Knuckles or Shadow?

I was just wondering...all of my friends are arguing about who would most fit Rouge,and I'm tired of it. Can you guys figure it out for me? It's just so hard to choose sometimes...

I've seen it both ways. Most people think Knuckles, while on the OTHER hand...

Most people have posted Knuckles... as I agree(because if you've ever played SA2B all the way through, Knuckles saves Rouge's life and they both stutter about it...)Shadow just wouldn't fit the bill.

In Sonic X, Rouge and Knuckles fight a lot so I'd say Shadow.
Plus, Rouge tries to take the master emerald and knuckles is furious with her so my choice is Shadow.

I don't think Shadow is interested in Rouge at all.
Knuckles saved her life. (For the master emerald, but he still saved her life.)
I'd say Knux.
plus knuckles says "are you playing with amys heart again" to sonic to hide his relationship with rou-*shot*
