It's really good, like I said on Tumblr I'd love to see the entirety of SA2 remade in SFM.

I'd love to see the entire game ported to the source engine.

It wouldn't be a good contender as the Source Engine is made more for slower FPS games like TF2, Left 4 Dead, and Portal, but the new Source 2 Engine might be able to handle it. Though, I'd be content with just the cutscenes, if done in the style like this one.

Idk, if I remember SA2B (at least for GC) was only 30 fps.

I meant slower as in progression in-level. TF2 maps, even larger ones like Badwater, are about 1/16 the size of good Sonic levels. It's like the popular fangame SRB2 using the DOOM engine; there are lots of unfixable graphical glitches because the engine just wasn't built to support such large maps.

Huh, I can sort of tolerate the bad acting when the animation is like that.

You know, with SFM I'm almost fairly certain you could recreate SA2 entirely (Cut scene wise) in not a lot of time if you were good enough (Like this person).
I hope they do more, it really makes me happy to see animation as good as this.

As cool as that was, something about the fact that Sonic didn't cut off shadow's line rubs me the wrong way.

Re: Source Film Maker version of Sonic vs Shadow SA2 scene.
^ I always hated that cut off because it was just terrible. It was a translation goof and the most apparent one. In the japanese sync, shadow finishes and then sonic speaks.
Either way, these are great and like everyone else, i'd love to see the rest of the cutscenes redone.

I gotta agree with Ciao because that part was really hilarious and I think the only reason why the scene is so memorable. But it was still very nice I loved the way it looked!

It actually works really. The cut off shows how Sonic felt towards those words, like actually showing emotion and offense to those words Shadow attacked him with.

This would have taken several hours to make, assuming this guy works at a similar pace to other SFM artists.Fox Boy wrote:You know, with SFM I'm almost fairly certain you could recreate SA2 entirely (Cut scene wise) in not a lot of time if you were good enough (Like this person).

It took Valve 2 years of on and off work to make the 15 minute Expiration Date short
Re: Source Film Maker version of Sonic vs Shadow SA2 scene.
However, the Expiration Date short making included recording voicelines, MoCapping, and designing tons of new models including Miss Pauling and all of the Bread Monsters.
Animating with already made resources, if done by somebody with skill and experience (IE anangrysockpuppet, Edbotnikthe]), can take maybe 4 or 5 hours at the very least. Not very hard for somebody who loves doing it like they do, either.

Re: Source Film Maker version of Sonic vs Shadow SA2 scene.
I've seen plenty of animations that take 5+ hours of work but only last 5 seconds.
Re: Source Film Maker version of Sonic vs Shadow SA2 scene.
Some people use different methods of animating. Some people have different levels of skill concerning animating, as well.
