So I've always wondered... what exactly is Cream doing here?

I've been seeing this official art for years, and although it's very cute, I'm not totally sure what's going on with it. What is that orange thing Cheese is holding? Is it a purse? Food of some kind? Tell me what you think

I'd like to say that's a wallet, but who waves their mono-color wallet at you?
Holding an orange trading card sleeve up to the world is also weird.
It's not a tablet or phone or brick, because Cheese is putting a crease in it. So, a handkerchief? That sounds like something Cream would have.

Either way, I don't want to know what or why Cheese is to it.

I believe that it's just the other side of Cream's left ear curving around Cheese, it is the same colour as the tips of her ears after all.

I can and also can't see it as her ear. It makes her left ear look too long, but its the same color as her tips. I don't know what to make of this picture honestly.

Its totally her ear.

Though its more fun to imagine it as a pancake.

It looks kinda like she's holding Cheese out in front of her, and also like she's holding him next to her. She's almost certainly holding him next to her in her ear.

But to me it looks like they're holding a malformed triangle fruit and are very proud of it.

It can't be her ear, as far as I can tell, it doesn't curve properly, and would be too long.

Not being able to see the image and based on the comments, I'm going to go with it being the tip of her ear and the artist goofed on the scale/perspective because even professional artists aren't infallible.
