CHAPTER 3 (Part 1)
The Suspects

Snowy, Char, and Sky entered the forest with caution. They soon heard a rustling sound. Char began shining his flashlight toward the source of the noise. However, there was nothing there but fallen leaves. Char shrugged and continued following Snowy and Sky.

"You know, Char, some say this forest is haunted. I don't believe it, though," Snowy said.

Char laughed. "Yeah. I doubt there are any Ghosts here!"

Suddenly, however, some laughter could be heard.

"Huh?" Snowy looked around. He saw a silhouette jump down from the trees. He shone his flashlight on it, revealing a Mono-Two-Tone Dark Blue Dark/Run/Run Chao. "Znowy!"

Znowy laughed again. He raised his right arm. Flames shot out of the bracelet he was wearing.

"WATCH OUT!" Char shouted, and shot water at the flames.

Znowy frowned. He attacked again. This time, however, he was not aiming at Char, Snowy, or Sky. The flames flew above their heads. They landed on a tree, setting it ablaze.

"Oh, no! He's trying to burn the whole forest to the ground!" Char exclaimed, and tried to put out the fire. However, it was spreading rapidly.

"Come on, Char! Run!" Snowy shouted. He and Sky were trying to flee.

"No!" Char kept shooting water from his hands. He didn't want the forest to burn down. If it did, all the animals in the forest would likely die with it.

A flaming branch fell in front of Sky. The little Ice Dragon jumped in surprise.

Snowy was stressed. He was weak to fire as well, and knew that it would be hard to escape the forest now that the flames have spread this much. He decided to help Char. He ran up to Znowy and attacked. He shot a beam of ice at Znowy, freezing him. He knew it was only a matter of time before the ice melted, however. "Come on, Char! You can do it! Hurry!"

Char was putting out the fire as fast as he could. He refused to give up. Snowy tried to help him by firing ice at the flames, although it was less effective.

"Almost there..." said Char, after a couple minutes. Suddenly, however, a hand grabbed his shoulder. It was Znowy. He had thawed from the ice.

"You're not gonna get out of here alive!" he said, and dragged Char deeper into the burning forest.

"Char! No!" Snowy tried to follow, but a blazing tree branch fell, blocking his path. He looked at Sky, trying to hold back the tears. He and the Dragon fled the forest. Snowy felt awful that Char couldn't be saved. He planned to go back and save Char, once he got help.

CHAPTER 3 (Part 2)
The Suspects, Continued

Meanwhile, Crimson, Kyro, and Tangeri were at the mountains. They were searching for the murderer. They didn't find any trace of him so far, however.

"Hey, what's that?" Tangeri asked. She could see rising smoke in the distance.

"I'm not sure... But let's keep looking. We can't let the villain escape!" Kyro responded.

"Boop! Boop beep!" Crimson pointed at a figure. At first glance, it blended in with the sharp rocks. However, it was no stone. Crimson could detect heat coming from this figure. This was a Chao. The three got closer, and could see that it was a Two-tone Orange Dark/Run/Power Chao.

"Who are you?" Tangeri asked.

"I am Flare. And now that I've been discovered, I'm afraid I must kill you now."

"So... You're the murderer?" Kyro asked.

"What murderer?" Flare tilted his head.

"Don't play dumb with me!" Kyro shouted and pounced at Flare.

"I don't know what you're talking about!" Flare said, dodging Kyro.

"Oh, so why have to been hiding out in the mountains?" Kyro asked.

"I won't tell you!" Flare said.

"Come on, Crimson, let's help Kyro!" Tangeri said.

Crimson nodded. "Boop." He charged at Flare.

"Ugh!" Flare was knocked back. He struggled to get back up.

"Give up?" Kyro asked, staring down at Flare.

"Never!" Flare stood up and tried to run away, but then tripped. "Ow..."

"Boop..." said Crimson. He went over to Flare and suddenly detected something. He lifted Flare's arm and held out a blue jewel.

"Aha! So, Flare, you're a theif!" Kyro said. "You're coming with us."

Suddenly, a fimiliar voice could be heard.

"Kyro! Kyro! I have some bad news!" It was Snowy, and he was riding on Sky's back.

"Snowy! What is it?" Kyro asked.

"It's about Char..." Snowy said, and then told the whole story.

CHAPTER 4 (Part 1)
The Rescue

"WHAT!? That's awful! We have to save Char right away!" Kyro exclaimed. "Come on!" He climbed back onto Crimson's back. "We have to hurry!"

Kyro, Tangeri, and Crimson hurried toward the forest. Snowy and Sky followed close behind.

"Say, what's that...?" Snowy could see a figure up ahead. As the group got closer, they saw a fimiliar face.

"CHAR! You escaped!" Kyro was overjoyed.

"What are you talking about? Escaped from what? And besides... I'm not Char. I'm Char II." It was true. While Char had scars on his back where his wings would be, this Chao, while otherwise identical, had a perfectly unharmed pair of wings.

"Oh... I'm sorry. I thought you were someone else..." Kyro said.

"It's OK... But were you saying about escaping? What happened?" Char II questioned.

So Char II was told the story as well.

"WHAT?!? My ancestor is trapped in a burning forest???" Char II was devastated. "No... It can't be..."

"There's still hope. But we have to hurry!" Kyro said. "Why don't you come help us?"

"OK, I'll come with you! I just hope we make it in time..." said Char II.

"We have no time to lose!" Snowy said. "We have to save Char!"

The group took off once more...
