Why not just give people the ability to put any kind of rank they want once they reach a certain number of posts? *shrug*

Then everyone gets what they want.

Already suggested, turned down due to various reasons, including obvious profanity. Remember, the general age of users that come here is younger than a normal forum's age demographic.

i think a higher rank is a great idea
i mean really a lot of people get past 2k posts
also, just because people have a higher post count doesn't make them a loser or mean they have no life?? even if you guys are joking, seriously, it's not cool. you also have to consider, the most of us who have more then 2k posts have been (active) around for 2+ years.
i would expect about 1k posts each year if you're active in that year!

Possible option for a higher rank: Guardian Chaos? Since Chaos is like the Guardian of the Chao, its still somewhat related to the site's theme..

i'm not ruining peoples' lives, i am simply pointing out that post counts are basically useless
i'd understand posts being recorded on the website's archives, but having a post count be displayed at all times and even having RANKS based on that is incredibly dumb

Basically, for every post that you make, you get a Chao Point, which you can trade with other users.

Rankings are basically to show how many posts you get, they're on EVERY forum. and, post count is to show you how many Chao Points that you've earned through posting, total.

i know how forums work, i've been on these forums since 2009.

i'm saying they're literally useless and just like a dumb cosmetic you spend hours of your life wasting away to make all shiny and stuff.

I'm going to try and explain this to you in layman's terms.

You can't get rid of the ranks and post count, so you just need to IGNOREIT [whoops, shift key got stuck again.]

Just make constructive posts and then the ranks will be EARNED. I'm a Seeker Chao, about 300-400 posts. Do I really care about it? No, not really. I might get proud for a few minutes once I hit the Legendary Chaos Chao level, but after that I'll disregard it.

The Rank Bar also shows, basically, your experience on the forums. IT shows new users that they can DEFINITELY trust those users.

but i guess a higher rank would be ok???
i mean there aren't any reasons NOT to get it it wont take much time or effort

no, though in this case i'm just proving my worth by pointing out that FORUM ranks are useless. the post count means nothing compared to the words that are actually said by the user.

sure i could ignore it. but it's still completely pointless either way and some other users who aren't me will continue to accept as "i'm better ok"
