I entered the debug mode code into the Sound Test, and it worked. However, while I can scroll through items, I can't actually place anything. Does anyone know a way to place items in this version?
(I'm using the Gamecube version of Sonic Gems Collection.)

I've never been able to use the codes, much less operate debug mode. Have you tried looking up a video demonstration for Sonic CD's debug mode?

I have. Apparently the C button places items, but the Gems Collection version doesn't seem to have an equivalent of C, just A and B.

Huh, that's a pickle alright. Have you tried altering the controller's button configuration? Maybe it could work with a modified controller or on a PC...

It doesn't seem like there's a way to change the control scheme, nor does it seem like a C button equivalent is even programmed in, which is weird, because in Sonic Mega Collection, C is mapped to the X button, even though in most of its games it's just like A and B.
