Sonic Fan Characters/Recolors

I guess that depends on what they look like. I like people's fan characters (I do have my own). Now recolorings I'm not so sure of. I guess I don't like them that much since I always question what is the point of people doing that. But I guess if the recoloring is what their fan character looks like then I guess it's OK.

Newly designed charters I have some, SOME, tolerance for.
But recolors I just can't stand.
And just giving it some hair, or some clothes still counts as just a recolor

I know those things still count as recolors but that may be all people can do to create their own characters. Some people can't draw very well or at all (including myself) and are somewhat forced to recolor existing characters to make their own. I agree about the some tolerance thing because people could do better to make their character(s) look different from the original characters.

Exactly, it just shows a lack of originality and effort. I would much see a compleatly new fancharacter that looks awful than see a recolord Silver named Goldy, who is from the past and is constantly fighting a monster named Silbl...

na i do not like them have a 3d sonic game it do's not look good but on 2d it looks better

Well yeah, 16 bit sprites would be ALOT easier to recolor.

I've tried making my own characters using Adobe but I don't thnk they came out right. I'm probably better off finding someone who knows how to draw well or can at least copy well and ask them to draw my characters for me.

I don't mind them, per say, I used to have one, after all.


actually more like three. however, once I expanded them enough I stopped drawing them, because I couldnt put my thoughts into art and drawings.

But if someone wants to be a purple shadow named supershadic9001 thats secretly a super saiyan 90123902374097134134 or whatever, then let him, I mean you should try and help him improve, but flaming him (as most people seem to do) isn't really the right thing.

If I knew how to draw or create characters then I would totally help people with their own including myself. But I don't know how to.

I have tons of created characters for Sonic's world and other worlds as well. I can barely count how many I have.

I have quite a few fan characters.

Recolors arent good. If your 10 there ok. But once your 14 scrap them. And most of them are hedeghogs that are shadows brother and Amy,rouge,Cream,Eggman and Sonic have a crush on them...


If your origanl go ahead. But if you cant make up a good character or a story for that character dont bother. And there only for fun in my opinion. Just a hobbie.

I try to be as original as possible. I try to give my characters very unique personalities, abilities, and backgrounds. Sometimes it's a little hard to be so creative.

I'm annoyed by recolors but like original characters.

Okay, Well, if you say give a character a make over like this;
Give clothing
add new parts
revamp
change color completely
add something new
give new name
change apperence in shoes

It's okay and tolerable.

That's what I tend to do. I tend to make all my male characters where clothes. And they tend to wear shoes that look more like the ones we wear.
