Open new links in a tab?

Post by superchao »

This has probably been mentioned before but... This site NEVER opens links in a new tab, it always uses the same tab and I have to go back or manually tell the link to open in a new tab... I don't have the extra finger strength (Or memory) to be doing that all the time. XD
So can someone please fix this?

So if people have already mentioned it then why hasn't it been done? Isn't this a minor thing?

Uh... I can open new links in a tab quite easily. I'm pretty sure even macs have shortcuts like ctrl-click if neither of you have a PC.

Or clicking with the mouse's scroll wheel.
Darn kids and their boost mode. In my day we had Spin Dash for speed AND WE LIKED IT.

I just...
>right click

Opening links in a new tab might not be quite as easy as the way you would like it to be, but it's not like you're wasting a ton of time or anything. I really don't see the problem.

Yeah, it's more convenient to have it automatically open links in new tabs for a few reasons. One, it saves a few seconds each time. Second, it's simple. For the third reason, it's fairly standard on the web at this point, so it's usually quite expected by the new users.

Dunno what you're talking about. I don't use that many sites that open up links in a new tab automatically.

If it were that important to you I highly doubt you'd forget to click with the scroll wheel. When I learned about that I used it all the time and now I don't even have to think about it.

It's funny because people are like "Well who cares, just remember to click with the shortcut lol"

When others are like "Who cares, just change it already lol"

And I'm like "Just change it and stop the bickering and constant me ending up forgetting once and closing the tab thinking my other Chao Island tab is on the other page just to close my browser"

Really guys, there's no point in saying we shouldn't change it because it doesn't effect you at all since you already seem to open it in new tabs anyhow.

If you seriously can't think to middle click, right click, or control click then I just think it's funny. Like really that is something I've learned to do even on sites that do open links in new tabs. I find it hilarious that you're that concerned about getting this changed. Mostly because this:

This isn't a problem a teenager has. This is a problem a grandfather has. You're not that old, superchao. You can learn to adapt.

What if there are people who like that it doesn't open a new tab? I mean often I just open a topic in a new tab for the sake of viewing that one topic. I close it when I'm done. If I'm linked offsite from there then I still have a CI tab open or I hit the home button. I just find it hilarious that you're too lazy to learn a skill useful elsewhere.

middle clicking isn't difficult and you are dumb
while automatically opening in a new tab would be nice for some, not everyone wants that
maybe if there was a toggle setting

but can't web browsers themselves be able to do this anyways

I'm fine with it. I rightclick-Open in new tab by habit. I'll always do that.

Oh gosh no. Please. Please please please no. Sometimes my computer malfunctions and does this on all websites and it drives me insane. I hate it. I want it the way it is now. If you don't have the "finger strength" to open it in a new tab then come back to it later.

It's quite standard to NOT have links open in a new tab/window.
Users generally don't like being manipulated to browse in a certain way, and as the web has moved forward we've seen less of forced pop-ups, frames, etc. Especially back when browsers didn't have tabs.

For example, if i'm at work- I don't want links to pop up as a new window while i'm browsing. If i'm browsing the forums and there is a link I want to check in another window/tab - i will middle click (or equivalent) to do so. It's better to choose when you want something opened in another window, than having the website give you no choice.

It's just the way browsing has evolved. Sorry guys!

If your that worried about it I'm pretty sure firefox has a setting for it... or maybe it was an addon, can't remember haven't used it for to long.

If you have chrome you can try this: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... anbfgoamoo

If you have IE, or ... safari(God forbid!) get chrome.

As for me, I have enough tabs open as it is. hahaha.
