But on topic, I agree, we need some more too, it's annoying to say "off topic" and writing when it could be much easier and specific.

I agree with this.
More specific labels for transgressions might improve the promptness of the report function, in any case, because moderators don't have to spend those extra moments interpreting "other" write-ups.

It may be breaking rules on here, But It's a habit gained gained from pc gaming forums. This isn't the only forum I visit so keeping up with the rules is a Tad harsh. I think it may be more appropriate to inform others than getting straight to reporting. Otherwise that's known as abuse of the report button. The more you know.
Re: Two new post report subjects ("reasons")
That was a subpar post. Too bad it wasn't about the topic.

Every message board works differently. If you don't keep up with the rules here, we will deal with you accordingly. Re: Two new post report subjects ("reasons")
Never did I say I'm not willing to follow rules. Nor did I say all message boards are the same. Rereading a message until you understand the point is more valuable than just simply assuming I'd do otherwise. My point is. I visit various forums, and every forum has their own rules. The main one I visit being league of legends gets you the habit of quoting everyone simply because of the fact that the forums are highly active. I'm a person with reasoning. What my message directed in the last two post was that, it's unfair to report someone 3-5 times in a row without giving them a heads up that "hey, no quoting above poster". Otherwise that's negligence and abuse of reporting. That's like being pulled over for speeding and instead of receiving a warning/speeding ticket, you go straight to trial with a car ride just for you from the cop. NOW the second message on here I said why bother because it's almost impossible to reason with the stubborn. So I'd rather not argue. The more you know. I know how life on forums works. I've been a moderator for several gaming sites moba and mmorpg. It's important to understand the situation before you jump to conclusions. I dismiss myself.

Re: Two new post report subjects ("reasons")
You should know the rules as it is. Kinda required by the forum.bluethereptar wrote:it's unfair to report someone 3-5 times in a row without giving them a heads up that "hey, no quoting above poster".
Then again when does anyone read the rules first.
And when we report, the mods warn them anyway if it's a first or second offense. So you aren't even being "sent to trial" and punished if we report you first without us telling you anyhow.
And while it's near impossible to enforce the quote rule incorrectly (Really how could you enforce that wrong either they quoted the post right above their's or they didn't)Drouge wrote:Mini-Modding isn't allowed for 2 simple reasons,
1) You aren't a Moderator
2) You may enforce the rules incorrectly.
Reason 1 is a rule in itself, so to obey that we report without saying a word.
Yeah you've dismissed yourself but this info is here in case you ever looked back.
I usually don't take part in these conversations but yeah.
So with all that said I agree we do need these options when reporting for those posts. Even though I mysef usually don't report since I can 95% of the time count on other users to report.

^Suggesting that we can use those 2 reasons as options to choose while reporting some posts.

Doesn't this mean Nova's going to get reported a lot for this though?

Re: Two new post report subjects ("reasons")
I've repeated myself twice. Rules vary forum to forum. It's arduous to memorize every rule for each forum. Therefore, like I said. It's rather unfair to report instead of giving a heads up to someone or at least a reminder, that way the person being reported thinks "Oh hey, you're right. This is a different forum." Which makes an easily accessible memory to recall in a person's mind.
EDIT: I've reviewed the rules thread. Not one rule was mentioned about quoting above user. If you feel as if this strictly needs a reason to report someone over such an act then I'd recommend adding it to the rules.

Re: Two new post report subjects ("reasons")
Actually.
I found that. At least, I assume moderator/admin threads in that section also count as rules/guidelines. I've only been here since March, maybe I'm mistaken. I don't think this topic is suggesting outlandish things, considering that.

Using Quotes
Do not quote the poster above you and try not to quote someone who has quoted someone else. This drastically lengthens the topic and gives the reader much more content to scroll through including text they've already read. Furthermore, please don't quote someone just to quote them without leaving a comment. This would be considered an unnecessary post.

That should be moved/added to the Chao Island Rules & Guidelines thread then. For the convenience.

Re: Two new post report subjects ("reasons")
Sorry but we can't give you special treatment and excuse you just because you visit various forums. While yeah it is understandable that you can't remember every rule of every forums, we can't excuse just you cause we'd have to excuse everyone.

Re: Two new post report subjects ("reasons")
I realized it's extremely difficult to get a point across here. I'm not asking for special treatment. Does everyone only read a part of a message and sticks to one part of it? People need to stop being narrow minded. Disregarding your statement for now ND as it seems irrelevant to what I'm asking. In order to run a forum you have to think like your visitors. You have to think where's the first place they'll look and how long they intend to read around the rules before they get straight to posting. I'm suggesting that if people are going to get reported for quoting above poster, then merge those rules with the main rules since it seems to be treated like they're heavily worthy rules. It'll be more convenient for others that join. And incidents can occur a lot less. Take into account, let's say someone reads the rules. They go to the first thread they see, read/scan the rules and get to posting assuming that's all they need to know. Not everyone is more than willing to read more than just the rules thread. So as once again I've said, if you really care about all the rules that much, merge them with the main rules. There shouldn't be a reason not to. It's pretty logical.
Re: Two new post report subjects ("reasons")
Nintendawg, he was merely asking for a merge of topics for the sake of others. He said "For the convenience" not "For myself."

Bump, I just had to report 3 posts in the same topic for quoting the post directly above them.
