. Beam immediately guessed who it was.
"Eggman,"
Amberstone clung to Beam's leg. Having been captured by the devious doctor mire than once had made him develop a fear of him; as well as his evil plans.
Eggman hadn't noticed them yet. He was staring at the sea, his arms behind his back. He looked calm. Beam just stared. She fingered her transparent Chaos Emerald, but didn't grab it. Not yet.
Cyber backed up. But Beam hesitated. What if he wasn't the man they thought he was? What if...he changed?
Eggman turned his head. The sunlight reflected on his glasses, making him look all the more menacing. Beam reminded herself that appearances could be deceiving; she knew everyone had good in them.
"Good evening, Beam." The doctor said in his usual oozy-sweet like voice.
"Same too you," replied Beam. She flicked the bangs out of her eyes casually.
Eggman seemed to be a bit shocked by this response, but pleased as well. Normally, Beam would have either glared and run away, it attempt to attack him somehow. This was indeed different.
"How are you?" He tried again.
"Fine. You?"
Eggman snickered under his breath. "I'm absolutely perfect,"
There was a tense moment of silence. Then, once again, the doctor spoke.
"Mind if you and I stroll?"
Beam shrugged. "Whatever."
Eggman started walking, and Beam followed. The sun was beginning to set. Eggman had his hands behind his back in a sly manor. All this made Beam uncomfortable; yet she said nothing.
She just waited for the doctor to speak.
"Beam," he began at last. "Have you seen anyone of my partners dissatisfied, or unhappy?"
Beam was surprised by this question. She stopped in her tracks; her expression looking far-away.
Eggman stopped as well, waiting for an answer.
Had she? Yes, she had. Everytime Eggman was defeated, they'd get really annoyed or angry. But what if Eggman did win? They would have all that money and power. But really, who would want that?
Did she want that?
"Well?" Eggman broke into her thoughts.
Beam stared at him firmly. "Where is this leading too?"
"Nowhere," the professor lied. Beam could tell. "I'm just wondering! Anything wrong with having a personal opinion?"
"Yes." Beam answered. "I have seen angry partners,"
"But what if I won?"
Beam glared at him. How did he know...? "I dunno," she snarled. "Anyway...I gotta go,"
"Why go so soon, Beam?"
"I promised to buy Cyber supper," Beam said. This was actually the truth. "Bye!" She darted off.

Beam sighed. The sun had now disappeared, and the moon--suspended in air, it seemed--hung lowly over the ocean.
She knew now that Eggman had been trying to trick her. But it was too late now. Too late.
She closed her eyes, and sighed once more. She left the beach with an unanswered question;
Who am I?
